Having been born and raised in Toronto... Well it would explain why New Meridian's political system is pretty much immaterial, anyways.
Now I'm imagining Rob Ford practicing his football-tackle on whichever member of the Skullgirls cast is unlucky enough to interrupt his heroic crusade to have complete control over the gravy train.

Well if the Medici's are anything like their historic counterparts then the mayor is probably Lorenzo Medici

The mayor either is or answers to Lorenzo, more likely than not.

Alex did say at one point that the Medici have de facto control over New Meridian so it does seem pretty likely that the mayor answers to the Medici. I don't think Lorenzo is the mayor though, otherwise the story would have mentioned it at some point.

Not to much speculation as it is laughing at how good having a rabbit as Annie's sidekick is.

See, in Eastern (And Aztec mythology.), depending on who you ask, there's something called the moon rabbit, spefically, in Chinese mythology, guess what the Moon Rabbit does? Make Elixirs of immortality. (Double points that it's called the Jade Rabbit in China.)

GG, Alex.

This is one of many examples to let you know how skilled Alex is at putting together a character. Although he does have a person he consults for things related to characters and story that may help him assemble these characters

I don't know if it means much but does the fact that Sagan require an eye is significant with the myth that if you look into the moon you will go insane?

Alex has been making these characters like 10 years before Skullgirls, the more obvious ones being Squigly, Filia and Peacock, although I'm not sure if he didn't make the ENTIRE cast before getting approved.
I just know he had to alter a story or two for some reason.

I don't think so? Maybe, I'm not sure how closely Alex's characters actually follow myths.

A lot of Peacock's old concept art painted her as a much more malicious figure than her final iteration, alongside aging her up into her late teens. Supplemental story info from this time paints her as mentally scarred from her experiences as a slave. Her hatred of her slavetrader captors appears psychotic in nature, as she is mentioned to even toy with her victims before killing them. Her concepts show her as a powerful entity capable of flight, controlling hundreds of Argus eyes at once, and amassing armies of 8bombs to do her bidding; a far cry from the comical and impromptu fightstyle of modern Peacock.

Mike first showcased Skullgirls publicly in late 2010, during which he explained Reverge Lab's plans for the game. He said that the final game would likely have 8-10 characters, and two bosses.

We only ended up getting Marie in the final game, but I have a feeling that Peacock might have been the other boss at some point in development. The concept art above paints her and Marie as two opposite sides of the same card, after all.

And he also said there'd be a DLC character a month.

Poor naive Mike.

It is things like these that make me cry asking: "Why isn't Lab Zero rich enough to make all the versions of characters and stories that they scripted?"

I would be okay with this one too.

i don't know if this has even been confirmed, but peacock is based on the Mad Pierrot episode of Cowboy Bebop, right?

Alex Ahad will be doing a SkullGirls Lore Q&A soon. Idk what time it starts, but you should join.
just watched the alex q&a stream

it was pretty interesting

That stream was enough to fuel lore speculation for like another six months, wow.

What sticks out most to me at the moment were all the tidbits regarding Lab 8 and affiliated parties. Now I'm really wishing the timeline were more concrete so that I could piece this all together coherently...

If I'm interpreting this right, Alex's answers on the stream today would mean that Lab 8 has 'defected' at least twice--once when all of the Labs initially went rogue, and again when they pulled a double turncoat and decided to show that you can do crazy experiments FOR SCIENCE and also be genuinely ethical at the same time.

It seems like Lab 8 and Lab 0 are meant to be clear foils, then. Since Lab 8 appears to go through government approval per Parasoul's quotes against Peacock, and 0 is completely off the books. Not to mention everyone at Lab 0 seems to be completely stonking bonkers. (Lab 8 being only somewhat stonking bonkers.)

My impression was that the Labs originally went rogue for the reason Alex stated -- they were doing useful work that might someday be beneficial to society, and they didn't think it was fair for their funding to be cut off so abruptly -- but Lab 0 split off from the rest because that was where all the creepy, unethical types like Brain Drain and Valentine ended up, as opposed to Dr. Geiger, Dr. Avian, and Dr. Whitefin at Labs 4 and 8.

one thing that caught my attention was that Synth Parasites are:
1. A relatively recent invention
2. have varying degrees of sentience/sapience
as opposed to Dr. Geiger
i don't think we really know anything about geiger's motivations or alignment.

