    Hey everyone.

    Autumn Games has given $7500 so we can get some Yamane goodness into Harmonix's new Amplitude game!

    We think Unfinished Business is probably the hypest track, so that's what we're going with for now.

    This game's fans are almost as passionate as you guys are, so if you like music games you should consider contributing!

      I didn't know that was the name of the Under the Bridge theme until now.
      Anyhow this is pretty neat.

      It's REALLY cool that Under the Bridge's theme is gonna be in Amplitude, and I'm happy SG is getting more representation.

      However... they're kickstarting a console-exclusive game. I don't own a PS3/PS4, so I won't be backing. I don't really understand why they decided to revive an IP owned by Sony instead of making a new IP and labeling its gameplay as a "spiritual successor" to Amplitude.

      They probably figured making a spiritual sequel wouldn't get as much support compared to if they went off of name power; Which would you rather make given the choice, A not-exactly Amplitude game or an actual bonafide Amplitude remake/sequel <Some of us wanting the spirit sequel nonwithstanding :PUN:>

      I'll happily let them write that off as some PR expense or whatever they may justify it as. Exposure is exposure, and I for one am fine with LZ getting more attention.

      At first I thought it was extremely weird and such, but if it gets more sales of SkullGirls somehow, I guess that's alright with me.

      Yeah, exposure's always good. I guess there are a lot of people that haven't given the Skullgirls' soundtrack much attention, so it might make them curious.

      Still, I think Autumn coulda treated y'all to some free lunches wit dat money. That's like, 3 months of sub sandwiches right there!

      Yeah this is a cool PR move to spread exposure of the game into other audiences. Can't underestimate the influence of marketing. Also agree about Unfinished Business being the chosen track because it has a great buildup, fast paced, and catchy rhythm sequences that would be perfect for a game like Amplitude.

      Well I dont think Autumn funds SG any more so it doesnt get taken away from SG, all of their money comes from the IGG campaign

      It costs $7,500 to get a song added to the game. It will cost a fraction of that to actually add it to the game, but they need to actually make enough money to fund the whole project - not just that tier.

      It didn't cost $1,000 to add a single NPC to Glass Canopy, but some of that $1000 went towards producing Squigly and friends too.

      EDIT: Amplitude is now funded. Not sure it was when this article went live.

      EDIT2: Added a banner and some minor new info to the article.

      I think this proves to people that think Autumn has no money that they in-fact do.

      Please stop with the Autumn paying for kickstarters and not SG DLC characters comments. IIRC, they did help LZ with the non-predicted expenses that popped up while they are fulfilling the IGG promises. This is a cool thing they did to help promote Skullgirls that Autumn didn't really have to or need to do. They could've did nothing or a more generic, less fun method of promotion.

      Yeah, uh...

      This was cheap for some PR and permanent advertisement. Also just intra-developer goodwill.

      Our characters cost $250k to make at livable wages. $7500 is a drop in the bucket compared to that.

      Autumn has some money now that the PC version is doing well and the PS+ deal happened, but they still don't have enough to fund characters.

      I'm not sure there's really any business case for doing this, given what they cost and how many people actually pay for DLC.

      At $250,000, around 72,000 people would need to buy the DLC for it just to break even. That's a pretty high percentage of Skullgirls owners, a lot higher than the usual DLC purchase rate.

      Actually, since any further characters after Robo-Fortune wouldn't be part of the IGG, what would be the chance of the DLC from then on being paid from the start rather than the free period? Maybe that could help break even?

      To me it sounds like Skullgirls 2 would be more likely than further character DLC.
      It would be a mandatory upgrade (as opposed to pick & choosing DLC) & could boast previous DLC characters as part of the base roster, giving newcomers more incentive.

      I'm curious to hear what an Amplitude style remix of Unfinished Business sounds like!

      Also, this news tipped me over the fence on dropping a few dollars into Amplitude. So many games need funding these days ;_;

      I want this more than anything. Gimme 9 more characters on top of the ones we have, throw another clone or shin character in there somewhere, charge 30=40$, done.

      I'd love to do an SG2 some day and put it on Early Access: release the three story characters we need for the canonical story with the first chapter, and gradually release new story chapters alongside new characters.

      Basically just do what we're doing now, from the start. Not only will this make for a better game, like the beta feedback did for the DLC characters, it also greatly mitigates the risk for the publisher because they can start getting money in much sooner.

      Both PS4 an Xbone are going to have Early Access programs, BTW. So no need to worry about this being limited to PC players.

      The question then becomes whether some years down the line if that even becomes possible whether Early Access will still be a viable point of entry or if customers will have gotten sick of it by then.

      Oh heck yeah, I'd be down with Early Access from you guys.
      Not sure how I feel about Early Access hitting consoles while the patching process isn't as smooth as on Steam.

      Oh, awesome. It's really good to hear that you guys aren't burnt out on making skullgirls, it's my favorite fighter, and I don't even usually play anime games.
