The canon info thread - what we know

If the skullheart has been around for centuries why has no one realized "hm this whole wish thing might be a sham". So has anyone wished to be a weak skullgirl. Also without the use of modern weapons how did ancient civilizations defeat the skullheart?

Parasites and Living Weapons.

That was easy to solve.

Alex also said that Annie has noticed that Skullgirls have been getting more powerful lately, so perhaps the older ones aren't quite as powerful.

So has anyone wished to be a weak skullgirl.
A troll wish is easy to throw away while considering things from the comfortable position of not-being-there, but when it comes to business, I doubt anyone would sacrifice their life just to take a gamble and push the Skullheart's buttons.

I'm guessing that over the ages people who willingly faced the Skullgirl belonged to either of two camps: 1) "kill the Skullgirl to make a selfish wish" and 2) "kill the Skullgirl to destroy the Skullheart", with the 3rd camp of "kill the Skullgirl to fail at outsmarting the Skullheart" severely uninhabited.

But if Lab 0 got it...

...

I think that third option would open up.

Lab 0 did get it. In valentines ending (I think) she brings it back to Lab 0 causing major chaos and destruction to happen.

No, that's in the unused Valentine ending. In real Val ending she wishes on the heart.

So if Marie is a weak Skullgirl is she not progressing like the others as Annie noted cause she's in control or cause she's young?

So if Marie is a weak Skullgirl is she not progressing like the others as Annie noted cause she's in control or cause she's young?

It's because she is resisting the Skullgirls control.

This is really minor, but the only move on Robo-Fortune's command list is a Theonite Beam. So Robo-Fortune's lasers are derived from Theonite. By the way, it's pretty much confirmed that it's crystalline right?

Hmm, it would make sense but I don't remember if it being confirmed.

A "-ite" suffix denotes a mineral. Past that, no idea.

I guess it's like Mako energy it powers everything but no one knows what's in it

Since you created that cat (lock n load) what's its relationship with cerebella (a pet or something weirder than that) probably a dumb question but.

Mike_Z said:
It resides on the Astral Plane (think Guenhwyvar) and enjoys seeing people git shot by those GUNS that Vice Versa packs. But it's lazy so it only visits occasionally. And for Halloween it dresses up like a soccer ball.

Looks legit.

Back on topic though, this is what I have on Theonite uses:
  • Parasites and Living Weapons are said to be created using Theonite. Some are mentioned to use or feed off Theonite to strengthen their powers.
  • Isaac has been using shards of a unique type of Theonite he discovered in his search to time travel.
  • Anti-Skullgirl Lab 6 specialized in Theonite research, to discover the full capabilities of the material.
  • Dr. Avian used Theonite to balance out Peacock and prevent soul contamination, a mental corruption that occurs in people possessing multiple (synthetic or natural) Parasites.
  • Theonite has a big involvement with the Skullgirl. Using a Theonite Resonance Detector, Peacock and her crew were able to close in on the Skullgirl.
- Theonite resonance is a spike of energy that comes from strong constriction of Theonite. Several spots in New Meridian have been mentioned to contain Theonite resonance. However, the biggest source comes from the Skullgirl herself.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Robot Fortune is also able to fire lasers of Theonite, meaning it can be used to create energy people can use as well. How effective this is for anything aside from robots like R.Fortune isn't clear, but could Theonite be an effective energy weapon compared to other sources?

EDIT: This also means that there could be some sort of comparison to modern means of producing energy to alternative ways to powerup parasites?

Dude, even the weapons/firearms from the SGVerse are using theonite as ammunitions.

Can you guys word your posts a little more clearly? It sounds like you're saying that Theonite is a very common substance that's used for everything in the Skullgirls Universe, which it's not.

Well...I'm an idiot...haven't we already established this? XD

I think most of this info here is correct, but as I mentioned on the first posts, the info I collected there are to supplement official bio and lore that are mentioned in the game. I try not to list info that are already presented in official sources.

EDIT: Re-reading your post, I just realised that you were just listing out some Theonite facts rather than suggesting some entries to add to the first post. Whoops. Editing below post accordingly.

Anyway let me go through these one-by-one.
  • Parasites and Living Weapons are said to be created using Theonite. Some are mentioned to use or feed off Theonite to strengthen their powers.
Theonite is indeed used to create Living Weapons, but not Parasites. (However it is unclear how Artificial Parasites are created at this point but likely Theonite has something to do with that.) Both do have connection to Theonite though. More on this later down the post.

I'm not sure where the info that some Parasites and Living Weapons feed off Theonite came from though? It would make sense but I don't remember it being confirmed. Can you let me know your source?

Yep these look correct to me.

For this last point, as I previously mentioned, we should probably make clear the distinction between Theonite the mineral and the (currently unnamed) substance that makes up Theonite, Parasites and Living Weapons.

