Added. People can change their vote to that preference if it was missing before.
Don't really know why you made it one option instead of 6Btn Hitbox / 7+ like with Pad/Stick.. either way it's too late etc :~

Edit: Also please add an option to vote for keyboard
Is there a notable difference between Keyboard and Hitbox?

8 button stick here, I only use one macro for LP+LK+MP for using pummel horse in bella combos.
That's a questionable use, as your "Pummel Horse Macro" is going to give you Kanchou.

Accessibility, potential configurations

No ghosting issue on hitbox, either. Buttons are different and spaced/shaped differently.

'Up' on the Hitbox cuts the connection from down too.
You can do Flash Kicks without ever letting go of the down button.
(Usually left + right and up + down together = neutral, but up + down = up)

On keyboard, holding two opposite directions is the same as not holding any direction.

I just had a very novel think tank style of idea. It is probably dumb for reasons that i cant understand... But it makes me giddy just thinking about its possible inclusion:

For 8 button and 6 button users, have a dedicated assist only button! Not the current macro button, but an actual assist button.

The benefits are:

More like marvel assists and no macro needed. No more having only a certain special come out when you do special plus assist. For instance, right now if you do special plus assist with Beowulfs chair and tackle special, chair takes priority if he has his chair. But with a dedicated assist button you could choose which attack you want to get. This gets rid of overlap issues that many characters have such as painwheel, peacock, parasoul, big band etc etc.

So you could have 3 ways to setup your controller:

Classic sg with 6 normals and manual diagonal assists.
Mvc2 sg with 4 normals and 2 assist buttons along with diagonal assists.
New sg with 6 normal buttons 2 assist only buttons and can still call assists manually via diagonals.

So players can have an easier input 6 button scheme if they prefer or a harder 8 button scheme if they prefer.

This shouldnt affect the tournament scene at all since sg already has easy button config and this new thing could just be control input scheme a b or c and you pick one and then configure your buttons in the scheme how you like.

The only issues i could really see arising from this are:

1. This gives the 8 button users one inherent advantage in that they can call any special they want plus assist whereas the 6 button users will be forced to the default priority special plus assist package.

2. Somehow splits the community... But i dont see how this would do that when we already have hitboxes, 6 button and 8 button sticks and various control pads being used for the same game.

3. Japan arcade isnt on an even playing field as far as choice is concerned ( but this is already happening as they dont have access to 8 button sticks with an assist or dash macro like console users do)

4. Hard or impossible to currently program for mike, as he's already got so much on his plate and for no pay at that.

5. Some broken assist plus special combinations pop up...

But at the end of the day, dont we want people to be able to play the way they want to play? Id love to be able to brass knuckle plus assist with big band. Instead of getting e brake plus assist. Id LOVE to be able to pick between bomb plus assist with peacock, or to use bang plus assist instead if i want to... Etc etc.

This might be a dumb idea on some levels, but i remember complaining about not being able to to do all special plus assist combos to mike and he said he was open to suggestions for a better way if i knew one. At the time i didnt, but now years later, now that I'm now an 8 button player the solution seems obvious to me and gives sg even more options than it previously had which to me is a good thing.
So yeah, just wanted to make this suggestion. Probably wont happen for reasons, but one can only throw these darts... Whether they stick is another matter entirely.

I use the macros to call an assist alot easier then whapping 2 separate buttons. I tend to over shoot the buttons and clip the edge, stubbing my finger. It also helps with things like Plinking into combos (Like the way i like to run BigBand/Val is Band with A train assist and I plink s.MK -> Assist -> c.HP)

Honestly, I think 8-button should just become the standard, with the two assist macros that are default out of the "box." That's fine for controllers and for all the fightsticks I've seen being made lately.
