    Crosspost from the Cthulhu Thread

Another bump, but this is pretty wicked.

Achtung! Cthulhu! A series of books on roleplaying Cthulhu (in eihter 6th Edition, or Savage Worlds) is up to 70% off for a MONTH on Drivethru RPG, you can get the bundle of pretty mcuh every book for as low as $44.

Secondly, On Darker Trails has released.
For all y'all that want your Cthulhu with a dash of Wild West flavor.

    Now for non-Cthulhu stuff.
My group actually had to get delayed to start our Ryuutama campaign next week due to anxiety brought about by unrelated reasons, and because no one set up a Roll20 account.
I'm hoping it goes well because I already want to do another campaign in Ryuutama (A Sea or Air themed one)

    Another Bump, but holy shit.
I know there's some Warhammer Fanatics in here.
    Guess what?

    Humble Bundle's got your back.
They just put out a MASSIVE Humble Warhammer Fantasy Bundle.
Comes with practically every book for $20.
If you're like me and just care about the fluff, there's also the stuff about the setting.
There ya go, go grab it.

    It might.
Cubicle7 (I think,I could be wrong) Also has the rights to Warhammer 40K, they just haven't uploaded the PDFs for the 5 RPGs yet.
But if someone else has the rights, it's possible that bundle won't happen

But if Cubicle 7 DOES have the 40K rights, expect it.
They put their bigger name games up on Humble Bundle.
And even if it doesn't go there, it could end up on Bundle of Holding.

It depends, usually Bundle of Holding has around 5-15-ish books depending on how long each book is.
With Humble Bundle, all bets are off.
The Doctor Who Bundle had like, at least 15 books, and 5+ more because why not
And the current bundle must have like 20 something books.

Just had a weird dream where i Dm'd a session where everything didn't go right. No, not the session.. the actual story. Like, a dwarf drinks som'in, he doesn't feel it but a random npc near by starts gagging, yelling "YE GODS! THAT WAS HORRIBLE!" or some crazy random shit. I dono if I really want to sit down and flesh it out XD sounds entertaining.

Doing my civic duty and listin' the newest Bundle of Holding Deal.
Are you one of those grognards that pines for the old days where adventures and campaigns were lethal, and you had the inkling suspicion that your GM's sourcebook wanted you dead?
Here's Lamentations of the Flame Princess +2 Bundle
Comes with the game itself, which is an "Old School" game (Not my style, unfortunately), as well as a healthy heaping of supplements and campaigns.

I can't quite get into this, seems Edgy for the sake of being Edgy, and it feels like it's trying way too hard to be NSFW and "adult"

However, it DOES come with Veins of the Earth, a widely praised supplement even if you don't like Lamentations of the Flame Princess, so that's something at least.

Also, update on Warhammer 40K for @ArgonBern
A bloke named "Ulisses Spiele" owns the rights to the Warhammer 40K RPG rights at the mometn, they also have the rights to "The Dark Eye", which may or may not have been on Bundle of Holding before.
I think it's possible they'll get bundled up someitme soon.
    They're on Drivethru RPG, currently.
Certainly have enough books to end up in a bundle...

Last Nechronica session: Met a flaming skeleton who turned out to have once been a nurse at the hospital where I died. She then proceeded to make an enormous sacrifice for me in order to finally fulfill a promise she made to my parents all those centuries ago. Tears were shed (in and out of character).

So tomorrow Bundle of Holding gets a Demon: The Descent Bundle. (Will be updated with a link when its up)
    Which is... awesome.

    Basically, imagine this.
God is a machine/almighty programmed creature that rules over all reality.
It's "Angels" are basically programs, think Agents from the Matrix.
Except you. You defected from your programming and got consciousness, so you fell and are now amongst mortals and other "Demons" while agents of the Machine are hunting you.
That's the roughest summary I can give of it from what I know but it sounds awesome.

Said I'd update the post but eh.
    Another cool deal has materialized.
    As promised

Demon: The Descent Bundle on Bundle of Holding
Comes with a lot of Demon supplements, and because the regular price of Demon: The Descent is basically $25 anyway, you're basically paying for the full game + a lot of cool shit.
No reason to pass on it.

    Anyway, second deal.
7th Sea has opened another Kickstarter, this time for an entirely new setting (This one focused on more Eastern settings/flair, not just Japan, the Pacific Rim in general.)
    It's called 7th Sea: Khitai
Why am I listing it as a deal?
If you back at the $45 level you get:
The Khitai PDF, plus any extra books from the Stretch Goals
    and
7th Sea 2nd Edition Core rulebook plus all ten sourcebooks that came from the last Kickstarter.
So that's at least 20+ books for $45 and for Eastern Style Flair.
    Definitely a good deal.

So. Me and the group tried the star wars pen and paper from Fantasy Flight. And uh, we find some imperial data pads. My boyfriend said that one of them said it had gungan porn. It became a running gag for the rest of the session. A friend was all "messa thinksa yousa blaster rifle isa so big" in that perfect Jar Jar style and all. Even different lines and all.

Humble Bundle's got a rehash of their previous Pathfinder Worldscape bundle going on. It's got some different sourcebooks and comics from the previous bundle, like the Blood of the Moon trilogy and the adventure Masks of the Living God. The core's still the same, though: Pathfinder books (including the core rulebook and digital beginner box for stupidly cheap) and IDW comics partially themed after the Pathfinder Worldscape mega crossover. At the top level, there's even physical figures of the non-Pathfinder Worldscape heroes.

