YEEEP. So, yeah. Let's talk some Zelda.

Wind Waker HD just came out, loving every minute of it. Thoughts?

I did a long %100 run of it, given I haven't played it since the GC days. Still a personal favorite, and while the graphics were nice to look at, the intense bloom wasn't always needed.

Looking forward to A Link Between Worlds, too. If Aonuma can even deliver on half of what he's promising, it's going to be fantastic.

Awww yaeh! I was waiting for this!
I got Wind Waker HD with my shiny Wii. The gamepad is awesome and I am definitely enjoying it, no doubt
The Miiverse thing is like the greatest thing ever.

Link Between worlds looks great, and I hope that Majora's Mask tease is something timeline related.
And not just a mention of the mask in the shop

My personal favorites are Link to The Past & Link's Awakening DX. Those two are classics.

Anyone else not understand why people hate Skyward Sword?
I mean, I havne't made it to the first temple, but I'm really digging and enjoying it.
Is it because of the control scheme?
Is it because of Fi?

Yes, and yes. Fi just has a bad habit of stating the most obvious conclusions during every event/cutscene as well as having to be the one to remind you your batteries were dying (Though as a character with little personality, she was still pretty cool).

Skyward is still a damn fine game, though. Had a lot of fun with it, and the music was superb.

Ahh Zelda. Personally my favorite is Majora's Mask, but WW is right after that. The only reason I haven't picked up WW HD yet is college.

Control scheme? No the controls are flawless from my experience, best in any Zelda game yet.
Fi? Well yea she's more obnoxious than Navi and provides hardly any help, but she's no gamebreaker.
The real problems lie more within the overall structure of the game. There are a lot of things wrong with Skyward Sword which you really can't understand until you take a retrospective look at the game as a whole a few months after finishing it, so it makes sense that you wouldn't get it at the first temple. Personally when I first played it I was happy to give it a 10/10 and proclaim it as better than OoT. After looking back on it though, I'm realizing the various issues, and now it's more like a 9.2-9.5 for me, and I have a lot of trouble deciding whether it or OoT is better. That being said, not considering the fact that it's a Zelda game, it's still an amazing game on its own.

1 Month later...

Anyone getting A Link Between Worlds at Launch?
I was considering it, but given it comes out on a friday and there's almost no reason to jump for it at launch... I dunno...

This made Skyward Sword the best Zelda

Ghirahim_Artwork.png

Best Theme. Best Everything.

Let's kill each other over which is the best Zelda! I didn't like Majora's Mask shoot me. The story was great mind you but the dungeons and shit were agonizing (stone tower temple) or just plain too easy (all the other dungeons). The side quests were the only fun parts. I also can't Goron so getting the fierce deity's mask was a pain.

Stone tower Temple is my favorite temple in any Zelda game ever. You need to get your priorities straight.

So
Skull Kids.
Basically my favorite concept for anything ever.
A lost child turned into a fae/possibly undead creature that still retains enough of it's child humanity to still be playful (of a sort) and childish.
It's interesting, unique, and sad. And there's just so much that can be done with such an idea.
Really which there were more Skull Kids out there besides the OoT one.

Stone tower temple is a mind fuck especially if it's the first time you play it because the upside down part really screws you over. I almost lost all my progress on it too because it was the third day. I also hate back tracking it's really annoying. DON'T FORGET THAT TINY INSIGNIFICANT THING IT'LL BE IMPORTANT LATER. Honestly every Water Temple is better than to end up in fetal position because you forgot the smallest thing ever. (Actually OoTs Water Temple was sort of like that so yeah but at least THAT was easier you didn't have a moon about to crush everything forcing you into a panic because that progress is gone if you don't finish it on that day.)

I might just be biased because I still believe OoT was the best because it was my first Zelda. :/ Well actually SS and WW are tied for first but OoT has that special spot in my heart.

Skull Kid was the most depressing fuck ever. Get lost in a forest. Then, Skull Kid. You now have to defend yourself from non-Kokiri/children since young Link was liked by them even though he was non-Kokiri.

The thing that's interesting is there simply have to be more Skull Kids.
I find it hard to believe that in the thousand plus years in Hyrule's history, only ONE got lost in the forest without a forest.
But so far the only one we've seen is the OoT/MM one, which is the same one...and TP Skull Kid, which is still implied to be the same one.
I wouldn't mind seeing more Skull Kids.
I mean a Girl Skull Kid would probably be adorable as fuck
(And I have commissioned a Skull Kid Alternate version of one of my female characters because I like that idea that much)

I like to pretend that Skull Kid is immortal because of Majora's Mask that and he's friends with the four giants which I assume were immortal too maybe they shared the secret (It's anti-aging lotion) and because the mask left some permanent brain damage and eventually he murdered his fellow skull kids and then uses them as puppets. Spooky.

That aside I'd also like to see some more tricksters and lady tricksters they'd make for a great humorous part of the game.

I like to think Skull Kids are immortal in general, but eh, who knows? Info on them is criminally limited, it's up to fans to fill in the games, so basically almost everything about them besides the basic info is speculatively.

But I do really hope they make an appearance in another game, seriously, ideas too good to not use.
I cheered when the Skull Kid was in TP, even with that pretty crazy redesign.

