Hello everyone!

So there has been talk, as well as some organization being done for the past week regarding the 5 vs 5 match Japan wants to have against the US in Skullgirls. I will be streaming this event on Twitch.tv/kpblive (thanks @dapurplesharpie ) at 8 pm pst tomorrow. I have received most of the information but here is what I have so far:

There will be two Exhibition sets of Matches. The first one (the undercard) will be a 2/3 and the main event will be 3/5. Here is Japan's line up for the 2/3:

Rikai vs @ShadeMoneh
Shidama vs @Duckator
KST vs @Saske
Mashiro vs @WingZero
Amabane vs @cloudKing211

No word yet on who from the US will be playing them. So once I know who is going to playing this set of players, I message the Japaneses organizer asap.

For the main event, here is the sets to be played:

Jabara vs @SonicFox5000
Sasami vs @Dolfinh
Ginger vs @Swiftfox-Dash
159man vs @mcpeanuts (get ready for that A-Train assist to come for your ass)
Sig vs. @dekillsage

I can't lie, and say I will have the pleasure of streaming this. I have been told to instruct the NA players to enter, and exit the lobby in accordance with the match order on the streaming. I keep in contact with the Japanese organize throughout the event in case any problems do come up. I will have some overlays ready for tomm night's big event, and I make sure to share this out as much as I can to get more people to come and watch this.

P.S.
Shoutouts to @render for helping out as well!

i've seen "team fights" like these--the winner of a match/set would stay while the next person in the loser's team would step up and try again. this would keep going kung-fu style until all of one team loses except the first person, who gets a final shot after the rest of the team loses. was this format considered or would that take too lng?

...wait, is this tonight?

Wow, this is big news! Have online Japan vs. America exhibitions been done at this scale for any other recent fighting game, let alone ever for a Western developed one? Only other games I can think of are classics like ST that are, of course, using GGPO.

I hope everything runs smooth. This might be another achievement for Skullgirls to add into the FG history books.

lmao nah

I've heard people mention connection problems to you that are in Cali, connecting to JP for you sounds like it'd be hell for you and the other guy.

Hey so I'm watching the Meltdown right now and I'm thinking, Clawmaster probably shouldn't be the one to stream this. Anyone else willing to host it?

I'm running the stream aside Clawmaster so there shouldn't be any issues on the stream side.

If there IS disconnection on his side, I'll be picking it up for the rest of the tournament.
I'll also be recording it locally in HD so that I can upload it to KPB YouTube the next day.

My connection is fine...Could be better but its fine.

Yes me and Sharpie will be running the stream side of things. So it won't be just a one man show.

I'd like to study up on the japanese players. Where's the best place to catch videos of them?

I've been really impressed with 159man ever since MMDS posted that long set against him in the videos subforum. I watched it a bunch of times and learned how to do all of his combos, resets, setups etc and played the team at my offline locals. I also tried playing on quick match as 610man and ran into him which I think is actually how this all got started lol. Super awesome to get to play him, definitely one of the strongest players I've ever played against.

I'm really glad I got the opportunity to commentate this. Having a new perspective like this gives me more inspiration to learn the game beyond my characters.

Thanks for putting me on.

Personally loved your commentary. Most knowledgeable commentator I've heard. But I think you would go well with a hype man.

When you called out the M beat extend and when you called a delayed throw tech, I was impressed. Only good players that play a lot would see those things (like I did, but I'm not good, just play alot)

Hope you commentate more sg stuff in the future.

Well played to all.
I was SUPER HYPE to see dekillsage cancel his Fukua cr.mk into armor throw to beat the pbgc... Sickest read I've seen and really hit home for me because I've been teaching the local peeps to stay away from that move on block because it is pbgc bait, and destroying them when they do it. But to see sage destroy my strat in such a smart fashion and with such a clutch fucking read... Man. I was hype at the skill level shown.

And 159man is the shit. Just saying. Very entertaining sets from all.

Uploading is taking a little bit longer than I expected.

YouTube playlist where all videos will be located is here.

I've only managed to upload the first two matches for now, but will continue editing and uploading all videos in 1080p.

Thanks for uploading!

Can't wait to watch them all once they're uploaded!! It's awesome to see through twitter how our community is really coming together again. Even if it is filled with memes and shitposting. <3

Japan shitposts are best shitposts.

I wish I understood them.

@dapurple when are the rest of the videos going to be up? And can we get a playlist for NEC? All the other games have one. The videos are there, but hard to sift through the way things are now.
