So first off, first forum post so I hope I am doing this correctly. Second, I should explain how I got to this point.

Last weekend (Aug 9th) I found myself watching Skullgirls streams on twitch, whenever one popped up that is and decided to try and play the game. Come Wednesday (Aug 13th) I purchased said game and was extremely excited. I was to finally attempt to play a fighting game and not suck at it! Boy did I have a surprise! Yesterday (Aug 14th) I learned that even though going through the tutorial set me up well for basics of the game, I have absolutely NO idea on how to play fighting games.

So, after the tutorial, I decided to skip training and head straight into story mode, but played it on Sleepwalker difficulty. You would not believe me if I told you that I died. Multiple times. In the same story. So needless to say, I need to hit training tonight and see how I can fix this thing up!

I am always open to CONSTRUCTIVE Criticism, none of that "LOL luzer, g0 k1ll yurself" crap! If anyone actually reads this, thanks, that means a lot actually!

Anywho, it's Friday August 15th and I won't be able to play until tonight when I get home so hopefully I will learn not to suck in the next month :PUN:

I have no idea where to start in learning how to fighting game. I think I will need a little more time to learn who I want to main with, and get used to keyboard controls first, but I think the thing I am worried most about is combos and blocking: two things that are the bane of my casual fighting game career.

Uhhhh the general rule of combos for skullgirls is that moves are cancelable from light to heavy to special to super

lp(unch)->mp->hp->whatever quartercircle motion you want one button->quartercircle motion and two buttons

lk(ick)->mk->hk->... etc.

I mean that's the general gist of it. If you're dying to Marie though don't worry about that because Marie is pretty much unfair 100% of the time

I feel physical pain right now.
To be honest you don't really "need" combos to win. Not at your level anyway. Personally, I spent 50-60 hours with a combo that was composed of: st.lk st.mk(2) j.lk j.mk
So, instead of focusing on combos I'd recommend that you start learning neutral first. Get used to your normals first!
Blocking will come to you naturally over time though.
Add me on steam if you want a sparring partner! :P

Thanks for the advice guys! I will definitely start getting used to my normals tonight, and attempt stringing them together later! :D I don't think I'll be sparring just quite yet @Fumako, but thanks for the offer!
