okay lets get it on

what's up
  1. Well honestly, I'm awful at Peacock. Need to fix this. Zoning and aggro/rush.
  2. I can't defend against a lot of Filia mix ups. Mostly in air ones. I do okay with grounded!
  3. Last I checked, my Para + Opponents Head On Fortune + Close Range = Dead Parasoul. Needs fixed.
  4. What is a safe Cerebella blockstring? I get away with so much, I don't really know.
  5. Where are my throw reset points in Parasoul's ground chains? I'm an Aerosoul and I like crossunder/throw stuff, so I get avoided/wrecked by air dashers. Also, what do with Squigly when grave reaction on fLP? Bait it? And what's my smart poke option on crossunder? sLP? cLP?
  6. I hit a roof with Double and Squigly which is why I dropped them for Peacock. Not ENTIRELY why, and mind you, I've been through this with the rest of the roster, though some characters don't appeal to me or I've simply hit the roof right off the bat. See: Filia and Painwheel. WTF do son? IDGI. Do moves, air dash, do more moves, but all my stuff is NAH SON. Parasoul? do moves do moves do moves hey combo check it out. Cerebella yeah pretty much same. Air dashers I'm just ??? so ??? ? ?// ? what I don't get it I'm sorry the only air dash I even get is Peacock's and that airdash is some crazy stuff. Double I hit a roof with tech because I'm Dumble. Squigly too.
  7. i talk too much (not sg related)
  8. no seriously how to zoners do this pattern stuff i wanna learn to be called BS too please come play my platformer
  9. I get tore up by simple players sometimes that have one combo and no resets and I have no idea why lmao kryptonite pls
  10. and not in the way you think by like risky stuff but more like getting owned by risky stuff (its karma isnt it)
  11. quick match makes me salty and matches where i learn about new ways to get owned but dont learn how to not get owned by said new ways make me salty and if im not having fun playing the game i shouldn't be playing it :(
  12. i actually like getting beat up if i learn something from it (this is not a problem im just putting it in the list i mean this list is screwed so do you really care, this is the best formatting i've gotten, i almost attributed this to choosegoose and hlvn but then i was like nah because imma edit it and then screw up the list and look here we are, look how far we've come, goodbye now, see you next week)

  1. As far as I know, there really isn't one, unless you count c.lp (or c.lk) -> stop as a "blockstring". End it in a mixup, hope they guess wrong.

iirc, s.hp/c.hp/c.hk xx Runstop is safe

Haha. I've actually seen that.

iirc, s.hp/c.hp/c.hk xx Runstop is safe

It's also close to a multitude of reset points and I may not always have a charge. (This is a lie, I always have a charge. But still.)

EDIT: You can't quote quotes. This heart is for Muro. @Muro <3

c.HK is ±0 on Block, so you don't even need runstop to make it safe.

Actually now I think I've seen that somewhere. Is this Cerebella only or is sweep a good ender for some other character on block? I know Peacock I just throw LBomb and Squigly I stancel or Arpeggio, IIRC. With Para I usually end in LShot, but I never looked to see if that's safe and I doubt it is entirely? @IsaVulpes

http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Skullgirls/Frame_Data_Ref :P
L.Tearshot is usually +5 or something on Block so it's really good,
But be aware that almost nothing in this game is 'truly' safe due to the presence of PBGC
(eg if you do [c.LK c.MK s.HPx2 xx L.Shot] and they pushblock the c.LK, by the time you Tearshot they can DP you)

Yes I'm aware of the PBGC foiling things like MLuger from Double. Thanks for the reminder!

I have seen that page many times honestly and.. I won't lie. I just never bothered reading it. I like the Frame Data tool in game more but I'm still learning how to interpret it into something useful I understand other than figuring out what my fastest poke is. :P I'm smart but I'm, uh, slow at first. Thanks Isa.