I actually think that Geiger works at Lab Zero, being the founder and all

If I recall correctly, Alex said that the first in command of Lab Zero is someone who was already mentioned somewhere as opposed to a completely unknown individual, so yeah, Geiger is a likely candidate. We can probably expect Brain Drain-tier morality from the chap.

His full name, Victor Geiger, may be an interesting insight into his character.

Geiger is the last name of famous German scientist Hans Geiger, whose brilliance helped discover the structure of the atom.

Victor is the first name of Victor Frankenstein, a scientist so compelled to serve the "greater good" through his misguided science that he creates a horrific abomination in his folly.

Plus Dahlia mentions him by name at the end of Peacock's story, so Geiger is probably still alive and kicking. Plus my headcanon is Geiger is in charge of Lab Zero and is probably the one who helped create Brain Drain's robotic body.

Under_the_bridge.jpg

These two versions of Under the Bridge look vastly different. Despite some things being obvious placeholders, I wonder if the differences reflect the former being unfinished, a theme redesign, or possibly even an alternate version of the stage.

The former has a high-rise building, complete with a parasol'd balcony in the place of the construction site, and what appears to be some sort of store in the place of the barge. It looks like maybe it was intended to be more lively; if they're alternate stages and not just a design overhaul, then maybe one is set in the past around the time that Big Band was crippled, and the other is set in the present.

It'd make sense in a way since Alex said that at the very least, we would be seeing Big Band pre-iron lung, and that's many years in the past.

Also, dat Anna Killer reference on the barge.

The Anna Killer reference makes me happy, but I guess there is no nightclub called Anna Killer anymore if this is the case. );

I'm still waiting on that train stage

What if Annie's parent's were what caused her to hunt down Skullgirls

Annie's mother would have became a Skullgirls and traumatized Annie who grew a resentment for Skullgirls

Okay guys, this is ltierally an ass dive theroy but what if Claire, the bi-coloured lady here had some significance?

I mean really, her only picture is with Venus, while it could be another sketch of her in general I just think this has some suggestions they're related to each other.

Not to mention Claire has a SUPER weird design, it's the most un-standard lady one I've seen thus far. One thing I guess is like, maybe a Double thing? Or just a free-acting agent of Venus. (Seems like that to me?)

Can someone also rip claire form the city stage? I want to get a closer look at her.

That would certainly make sense.
Aeon: Double
Mother: Skullheart
Venus: ???
They all have some sort of agent floating around aside from Venus. It would also make sense for her agent to not be helping with the skullheart operation since Venus doesn't really seem to care much, and it would also make sense considering that semi-exhibitionist outfit certainly looks like something Venus would dress her agent as.

Not to mention she's bi-coloured and kinda reminds me of a Venus Fly Trap.

Wait where is it said that Double is an agent of Aeon?
It would seem to me that Double is an agent of Venus since they're both similar, namely being eldritch horrors.
I mean this is just speculation but I always thought that Double was a literal piece of Abbadon who was given it's own intelligence and then ejected into the world to do the Trinity's bidding.

As for Claire there's a possibility that she could be important, but there's also a possibility that Alex Ahad just randomly sketched them together (I'm assuming that's Alex's work). By the way Water, where did you find that?

I believe from a reverse image search, it came form Pubtenku, Alex's art dump before it pooped itself.
(also, nice DOuble theory.)

double shot, in the picture, they seemed to be posed together, Alex rarely draws things in the same perspective in a sketch dump.

In the character description for Venus, it is said that she "calls upon her unwilling foothold on the outside". Unwilling seems to be the keyword here. Double seems to be more than enthusiastic to advance the agenda of her masters. Additionally, one of Double's losing animation is "Aeon, why have you forsaken me?". She never refers to Venus.

While Double and Venus's powers seem to be similar, suggesting some sort of link, there is not much strong evidence otherwise that Double is the "foothold" that Venus's profile is referring to.

Chrono, have I told you that I love you lately?

"Double's origins are a complete mystery. Seemingly without a will or motive of its own, this formless monster aids the Skullgirl."

Chrono what if "unwilling" means lack of a will?
Also I don't think Double would favor any one member of the Trinity over the other, there's probably some other reason why she would reference Aeon and not Venus.
