Street Fighter 4

Wasn't the Baz essentially bought by Matt and Woolie?

Anyway, I think that Goutetsu's gonna be the 5th character, pulling a hyper-Gouken.

Yes. Otherwise Capcom would sue them and he wouldn't be in Divekick.

Goutetsu's dead though.
Did that stop Gouken from showing up in Vanilla SFIV?

I wanted Victor Ortega.

But no, Ring of Destruction 2's a fighter, not a wrestling game ;-;

Since we don't have a real Capcom thread and this predicament has everything to do with USF4, I'm just going to post this here:

Can anyone say "Uh oh"?

While I don't approve of their DLC habits (Yea; SFxT, not letting you out of my sight), I'd rather not see them disappear off the face of the Earth due to them losing all their money.

same. I wont defend the SFxT shit, but a lot of their other stuff has been good, let's hope they can survive through this.

It's Capcom's fault that we, the consumers, don't want their products. It's not our fault that Capcom can't get itself together. Who cares about all the things they did 20-25 years ago when they can't do even half of that today? The problem here is that Capcom has played too many tricks on their fanbase. They have taken every advantage they could to insult us.

By continuing to put disk locked content in all their games even after we caught them and then they promised to stop. Only they continued to do it by acting like we were too stupid to notice. By continuing with that practice they were showing complete and udder disrespect for the consumers. As for me, a consumer, I will not keep paying for IPs that have lost their identity and have become a shadow of their former-selves.....don't care what they did before, it's THE PAST! What matters is what they do from here on! Most of their products have been very sub-par and that is A FACT!

Capcom is going down and their employees are getting put out in the streets, because of their bad decision making not because consumers SHOULD keep buying whatever piece of crap they throw out at us! Capcom going under is a good thing I think. They've been making more worst decisions than Microsoft and have lost connection with their fans. The franchises they created deserve a better owner. I would say Nintendo, Namco, Sega, or Sony.

Just thinking it's on us to keep a company alive, buying their products blindly no matter its quality just to keep our nostalgia alive is just down right selfish....give Capcom a little credit for being the big culprit of where they are now.

I don't want them to disappear either, but if they want to survive they need to get their shit together soon or it will end up completely burying them.

I don't think Capcom is about to die in the immediate future, but it certainly doesn't bode well. I just hope that if it ever gets to the stage where another company buys them out, then the new parent company has enough sense not to turn street fighter into something it was never supposed to be.

Capcom = Japanese EA sans the guaranteed cash from sports franchises.

In a personal opinion, i think capcom should be dissolved. We don't love the company anymore, we love the FRANCHISES.

Think about it: most of the great minds, the "faces" of capcom development team had eiter been fired or given up staying in the company due to the horrible development environment there.

The franchises we love so dearly are losing identity (Resident Evil, Devil may Cry) or its right to exist altogether (Mega Man, Darkstalkers). The reamining franchises. The few that are actually being "well treated" are being milked so badly that became a joke (SF4 became a franchise of its own) or left to rot and die while desperately needing a patch to fix the most stupid bugs (UMvC3).

Maybe they actually need to kill some old stupid businessmen leading the company and put some gamers there to see what happens. hell, even if such tactic lead them to bankrupcy, they'd die making games that people actually love.

I do agree that there needs to be restructuring in the company. by that I mean go with TBF's Pats suggestion "fire anyone who even mentioned the word sales data"

[edit]
theres also the negatives of it dissolving that we need to look into as well.

What if a shit tier company buys it? Capcom dissolving is like an onside kick, it'd be a clusterfuck and it might not work in anybody's favor.

Why is it that SF4 is being labeled as a Series but SF2, SF Alpha, SF3, etc. aren't? This'll be the Fourth update, one more than Alpha and 3, yes, but less than 2. SF2 had, what, six? Seven? And I don't really consider AE a brand new update, but more of a character pack. SFxT was scandalous, yes, and I would have preferred the game to be delayed than have 12 characters about half-way ready, but I doubt the team had the funds to do such [And not to mention the projected sales would be higher than the initial game release, which was lower than expected already.].

Because all of the others are over due to Capcom thinking they won't print money. Same goes with most of their other franchises. And SF2 had 5 competitive versions and Hyper.

If Capcom thinks they will fail, then maybe we should let them know they might. I hate saying that, but maybe they need that "Oh sh-" feeling you get when you feel like you're falling when you're napping.

But sad THQ... Maybe that's what started Capcom's angst mostly.

thing is kiddo, in the old times you NEEDED to re-launch a game to update/rebalance it. it isn't necessary anymore today, and we are still forced to pay for a rebalancing patch and have a ton of characters we might not want shoved down our throat.

That isn't necessary, it's a lame excuse to squeeze money from the community, forces the product obsolescence and it is overall stupid.

See netherrealm's example: Injustice received tons of patches, and it's still being fine-tuned every now and then, there's 6 new characters and loads of skins, AND there's a GotY version coming next month.

Even if you don't buy a single DLC (let's say you already found your main and don't give a damn about the skins) you can still play the game with every other player. Now do that with Super SF4: most players will prefer play with the ones that have the newer version, and you'll keep more and more outadted as new versions are coming out

Better yet: suppose you bought MvC3. You're screwed: in 6 months the game was turned into an outdated software with no one else to play with you online.

I know I reported a similar sale for SFxT earlier in the thread, but this time SFIV itself is on sale on steam for $15, so if any of you are planning to get the PC version before Ultra, this could save you some cash.

It's also in a package with the SFxT base game for $21

I snagged the Complete edition Friday.

So that makes the Fourth time I've bought SF4. Holy shit.

So, I just got gifted SSF4AE:2012 unnessicary amount of prefixes and suffixes edition. I think I'mma try to play Cammy cause she's got a thong leotard, that speaks to me. I don't really keep up with this game though, she any good.

She is the best character in the game.
No she isn't.

Cammy is the best character to win with if you want to win quickly. She is also top 3 in pretty much every tier list. I judge a characters strength based on how scary they are as they get more meter, and she is very very scary. I don't have a concrete tier list but imo she is tied for strongest character.

hmmm, I wasn't actually expecting cammy to be good. Pretty cool to hear though.

I keep hearing that Cammy is definitely top 3 (and I don't disagree), but I can never figure out who the other top 3 character is apart from Akuma. Is it supposed to be Seth? Adon?

Sagat. Ken. Yun. Balrog. Yang.

Apparently they'll be revealing the fifth character soon. Get Hype.

Have they actually said they are going to announce it, or are people just trying to guess what this blog post was all about?

I doubt they'd reveal the character so far out from release, but I won't complain if they do.

Let's see if it's Ono.

...
Or Daigo.
*shot*

Jokes on you.

IT'S ALEX VALLE

What if it's the new game mode?

what if they add a REAL story mode, like KoF or Blazblue?

nah, that would cost money and effort. Capcom don't make new stuff that requires any of these

Sven stated back in April already that they plan to put more effort into their single player content in fighters including a legit story mode no doubt after seeing how well other fighters performed in that area. However this is assuming they make a fighter anytime soon after USFIV drops.
