Skullgirls Encore Voted Best Fighting Game of 2013 On Shoryuken.com

Unless you voted 167 times, I hate to break it to you,but...

Y'know there's one vote that sepreates Skullgirls from tying and putting it ahead, before the other 166 votes were counted. The one vote that singlehandeldy won Skullgirls the title of Best Fighting Game of 2013 and immortalized it in FGC history. The vote that all other voter's recognize as the one vote that rules them all.

THAT WAS MY VOTE!!!

Well, actually, I do recall getting a happy birthday lvl 3 and the text "you have fucked up now" when I voted. I'm not sure if that was good or bad, but it was right around the time @POS Industries noticed the vote spike. So... thank me?
Good job breaking reality, Zid.

We FGC.
Fighting is in our blood.

But congrats Skullgirls. People will definitely learn your name after this, whether the polls mean anything or not. Love it or hate it, Skullgirls is now baby!

There's already butthurt people saying the polls were fixed or cheated, apparently. *sigh*

Wow...I didn't think SGs would actually win...Iz proud of this community..

Nice blocking by Bella in the pic. I forget the term for that type of blocking (is not fuzzy blocking according to option-select.com)
The only thing I know for sure is that it's NOT absolute guard.

Skullgirls Encore was the best game of 2013, and it's the best game of this generation. I've been playing fighters since the SF2 series. KOF XIII is IMO at the same level of quality, but Skullgirls wins out cause of originality.

I enjoyed reading all the comments on that page.

In all seriousness though, congrats to Skullgirls and all the other winners! I myself did not vote for it, but I'm glad and proud it did win! Let's keep it up for 2014!

YAY!!! WE WON!

WE SHOULD DRINK TO OUR SUCCESS!

(Beer, energy drink, salty tears... whatever you loves the most)

Now seriously, that was a close one. less than 1% ahead of blazblue. both together have more than 80% of the votes. And P4U got the "best new game" award!
Players (voters, at least) DO love good sprites and fast gameplay don't they?

EDIT: You guys should check a guy nicknamed "QuanChi" in the comments. Helluva troll. Even Mike Z tried to explain something to him (didn't worked for him, but it's intresting info for any other guy reading the comments)

Salty energy beer

Salty energy beer
So what you're saying is... Salty Energy Beer? Which can be loosely translated to Salty Energy Ale? Is it from Canada? What is it's dryness level? Was it made by a Ginger?

Salt, probably.

At least the people who voted for SG Encore had actually played the game. Looking at you P4U2.

LOL I was watching that as it happened. I was kinda ignoring him up until "I'm an art major" I lost my shit. Had to respond.
But I think he's legitimately an idiot.

To be fair, the game is out In Japan and there are at least a few known people currently their who been playing the game while telling everyone else what updates/news is happening.

Also the game is not that different from the predecessor P4A title outside of adding Shadow Mode, few new characters, and balance adjustments so safe to say that fans of P4A would have voted for P4: USH anyway.

Let's try to avoid throwing out random jabs at other games please. Doesn't give us a good look.

Absolute guard.

I'm not saying you haven't contributed I'm saying your attitude seems pretty shit if you're gonna act like there's no hope. What if a new player saw these posts and just assumed even someone who went to evo only to play SG and donated to the IGG (and I'm sure played and taught a tonne of SG) had given up?

They are probably going to assume it's not worth getting into the community.

Have you ever played console SG? Were you there in vanilla when the patch got delayed over and over and you would be lucky to find a handful of players online on a good night? Were you there for SDE, when Steam version released, everyone packed up and left you could barely find anybody again? Let's not forget how xbl players got shafted, got SDE late only to have it become irrelevant within 1-2 months (when there were barely any players already).

If people stuck on consoles even now want to complain about nobody playing SG, they have every right to. Don't shit on them because you have the option to play on Steam, where pretty everybody much is at (and the numbers aren't even that great). I went through the console thing too and I know how badly it sucks. Here's a question, what are YOU doing for SG? Before you start preaching at others, state what efforts you've made.

Honestly, I would prefer SG came in dead last and all of those voters actually play the game. The poll doesn't really mean a lot, imo

@View619 You've made your point, so I'm calling time on this argument before it gets out of hand.

Goddamnit... I missed something good didnt i?

Yeah, that's cool. Just annoys me that people still treat console players like they can't find games because they're not putting in the effort. =/

But I think he's legitimately an idiot.

And then there's Emezie (that stupid Nutsvsguts asshole) claiming that SG only won because the fans are a bunch of cliquish fags who flood polls without a second thought and get butthurt every time somebody talks shit about the game.

After re-reading it that whole statement seems a lot more backhanded than I thought.
But whatever. It's not really worth causing a fuss over, and it does have SOME level of truth to it.

P4A is my main game. I feel I can be more critical of my fellow community members voting for that game.
