Splatoon

I'm pretty sure that final challenge took me two hours just now.

The bonus chatlog is cute. Nice to see Marie have a conversation with her grandpa even if she didn't actually learn about the octolings. I can't tell if using Agent 2 as her online handle is negligent or simply sweet.

@TheGoggledGamer you scared me for a sec there, thought I missed something. I didn't know that boss was a secret

Edit - OH WAIT I DID MISS SOMETHING, man that took me like 25 or 30 minutes jesus

Uh hey so this month's Splatfest is about whether or not you like pulp in your orange juice.

Why is Agent 3 such an asshole?

Agent 3 x Agent 8 is still my OTP.

You're welcome? If I had anything to do with that. But only 30 minutes, it took me nearly 3 hours (I took a break to eat half way but still).

PULP IS DISGUSTING, IF I WANTED TO EAT AN ORANGE, I'D EAT AN ORANGE. (I'm fine tbh either way I just prefer no pulp)

This is just the first Splatfest I'm siding with Pearl. :P I also think the pulp texture is pretty good so definitely on her side.

I don't care about pulp or pulpless orange juice. Orange juice is orange juice.

But I did choose team Pulp because the glass is cute.

I bought three kinds of orange juice to help me make an educated decision for this Splatfest.

No pulp, some pulp and lots of pulp.

Drinking them side by side, I'd have to say...

I might be with Pearl on this one. Pulpless juice is just orange water.

Did you brush your teeth in between to make sure your pallet was clear?

From my experience pulp and pulpless taste the same
but
Ugh, the "texture" of OJ + pulp disgusts me
I don't like the feel of the pulp sliding on my tongue and stuff while I drink it.
Imagine putting small strips of jello into water, that's how it feels for me. Very unpleasant.
>:c

I'm gonna be honest here. I've never had orange juice with pulp. The orange juice my family gets is straight up liquid. But that's okay. Because in the end, we all like orange juice, pulp or not.

Sometimes I take the best screenshots.

As if the Europe splatfests weren't bad enough?

Okay, but some drinks do have jelly or something in them already, and they're pretty great.

Aloe vera drink and Mogu Mogu are awesome.

Tea is literally hot leaf juice.
"How could a member of my own family say such a thing!?"

(also in this case the analogy would be more accurate as "hot leaf water")

Pulp has a different texture than jello for sure, though I guess that comparison can work.

On another note
I like that the final fight is one Agent 8 canonically lost. It's image training, and losing a lot is kinda fitting.

Also Agent 3 has struck me as kind of a Doomguy. Probably the most intense and over-the-top of the Squidbeak agents.

Mogu mogu is pretty awesome, but that's because the jello's firmer and chewy.
I guess my analogy was wrong, it's just that the pulp feels like... numerous small bumps?

Mystery Salmon Run with the new Grizzco Slosher. It's like the Dynamo Roller of Sloshing Machines. Its specific traits might not actually be all that useful in multiplayer, but it tears up Salmonids.

This stage is related to that tweet though.

This upcoming new stage is called the New Albacore Hotel, which will be added to the game through a future update. Battles take place poolside on the rooftop of a luxurious hotel, which lets Inklings enjoy a skyscraper view of the city while they compete.

Also new weapons

Let’s take a closer look at two of the upcoming weapons revealed during the Splatoon 2 World Championship.

First up, the Explosher is a re-purposed industrial heater modified to fling piping-hot ink long distances. Its shots explode on contact with walls and the ground, so it’s handy for hitting foes who like to hide. The fire rate is slow, so you’ll want to make good use of its incredible ink trajectory to corner your opponents.

Not to be outdone, the Ballpoint Splatling is a new Splatling-type weapon that equips a shifting system. It has a super-fast fire rate when you start shooting, but sacrifices its aiming ability and range. Once the spin slows down a bit, you can target far-off opponents with pinpoint accuracy. You can also recharge in the middle of firing by pressing the ZR button, unlike other Splatlings

I'm just wondering how and why the fuck Inklings keep making locales with prominent water with them fully knowing that they dissolve in water.
But hey, the Jellyfish there might be a pretty good explanation.

