After reading the patch notes today about the recent changes to Class Notes and Atrium, I figured I'd make a topic about this.

I think a very important aspect of any fighting game is the stages.

So, what's the general opinion on the stages to Skullgirls? What's your favorite? Which one do you always pick when going into training? Are your settings on 2D or 3D?

My favorite is Lab 8. The music there is great and all the NPCs there look really cool.
 
When it finally finds it's way to consoles, probably Rooftops will be my favorite. Though, I think the final version of the ballroom stage is going to be breathtaking, especially with the right music and all the IGG NPCs

I like plenty of them. Usually the stage theme is the decisive factor. If I really enjoy the tune, then I don't even mind if I'm not all that fond of the stage itself. That said, the stages in SG don't make me go through that dilemma.
My most common picks are: Lab 8 [Empty], Maplecrest, Final Atrium and the Cathedral.
I normally favor stages without that many people around. I guess I blame Capcom and SNK for forcing stages with like 100 spastic morons on me.

That said, I hope there will be a 'Glass Canopy [Empty]'. It's just the perfect place for a formal duel.

There isn't a stage I like solely for whats in the background as I find most of them neat. But when it comes to the music, I'd prefer Maplecrest. That's what I go with during training mode.

2D. My high class potato can't handle 3D without losing FPS.
 
But really, best stage is Medici Tower.

some other stage thoughts:
Streets of New Meridian
- They should really fix those reflections on the ground. That purple line on the ground just makes no sense.
- And make a version for Squigly with rain like that art in the gallery shows.
Rooftop Assault
- Since its a really specific event, I'm pretty sure Marie tossing Medici tower will be in the canon storyline
Class Notes
- I think it looks a bit too dark now.
- They should remove the stage lighting on that stage so the characters look exactly like their corner portraits.
Grand Cathedral
- Did you know the lighting is different between the regular and the empty versions? The red carpet doesn't light the characters red in the empty version.

There's never been a thread for this before now (that I've noticed) so I finally have a place to ask this.

Why is Mrs.Victoria in the Church stage?

As for my favorite stage, hands down Class Notes.

1) A simple yet interesting looking stage.
2) Bright, bare minimum shadows on the characters.
3) Favorite fight music in the game. Best training stage music ever.
4) Most important of all: Mrs. Victoria is prominently watching you fight in the background.

I can't have an opinion because I disable 3d and lower my resolution up the ass and my fps still drops from 60-55 occasionally
 
Maplecrest is my favorite, but that is probably mainly because of The Lives We Left Behind. Besides that, I just like the calm, almost relaxing atmosphere of the stage, and it has one of my favorite NPCs: Cowboy Kid.

He's the most wild tree branch ridin' NPC in all of Skullgirls. I will corner someone in that stage just so I can appreciate his hype riding skills.

I think that is just like an easter egg, I seem to see Umbrella in that stage

Nonetheless, best Maplecrest dog is man-dog in sweater.
 
Same hairdo, same color, same skin tone, I think it's Mrs. Victoria.
 
Maplecrest still my #1 favorite although the additional stages so far have been great. Rooftops Assault is my #2 fav mostly because of the sheer "Ah" factor on what is happening in the background like Marie lifting up an entire building with bones. Background and music chemistry are the main factors on how I rank the stages.

As for background NPC...

I dont have the stage yet being on console, but I love the look atmosphere and music of rooftops and I plan on playing there all the time if I can, also I agree with zazz about the rainy version of new meridian which is my first fav stage for the same reasons as roof top, but like zazz stated I would looooove to see a rainy variant of that stage f not the same stage from a different angle like more near the graveyard entry way or in the graveyard it's self I would still love to see rain in this game.
 
I don't understand how every one loves Maple Crest can somebody explain the hype for it?
anyways Rooftops Assault is my favorite stage, great remix of Skull Heart Arrhythmia and awesome visuals

For me, the stage is amazing because it acts as a nice contrast to the darker, gritter, and/or busier stages by being a nice, warm, happy little neighborhood, and of course, because The Lives We Left Behind is an incredible piece of music.

Yeah the stage is pretty vibrant and full of life fighting in a seemingly innocent neighborhood setting.

Which is just a constant tease for many of the characters since the game has a more overall dark/tragic atmosphere. Not to mention the catchy musical tune symbolizing a peaceful type life that the characters won't have due to sad fates. Also the doggies everywhere.

I think my favorites are the River King Casino and Little Innsmouth - both have cool NPCs too....
 
im still waiting for my most Hype Glass Canopy stage, its going to be amazing when it comes out

Yeah like they said, its the contrast between chars like Val and PW slicing people up all evil-like while the "Lalalalalala" is going in the background... :P And its just a pretty stage too.

My second favorite is probably Medici Tower, great music, great visuals.