M Luger is unsafe the old fashioned way, no PBGC required. Stuff around jab speed punishes it, so the punish is often "only" stuff like raw supers outside the corner because of range, but it's unsafe (and the punish point is in uncancellable time for the luger so you can't countersuper either). If you get into a blockstring with Double against someone who knows punishes you have to shenanigan your way out with chain-or-stop-chaining frame traps, baits, assist + flesh step mixups, etc.

whats up vol 2 with much lazier formatting (could it get any lazier)

the baes
  1. I was mad at my Parasoul but now I'm ok with her, I need to play her a lot more to stay and git gud with her, I still love her and I miss her on point. Learn to react to her own shit and also do it more often! cLK bHK, etc. Oh, nail down Anti-BB combo. I mean, it's simple, but nail it down. Also practice tear tossing + detonating tears from it+shots. SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS. Master backthrow + bike, you asshole! Seriously! Oh, and learn the double crossunder stuff off bHK and LEARN TO DO IT INSIDE A BNB and not simple off bHK reset. And stop goofing those up too.
  2. Peacock I still love but I'm putting her on the backburner except maybe in retail matches. Learn item drop mixups, you doof! I know you don't like that you have to use odd finger combinations and button dashing while holding MDrop doesn't work because you haven't changed your macro yet or you won't learn to stick dash. Do something! You can't rely on jHK mixups, everyone is just air dashing out of them. Stop dropping the BNB too! And learn some new strings. Really. You're piss poor with this character. You don't even have a proper zoning pattern. Impromptu is good and don't forget it, but learn at least 2 patterns and another BNB. And nail down Anti-BB combo.
  3. Cerebella.. I didn't want to ditch you or Parasoul. I still love playing you. Fukua helped me understand the concept of low/throw a bit more and I'm ready to apply it to you. My gimmicks are pretty good, but I need to step it up, and I need to nail down some complex strings to give myself more flexibility and power in game. Learn the timings for sHP > Pummel Horse, Kanchou > cHP jMP jHK (check if universal, test on Parasoul first since I learned it there), learn some proper low/throw scenarios that aren't going to get you wrecked for attempting them, and to do this, check more runstop points in your strings. And end blocked stuff in sweep, please!
  4. F....Fukua? Fukua! I like you, a lot, I said I wouldn't make you anchor, but I have to because I really love Parasoul and DHCs to Cerebella. Don't tell anyone I secretly run three points and don't actually have an anchor. I need to learn to cancel your armored command grab into supers on reaction and pick the CORRECT super, such as Drill during aerial assault and BFF during ground, I also need to decide when to cancel to super and when to let it ride if it's going to hit anyways. I need to test all of my tech on the whole cast, though some of the basics seem to carry over fine. Continue to practice picking up off stray fireball hits, if they hit on the ground, learn to run in and do a fast normal ON THE GROUND. However, if they counter a hit in the air (LDart counters another Fukua doing jHK for example) please continue picking up off that with jHK, but don't do the next fireball, it's stylish/cool but it can whiff at certain spacing, the damage is negligible, and it just fucks your scaling. Go straight into cMP if possible, jHK should put you at point blank for an opener, and that means your optimal string should be available, this will also keep the scaling of your original combo by skipping the light. You need to learn to do this with everyone, actually! (Disregarding optimal starters if you can land one, but I'm not sure jHK jHP is a good idea actually!)
  5. Double and Squigly are my other official backburner characters, but moreso than Peacock. And Squigly moreso than Double, since I've neglected her so. Valentine, Filia, Fortune, and Painwheel are permanently out the window for me, as far as I can tell. Val is cool but she's not for me, can't Filia, can't Fortune, can't Painwheel. BB... I'm still not ready to try him again. I will definitely considering Eliza, Beowulf, and Robo when they come out. I've come to a point where my goal is still roster mastery, but perhaps with a few exceptions. What I mean is that I have trouble making a permanent team, and I'm going to reform one every few months until everyone is out, and in the end, I'll probably have two teams, I think, officially, 100%. An alpha team and a beta team. I'd like my beta team to have Beowulf on it if I like I'm because LOL WAIFU also maybe Eliza. I'm curious about Robo Fortune simply because I was a Fortune main and I don't like her anymore (not because nerfs) and so I'm ready to see metal cat.
the baesics
  1. React to cLK bHK!!! I can't lose any more of my soul to eating this thing.
  2. Just freakin' hold forward/upback against Valentine at this point, really. Oh, and mash throw. Same for Parasoul mirror.
  3. Find upback. And downback. And back. You use octogate, the fuck man? Really? C'mon.
  4. Stop getting nervous and flinching, wanna know what's worse than eating cLK bHK? Eating both hits of it. (Note: THAT DOESN'T COMBO, FOR THE UNINFORMED. Maybe after OTG.)
  5. Don't do TK QCB moves trying to upback and then do a normal! Great tear tosses, man. Just great.
  6. I sware stop mashing the wrong supers and moves. Bikes != Sniper, Drill != BFF. PLS.
  7. You're learning to bait! You learned it's really situational. You learned you can't use some resets on some characters almost period bar making them afraid so they eat certain things. You've learned neutral is hard because of this. fLP Squigly? Eat grave! jHK restand, jbLK Valentine? She backdashes! Throw? Counterpokes! Bait? Pressure gone! Time to learn when you should flip a coin, when you should pay attention, and to weigh your opponents options as well as yours. It's going to get rough. fLP Cerebella and eat Dynamo/360, wait block and eat a command grab/360, upback and block and eat cLK/Excellabella, etc, pick your poison, watch your opponent, DON'T AUTOPILOT!!
  8. DON'T FUCKING AUTOPILOT
  9. DON'T
  10. Don't be salty when you win, it's rude and insulting to your opponent, who is usually your friend, and you love your friends, and it's good you tell them that, but it still hurts when you do fairly well or better in a set and go IM SO BAD AT THIS GAME WAH WEHW AHW WEHA WAH WAH
  11. Also when did you care what other people think, go back to Dan tactics, it's GOOD if they think you're bad and when/if you decide to shine and you're actually good, people will know and then fuck the haters (fuck them anyways) also it still won't matter, remember to have fun, that's why you're playin a damn vidya game genius.
  12. Put some waifus on your stream and remember to turn on the music ID fetching program thing. Also advertise it more and figure out how you get in the Skullheart streaming tab unless that's automatic then don't figure it out numb nuts. My dad told me this is the coolest mall in New Meridian, you think you know more than my dad? Don't fucking come then.