By the way for anyone *ahem* how hasn't bought this game yet it's $40 on the digital store right now. Might want to invest in a SD card though.

At this point you're just limiting yourself dude, in terms of stalling. But you do you I guess.

By the by, the smash version of Bomb Rush Blush is on the Smash site/youtube. I'd say it's the best version of the song so far, Splatoon 2's version is to over the top IMO, it's still good just not as good as the original. But the Smash mix adds alot more pep that the original was kinda lacking. (Still prefer Tide Goes Out though).

So uh... I was replaying the end of Octo Expansion...

That is one beautiful Pearl that Marina drew.

You just now realized Marina's fantastic artist? Did you miss the lovely portrait of agent 8 she did before that. I thought the brella was her signature weapon note the Inkbursh. :PUJNA:

I don't remember that at all. Can't find it now either.

Yep it's right as she's talks about the hyper bombs.

Also I realized something as well while playing through single player. The phone screams when you start the beginning of the end, when it starts winding up to put the thangs together. People speculate that it's the recorded screams of previous test subjects getting their DNA grounded up, but that contradicts C.Q.'s testimony of no one being able to pass the tests and getting the thangs together. So it's just one of those creepy things in Splatoon that we'll never get an answer to, just like the Boss room screams in Splat1 and the second boss room of Splat2, and Museum d'Alfonsino statue's giggling at each other during splatfests.

Oh, I only checked the part of the cutscene where Marina talks about covering the whole statue, not using hyperbombs. I thought she put the computer away at that point.

If the Sanitized Octarians aren't the result of Octolings who passed and got killed for genetic data, then why did Tartar not just convert Agent 8? It doesn't really make sense. Tartar apparently thinks very highly of 8, which it doesn't make sense for Tartar to think more highly of Octolings than Inklings, so it should be based on test results. The AI also has a ton of apparently raw DNA built up over centuries or millennia since whenever it decided to start the collection.

The DNA could be explained as all being before C.Q. Cumber's time, but that doesn't explain all the Octolings who would have wandered in over two years. Maybe the damn slug's just lying. Maybe it's a localization change, though with Iso saying he's never seen a full mem set it's probably authentic.

Actually looking at the Wiki for Tartar it points out that on the the side of Cuddlefish Cabin that there's a blue "rusted" phone that looks onto Inkopolis. So the "thing" that attacked Agent 8, 3 and the cap might of just been Tartar himself and not only that but Tartar being able to move around of freewill, at least in bursts. Which if that is the case maybe Tartar was able to just brute force get DNA early on in his escapade and instead used that DNA to incorporate the tests and do the work for him.

I suppose so. Agent 8 was taken, while someone like Dedf1sh could have stumbled in.

I guess, then, Tartar might have noticed 8 trying to avoid a fight but Cuttlefish not listening? Makes me wonder how long it spied on Cuttlefish though, his reasons for fighting aren't petty and he was shown in the diplomacy Sunken Scroll from the first game.

Speaking of that scroll, I noticed going through the chatlogs again that we got our second picture of probably-humanoid-Octavio.

I just had a thought, what if Tartar possessed Captain Cuddlefish, kidnapped 8 in a weakened state after fighting agent 3, and got them both down into the C.Q. Subway without Cuddlefish remembering how they got there and 8 not knowing how they got there as well (8 losing their memory was just a plus). Because despite his age Cuddlefish is rather fit, considering he was able to tear through ropes after hearing Calamari Inkantation. And of course Agent 3 gave chase but might of gotten lost somewhere along the way which is why they appear at the last legs of the expansion.

Also Dedf1sh is a bit of an oddity. Seemingly created by Tartar she still DJ's instead of fighting for Tartar. Though that being said her songs are prominent throughout Octo expansion (though we don't know if only the player can hear the songs or if music is just suppose to be omnipresent in the Splatoon universe) her most notable song is Slattack (Octo) from the Agent 3 fight. This leads me to my personal head canon that Dedf1sh was made by Tartar to try to lure inklings and their love for that kind of music to the C.Q. Stations to acquire more DNA from Inklings, especially since Dedf1sh's logo just the C.Q. Stations logo.
