It's going to be an interactive Visual Novel with the true story mode route for Skullgirls, which will bridge the gap between 1 & 2 without the need for more DLC characters.

If it's a metroidvania though...
I mean Bloodstained was just successfully funded, maybe some people would see it as some kind of "timed ripoff"?

We're all sure it wouldn't be but, you know... the curse...
 
My absolute guess are two things:
1. Annie and Umbrella are playable characters
Ive been hearing a lot of people wanting Umbrella and Annie to be as playable characters even though they havent won the dlc candidates at all but the only advantage is that (SPOILERS) After Fukua's ending after the credits rolled out and out of nowhere umbrella and annie are next to fukua in the mirror There must be a reason for this if it was for nothing it wouldve been awkward and pointless.
2. DLC Prototypes
Remember back in the lab zero youtube page where they made a video of prototype specials for each dlc candidate character using the first 8 in the game now doubt theyll cover the entire thing but a stretch of a guess

I'm expecting it to be something new or at the very least an official release date for 2nd encore.

It's like no one pays any attention whatsoever. There are multiple reasons that this makes no sense.

They have said on multiple occasions if there is ever funding it will be the characters required for story that go in before anyone else, this does not include Annie.
 
I hope the big reveal ain't nothing dumb like "plushies" but I'm hoping it's something cool like a sequel or more characters or a anime

If I wasn't on the other side of the country, I'd definitely attend!

The big announcement, like others have said, is most likely Lab Zero Games declaring their next project, but it could be...
  • An announcement that Valentine to be a guest character in Mortal Kombat X. The ninja nurse will be part of the Shuriken Pack, a collection of color-coded ninjas from MK past, coming Fall 2016 for five easy payments of $9.99.
  • Even though probably most of them don't meet the age requirement, each Lab Zero member announces their bid for the 2016 Presidential race.
  • During the panel, all of the Lab Zero Games members simultaneously remove their sunglasses to reveal that they, all along, have been Double. They snicker in unison before melting in a violent splash back into one eldritch horror that begins to devour the crowd.

Just to let you guys know, they do have a separate wifi for press, and industry and they are wifi devices in some of the room at AX. So streaming is possible. How good of a wifi will it be? I am not sure myself, since I didn't know about it till the last day of AX. I say to find out, be aggressive and find out from the AX Staff higher ups. From my experience with them from last year as press, the general staff doesn't know half of where stuff is, or is going on. but very very excited to see what the big announcement is.

Also Shout outs to @Flotilla for the link and bump of the AX video I took last year! I won't be there this year, saving money for Comic Con, but we will have staff covering AX this year still. I make sure to let my staff know to swing by this panel and record the panel if possible.

She's more of a Retiarius. She keeps her blanket with her at her seat at all times, and at first I thought it was because she's a small woman with poor circulation... but I learned the hard way that she just uses it to entangle her opponents before going in with the trident!