Do something!
Now, I'm not sure if I understand the problem here correctly, but I'll just say what I do. I have one of my macros as LP+MP+HP, meaning that no matter if I'm loading MP or HP item drop, I always have the option to macro-dash open.

I remember this short Big Band vs Big Band 1v1 set I had with a guy I know. I lost but had that nice "getting there, doin' good kid, doin' good" sensation out of it. Just when I was about to congratulate him, he expressed sadness at how bad he is with Big Band. I'd be proud of his cockiness were it a taunt, but I knew him enough to know that yes, dropping a combo here and there concerned him enough to not realize/not care about the win.

Point being, rejoice about the big and small wins + don't let smaller failures cloud the general picture. There might also be a moral about caring about your opponent's feelings there, but I can't be publicly seen showing and encouraging empathy.

You need to add your channel here. Once that's done, it will display on the main page's stream tab whenever you're live and have "playing: Skullgirls" set on the channel. The stream tab updates every several minutes, so don't worry that you're not on the tab yet if you just started streaming a moment ago.

This is what I intend to do, right now I'm stick dashing, which I'm bad at, but I accept is a skill I need to know regardless of how I feel about it.

Semi-related reminder to myself, remember your alt. assist call button combinations! (Such as LK HP.) This came in handy the other day and I forget why.

I lost some sets today. I'm actually crying right now because I did ok during the last set I played, which was vs @Choose Goose but I fell apart physical, my hands became weak, I started shaking, and now I'm so upset about falling apart that I'm crying. I fall apart during everything I do in life and Skullgirls is no exception. I need to go just finish crying so I can finally feel better and at least be happy I have that. I'm not cut out for real life and I'm not cut out for competitive video games..

I was getting mad about myself on the "beat marie" thread....then I read this...now I finally understand that it seems pretty ok to create a thread in order to whine around about yourself.
These forums are getting more and more constructive :/
Put yourself together dude, assume your fraudulous way of life and deal with the fact it doesn't always go your way

I know the feel of shaking and stuff. I used to have a lot when I played LoL a while ago, but I just used to take long breaths, drink some water, chill out a bit, wash your face and you'll be okay. Everything is psychological and you can learn how to control your reactions to those stuff.

Never ever try to do lab work while online on Steam, you will not get it done.

Start refusing to fight some people so you have time to fight other people. (Sorry, some people.)

Para/Bella/Band now because I can. I like it.

Lots of WIP here.