Over at Bundle of Holding, there's a Demon: the Descent bundle, as well as two Cthulhu-themed bundles, one being a resurrection of their Cthulhu Britannica bundle and the other being a World War Cthulhu bundle. Think WW2 combined with typical Mythos themes and scenes.

Pathfinder has a very large and consitent setting, from what I've seen, but you can make some exotic high-fantasy/advance mechanical adventures if you like. Someone can prob explain it better than me

Anyway, final Bundle of Holding for October maybe.
    Savage Worlds: Rippers
Seems to be Victorian-era Horror fighting adventures.
Looks kinda neat, and the price is extremely cheap.

Man, tons of games are trying to be Stranger Things, lately.
Or any game set in the '80s
There's Tales from the Loop, which is an alternate 80s which you can prob homebrew into any setting with kids and mysteries you want
Dark Places and Demigorgons which specifically seems to want to be Stranger Things
Rememorex which is more standard '80s stuff
And Monster Hunters Club which is Fright Night, Stranger Things. Etc

This is gonna be one congested subgenre but I also kinda want them all to do good.

Some of these do sound good, though, like a few have their own identities (like one focuses more on High School, while another focuses more on Children/Tweens), and I'm glad not ALL them go straight for Stranger Things, some go for Goonies, Monster Squad (And yes, I think references to that joke are mandatory), and even Fright Night.
It's basically all over the place, one Kickstarter Goal has It as a Stretch Goal (Going back and forth between Children/ADults and Flash Backs), while another Stretch Goal for a different game. focuses on vampires.
I dunno, I'd play all of them, but I wish them well.

If I played any of them, though, I'd prob homebrew something Fair/Folklore related and make it more Gravity Falls-y.

I won't lie to you: i think the rules are weird and the flavour names do more harm than good in these parts, but the setting deserves some attention. Maybe a conversion for an simpler or more commom system.

More like it's from Discord, and word spread via 4chan! I know some of the translation team has some light disdain for 4chan, actually.

Honestly, Nechronica is one of the simplest, easiest to jump into system I know. It's incredibly beginner friendly IMO. I think it's a better introductory system then dnd anything. I've tried other systems afterwards, and they feel like clusterfucks in comparison to the games streamlined elegance.

The rules also support the tone/premise quite well. The strategic dismemberment, the madness system, the way enemies are designed, etc. Everything perfectly supports the idea of an emotional struggle to retain ones innocence, humanity, and kindness in a dog-eat-dog, body-horror driven post-apocalyptic sci-fantasy world.

I don't know if they made an official english translation, but search for a system called "3d&t". It's a classic in Brazil for its simplicity and agility in battle.

Anyway, the convoluted part in Nechronica battle, for what i'm reading so far is the battle grid/track and the constant speak/add/remove madness. Constant conversation checks in the middle of the battle sounds weird in theory. maybe it wraps better with the rest in a full session.

Ah! and the names. There's absolutely no need to add all that flavor names and tie skills' meaning to that. The hell/limbo/tartarus etc in the battle grid isn't helpful. Even a front 3/2/1/ center / rear 1 /2/3 would be better suited. Some names just doesn't seems to blend meaning and function well (why the hell the tank is a "Stacy"? What resilient meaning does that evoke that i lost in translation)

There are no conversation checks in battle, unless you have a special skill that lets you make one.

Convo checks basically work like this: outside of combat, if two players are role playing really well, the gm can allow them to roll a dice (adding +'s to the dice if it was really good) to remove a point of madness.

The battle system itself might be tricky to visualize from just reading about it, but it's very simple when you actually see it. Basically, time "counts down", and players/enemies are allowed to perform an action when it reaches their AP number (or you can act early with a "rapid" manuever, but those are limited use). Each action has a cost, and when you perform it your AP gets reduced by that amount, moving you down. Time continues counting down until it reaches your current AP number again, or until the counter hits 0, at which point everything resets.

You could call it a mini war-game in its emphasis on positioning, reactions, and counters. It's very tactical. The kind of thing you only need to see once to learn how to play, but that you'll keep on learning new tactics and exploits as you continue to play.

I dunno man, naming classes after different types of art (Baroque, Romanesque, Gothic, Psychedelic) is fucking rad. The battle grid names are certainly flowery, but there's only 5 of them. It's a lot easier to remember that the "nice" sounding ones (eden) are closer to the player side and the "scary" sounding ones are for enemies (hades), than it is to keep track of the ungodly number of stats and how you use them in some other games.

Stacy is actually a Japanese horror movie reference. Many of the parts are (Crab Legs is actually written as Tachikoma legs, the lawnmower is a reference to Dead Alive, etc.)

Yup, it has most of it. A lot if modular (the entire racial and magic system depends on the setting), but the simplicity of the attributes and battle system is beautiful. It also puts things that actually requires roleplaying (charisma and quick thinking) outside of basic attributes. You can use special advantages and disadvantages to change it (Genius/Unculture and Good Fame/Bad Fame), but most of it goes back to the player, instead of having him just rolling dice to sweet-talk someone without spewing a single on-character word