Since I'm on the subject, in the real world, the "-ite" suffix used in chemistry is used to denote a negative ion, or compounds that contain such ions. For example, Nitrite is a molecule containing nitrogen and oxygen atoms, with a -1 charge.

I doubt Alex was looking at the technical scientific definition of an -ite though, so most likely he just used it to denote that it's a type of mineral. :p However, what I think he is getting at is that Theonite is simply the mineral form of a more fundamental substance that makes up Parasites and such related beings.

Thanks, that helped clear thing up! I think the thing about Parasites being created from Theonite came from the first post:

"Parasites, Artificial Parasites and Living Weapons:
- Theonite is an element which is the source of both Parasites and Living Weapons."

I think that was from confusion on the way it was worded like you said - it has some unknown relation with theonite but is not directly created from theonite.

Btw, does theonite come from the word theon (with the -ite suffix)? I'm guessing it's partly speculation from that that makes it often related with parasites as much as it is.

Yep, the confusing wording stems from the fact that Alex revealed previously that Parasites and Living Weapons originated from the same source and Theonite is a common link between them. Most people thought that meant Theonite was the substance that made up Parasites and Living Weapons, including me which was why I worded the first post that way. However Alex recently told Night Phyre that Theonite is what is used to made Living Weapons while Parasites are derived directly from the Skull Heart. Putting 2 and 2 together, that means that the "common source" is something more fundamental than Theonite.

But yeah, I'm pretty sure the word is derived from the Theons, or at least must share a common origin.

WAT, but aren't some parasites older than the Skull Heart itself?! What is even happening anymore?!

Yeah that directly contradicts what Leviathan said in Squigly's story mode.
Is this just a plot hole?

I see two options that take both statements into account

1) Samson and Leviathan had some kind of non-parasite form at some point and the Skull heart transformed them into parasites.
2) Samson and Leviathan originated from the Skull heart but existed for a while before it began exerting influence over humans.

I tought theons existed before the Skull Heart as implied by Leviathan and Sekhmet (is that how you say it?), it's even been implied that Eliza is the reason there is a Skull Heart to begin with, that it was created as revenge for killing Lamia's 2 daughters and destroying her kingdom (which was probably of theons), i'd say this was just an accidental plot hole he made with that statement, anyone can contact Alex to ask him about it? because i dunno how to contact him, i don't use twitter or know where else to contact him and he will also probably just ignore me.

However the theons coming from the Skull Heart would also explain the racism people has for them, but i think Samson said in Eliza story mode that the people hating on theons is also her fault, i dunno if it's true or Samson was just trying to piss her off.

Just cause they came from the Skullheart doesn't mean they are self aware of that fact similar to how a baby can be given to an orphanage and not know their parents so for all they know they existed then the Skull heart appeared and Lamia and Mother are different beings in one so while the Skullheart has Lamia's revenge, it could've been around with Mother for a longer time.

According to the wiki Umbrella set out to search for the Skullheart because of a recurring dream from which she was haunted. Is this confirmed or what?

As in "you just answered yourself" or "you shouldn't trust the wiki"? I'm asking because I don't know where that comes from.

Another thing I was thinking about was living weapons. While parasites act as companions and can have personality themselves, do living weapons have less sentience than parasites? There seems to be no reports of talking ones (to me at least, shame on me if there are) but from what I see I'd compare them to plant lives, while parasites seem way closer to being similar to people in character; living weapons seem to lack of it.

Yeah I'm the worst when it comes to questions and arguments, and yes I know this is no Q&A.

I think that topic was already discussed a few pages ago, but yeah, some living weapons show more levels of sentience than others and parasites tend to have more since they are, indeed, living organism with the ability to use logic, have desires, goals and stuff.

do living weapons have less sentience than parasites?
Parasites are sentient, whereas living weapons (despite how expressive Vice Versa might seem) are not.

Well sentient means that something is able to experience and feel things, which living weapons arguably do.
I think a better way to put it is that Parasites are like people and living weapons are like animals.

I assumed living weapons feel less than plants - that they're non-sentient in the way that without a user wielding them, they're basically dead and inanimate.
Basically a puppet only seeming alive in the right hands, or a glorified firearm.
I cannot find a reliable source on that, however.

It's probably because most living weapons can't talk.

Let's just say Parasites are more expressive.

Most or all. If I recall correctly, the only known (to us) living weapons are Vice Versa, the Renoir family umbrellas and D.Violet's Pazuzu whip - out of which only Parasoul's Krieg and Bella's Vice Versa are playable and therefore fully canon in behaviour for now.

Krieg doesn't appear expressive at all - just like Parasoul it is stern and focused. Vice Versa is expressive in a cocky way, but his expressions generally connect to how Cerebella acts and feels. Hungern only exists in moveset concept art - in which he appeared energetic and expressive, just like Umbrella.

That said, my assumption is that living weapons do not experience emotions of their own - they merely reflect how their wielder feels at the moment via a telepathic-esque control connection.