Favourite game is Skyward Sword because it's just beautiful in every way and probably one of the only origin stories I love in a video game (minus Okami) ever. I have played:
Majora's Mask
Twilight Princess
That's it.

And I didn't even finish either of them.

So uh.
I got a preorder for Link Between Worlds.
I couldn't resist anymore.
Probably gonna be really good.
So guys.
Have you seen the launch trailer? It's great.

ALBW has been pretty good so far, the 60fps is a nice thing to have even with the 3d on. I've been doing a lot of wondering around to see what's changed and what hasn't.

I've just snuck into Lorule, myself. The arrangement of the Dark World theme is fantastic, It's been a good ride so far, so I hope it maintains that till the very end. I've enjoyed Yuga, and his battle music is awesome! Though I was a bit disappointed to find out that it's a he. Haven't had a female villain since what, Veran? And Ghirahim already set the bar for fabulous and a deadly villain.

Hyrule Warriors Japanese Release Date Set

Hyrule Warriors, Nintendo and Tecmo Koei’s upcoming Dynasty Warriors-like Zelda game, will launch for Wii U in Japan on August 14, the latest issue of Famitsu reveals.

The magazine also appears to have first details on the game’s story. But until clearer scans or information are out, we won’t be able to tell you about it.

looks like a combination of OoT Impa and SS Impa as well

tasty

More info on it. Also, I know it's Impa. I didn't have time to change it before I left.

  • The game will cost 7,000-something yen at retail and 6,000-something yen via the Nintendo eShop. A Premium Box will be released for 10,000-something yen.
  • Development is being handled by Omega Force and Team Ninja.
  • Hisashi Koinuma and Yosuke Hayashi are producing. Eiji Aonuma is supervising.
  • Link, alongside characters like Impa, will face against a new witch enemy named Shea, as well as her subordinates Va** and Wi**.
  • Shea is controlled by a dark evil power and Link goes in search of the missing Princess Zelda.
  • Fields include “Hyrule Plains,” etc.
  • A surprising character will be playable.

Another update

Hyrule Warriors will have a 2-player mode, this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine reports. One player will play on the television screen, while another will use the Wii U GamePad.

The game will also implement a system whereby equipping characters with different weapons will change the way they fight. Certain weapons, like one-handed swords, will focus on speed, while heavier weapons will prioritize damage instead. The game will also include a weapon upgrade system, and some sort of character progression.

In addition to Link, one of the game’s confirmed playable characters is Impa, who leads the Elite Guard. Impa fights using a long sword. Famitsu says a number of characters will be playable in the game.

Additionally, Famitsu reports that The Legend of Zelda’s Z-targeting feature is in the game, too, and it will allow you to both dodge as well as target weak spots on enemies. You’ll also have access to the Spin Attack, along with bombs, which will have uses beyond just tossing at enemies.

Hyrule Warriors is currently 70% of the way through development, and will be playable at E3. While it doesn’t have a release date in the West yet, Japan will see the game on August 14th. A premium box version will come with a clock shaped like the Triforce and codes for 6 special costumes.

"Famitsu says a number of characters will be playable in the game."

All I wanted to hear.

Alright everyone, here's my million dollar idea.
Imagine a game where you play as Link, but Zelda serves as your partner. I am not talking about Zelda as support, or Zelda as a magic user, or Zelda as a tactician. I am talking about Zelda as a knight, who's just as capable as Link. This kind of game would be great not just for developing Link and Zelda as characters, but also for introducing much needed originality to a very reliable but dated formula. Imagine The Legend of Zelda combined with Resident Evil 5, Prince of Persia (2008), or Army of Two, games where cooperation is key. I know that my ideas will never see fruition but I'd like to hear what other Zelda fans think about this.

So , I'm gonna finally pick Skyward Sword back up in my crusade to exhaust my Wii game library.
Any tips or anything?

Don't.
I mean, there's really no point to replaying the game, unless you're like me and never finished the thing.
In which case, I dunno, get a goddess shield and don't bother straying from the main storyline.

Oh yeah, shield durability was such a pain in the ass, there was really no reason to implement that.
Skyward Sword was a lot of fun for me though, but I wouldn't recommend buying it, rent or borrow it instead.

Whenever I try to replay SS, I always get burnt out when I finish the first dungeon. I'll take Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, or any other Zelda game over Skyward Sword, any day of the week.

...
...
...
Psst, Jutsei. If you finish SS, can I have your copy? I don't have a MotionPlus, but whatever.
:PUN: (Kidding, i'll buy my own copy if I want it.)

Co-Op game with both Link and Zelda
To add to this, how about going all the way and make it 4-player, Four Swords style? It could be Link and Zelda, with two others (Impa is my first thought, but maybe also a Goron, Tingle, some other such character?), and give it a Super Mario Bros. 2/3D World twist where each character has a divergent quirk to make it worth playing each character (Link can use any item as the rounded-out character, Zelda is best with bows and maybe magic, Impa can move and attack faster than the others, etc.)

Kinda can't give away my SS copy, I have a policy of never giving away or selling games I got as gifts. I just can't do it.

Still though, I am looking forward to playing SS.
