With actual gameplay finally shown, what's everyones thoughts on Star Wars Battlefront? Can Dice live up to the amazing Star Wars Battlefront 2 or do you think it will be another Titanfall? It looks nice but I'm very skeptical. The game looks very Battlefield like, not like that's a bad thing, but is that what's good for the series? Even though the gameplay was cool, something just didn't seem right about it. I'll probably get this game but I'm very concerned that it's not going to live up to Battlefront 2. What does Skullheart think?

I actually think it looks very nice so far.

Will it live up to the previous Battlefront games? I want to believe that it will, but only time will tell.

Things I dislike:

- Repurchasing power ups (Shield + Ion Shots) every time, to be able to use them when I want in combat. The 'Charge' power-up is usually out of the way and you can only pick it up infrequently.

- Fixed, placed power-ups for Charges, Heroes, and Vehicles. (Mario Cart?)

- The current cards system is way more boring than classes. I really miss even basic things like repairing turrets as Engineer.

- The spawns are AWFUL. I had at least 10~15 units spawn in front of me facing the wrong way while in a walker, I just hit the rockets and minigun and killed everything because the invincibility window is too so short on regular spawns.

- Spawning on a team mate in combat to get a short invincibility window to kill 4 enemies in front of you before it wears off is really dumb.

- The power-up weapons like Super Grenade, Squad Shield, Rocket Launcher, Turrets, etc are all very cool, but I wish you didn't have to sprint out of your way to pick them up, and then pray for RNG to get the ones you think are the most fun.

- Power-ups only show up on your UI/HUD when you're close to them, and then if you're pretty close to them they disappear from the UI and HUD again. Also 'light grey' is not a good colour for them on your HUD against the white snow.

- Third person view doesn't let you know if the shot to your aiming reticle is obstructed. Lots of times the sniper will just shoot a rock if you're trying to peek out and shoot.

- Infantry can't really fight planes? The Smart Rocket is a timing based spawning pick up that then has to roll the RNG to land on Smart Rocket, and then the Smart Rocket is actually really Stupid and always misses even when locked on to a ship travelling away from you in a straight line. I see people just boost and gently strafe to the left/right and it always misses. Ion bullets aren't really that spectacular, I might be doing it wrong.
I've managed to instant kill a few by tossing an Ion Grenade straight up and just getting lucky.

- This game feels like Battlefield 2/3/4/5 with a Star Wars skin and theme.

Things I like:

- Low Health Pools.
- Game hides and deals with lag very well. (Until you bump into friendlies.)
- It looks pretty.
- The music is nice.
- It feels like a Starwars fight, at least the AT-AT assault level does.
- It sort just feels alright to play.

Final Score:

- 9.8/10 Pre-Ordered and recommended to all my friends.
It doesn't hit a bunch of the things we had on a whiteboard as "What is Battlefront?"

I mean, it certainly looks and sounds like Star Wars, but that's not what made Battlefront Battlefront.

Been playing it today, still playing it.

It feels very fast-paced and fun, although a bit simplistic. Would've liked to have a class system.
I've honestly been enjoying the "drop pods" TDM map more than the Hoth map.

It looks and feels like star wars but I don't think it feels like battlefront.
Here's what I think of it:
  • Spawning sucks
  • The game mode on Hoth feels like a slightly tweaked version of Rush from Battlefield.
  • It annoys me that I have to switch back to third person every time I respawn. It should put you into whatever view you had when you died.
  • Don't like how you have unlimited ammo.
  • Feels like there's absolutely no recoil while in the older battlefronts there was recoil.
  • It seems like you can kill someone from ridiculously far away with a normal full auto rifle.
  • I don't find the gameplay enjoyable but I don't find it boring either.
  • Music seems lacking compared to Battlefront 2.
I rate 4/10. Honestly this game is just building off the hype of the movie. Doesn't feel terribly exciting but it's a pretty good game to play without thinking.
