Skullgirls Lore Speculation

Because it's shaped like a skull.

What if the skull heart is a parasite?

That's hostly my theory too, it acts like a parasite and skeletal themed ones aren't completely out of the question. (Sekhmet) I just think it's a really really powerful one.

Yeah I agree, the Skull Heart even replaces a part of the Host's body like other Parasites do. Samson replaces Filia's hair, Leviathan replaces part of Squigly's brain, Sekhmet replaces Eliza's skeleton, and the Skull Heart replaces Marie's heart.

Speaking of Parasites, I think it would be useful if the differences between Normal and Synthetic Parasites were specified in the Canon Info Thread. Remote Parasites are pretty clear though.

I actually think Alex mentioned this one as well, Parasites and Host trade each other. Examples mentioned in the Citation as well as Annie giving her eye and Taliesin giving his hands.

Parasites: Living talking creatures who need a host to survive, once attached to their host, both be come reliant on the other and separation will result in both dying

Synthetic Parasites: Parasites created in Labs to imitate real Parasites not said if removing them could kill a host examples Avery, Gae Bolga, Buer Drive

And Remote Parasites: Are Parasites who don't speak and from what I noticed aren't attached to a host but act in the same manner as Parasites

If it hasn't been yet, I place that in the Canon Info Thread.

Can synthetic parasites talk/do they have their own mind? Avery kind of seems to but doesn't talk very often when compared to Leviathan and Samson, and painwheel's synthetic parasites just kind of seem like mechanical implants.

I'm not even sure if Synthetic Parasites are even technically alive. I mean, from what I've seen of them so far they seem more like prosthetics than sentient organisms. This is made even more apparent by the fact that most of them look mechanical. Avery is the sole exception to this but I think that the little bird is just a projection of Peacock's mind, like Andy Anvil or Tommy Ten-Tons. I'm willing to bet that the actual Avery System is like the Argus System, just a mechanical attachment in her head or something.

I just think that they were built not to be sentient for the sake of completing their mission, how bad would it be if Gae Bolga and Buer just started talking to painwheel

You know what seems weird? Correct me if I'm wrong, but none of Peacock's minions had a actual conversations with real people. Peacock created her cast via the Avery unit. Maybe the Avery unit doesn't talk, but produce effects in Peacock's head like the conception of her creations/Avery talking? Just like pretend friends with voices in your head only. I know that's stupid far fetched, but still.

I don't think it's far fetched at all Phish. Andy's character description is "A figment of Peacock's warped imagination made flesh... er... steel." The same probably goes for every one of Peacock's Cronies, including Avery.

Also I think the Synthetic Parasites are non sentient machines because Lab 8 probably still has a ways to go before they're able to create true artificial life.

I have to agree with you there. The Argus system definitely is non sentient, but at the same time the Avery unit is "less understood". I think Avery is sentient because Peacock was a game changer for lab 8. Also, it seems weird that Avery can be a spatial link to the lab's arsenal. I thought space-time disruption wasn't really possible, save for Isaac and Aeon.

I like how Lab 8's arsenal includes things like fishes, TVs and the occasional moai statue.

I bet Peacock just takes crap from everyone's rooms in the Lab.

That is assuming that all the members of Lab 8 lives at the Lab.

Actually, I don't think it was actually ever made clear what exactly the Avery Unit was supposed to work, apart from "using Lab 8's vast arsenal". It's basically said that Peacock uses the Avery Unit in a way that no one had imagined she could. I assume that the way she uses it has nothing to do with using the Lab's weapons.

I guess the Avery Unit was intended to be a spatial link to Lab 8's Arsenal but Peacock just uses it's reality bending abilities to do whatever she wants. That's basically Peacock's power, she just does whatever the hell she wants.

Didn't Andy, Tommy and the rest of the gang talk to valentine?

They did, but she didn't talk back. For all we know, for Valentine it could be a moment of silence followed by Peacock's "Yeah, what they said!"

Well there is no denying that the are real, so why do we think they don't talk?

They do hit in Goodfellows or during the shadow of impending doom, so perhaps their basis in reality is dependant upon Peacock's focus. People will likely notice them since it'd be weird for them to be hit by invisible forces.

Only time can say for sure though

Admittedly, opponents can't see anything during Goodfellas, what with being in a bag and all. All they know is that they are being stomped harder than during Peacock's grab. Might be Peacock getting a morale boost and stomping harder when she thinks her friends are around, might be some actual yet mundane Lab 8 reinforcements which Peacock perceives as Andy and Tommy.

But George and Lenny can't be denied

Peacock's cronies are definitely real, people can definitely see them and respond to them. They do have a basis in reality, they're not just illusions. However, Andy, Tommy, George, Lenny, and Avery are all most likely extensions of Peacock. They're results of her reality bending abilities. They're her imaginary friends made real and without Peacock they're just that, imaginary.
It's a mistake to say that her Cronies aren't real, it's also a mistake to say that they're true independent beings.
They're sort of like the Nobodies from Kingdom Hearts II. That may be a bad example...

I'd say Georges and Lenny are real in the sense that they are bombs that Peacock throws at enemies, but they are less sentient and more mechanical than it appears to her/the player.

Does Peacock dream of cartoon sheep?
Kinda, since she's murdering them.

What was the Great War like? Considering the Technology displayed (MG-42s and MP-40s), it must have been at least somewhat similar to the Second World War.

Just a thought, what if Samson and his previous host came across the trinity. I was re-reading the character info and in Alternate Samson's it says something to the effect of how he walks a different path and choosen to serve himself and leave the world to its fate. What if Samson has faced the trinity and resolved to use the skullheart's power to defeat the trinity. Now knowing Samson's character, he isn't the type to display his true motives or ideas but what if he plans to save the world and just hasn't opened up about his plan causing a rift between him and Leviathan who believes he plans to use it selfishly

Does anyone else think it looks awkward to write down 'bones'?
Basing it off Fortune's wanted poster, it's probably a B with a cross through it and it sorta looks like you're crossing out a shitty B???
Although I kinda see it being a regular B being also equally valid.
Vhas, we need a dollar sign to bones sign converter.

Now I want to see Annie in a Starbucks uniform.

On the topic of money, what exactly do Canopy Bones look like?
