I havent seen i thread of the great series know as Soul Calibur yet, so i decided to start one.
Soul Calibur II is my favorite fighting game ever made besides MK Trilogy. The fantasy mideval art style lured me in as a child and kept me around with the series since. Kilik was such and amazing character to me because i have always found staff weilders to be more badass and unqiue than the common swordsman. Ivy was another character i fell in love with because of her whip sword and stong personality.
Time went on and SCIII and SCIV came out eventually SCV. III and IV were great as well, but V i have so mixed feelings for.
Gameplay wise, its very solid and the graphics are amazing, but what made me lose interest in the game was the roster of new faces. Viola was in instant main for me, She beautiful, lovely outfit, very unique weapongs style, mysterious personality. Besides her, i'm not too thrilled on the new characters i.e. Xiba, Patrokolos, Phyrra, ZWEI etc.
Its hard to tell where the future of the SC series will go, but i will definitely support it in any way i can.

Anyways, discuss Soul Calibur.

I only played 3 and 5. SC3 is an instant classic in my opinion. It was the first fighting game I played where the characters used actual weapons to fight. It was new to me, but damn enjoyable. There was a nice selection of characters to choose from, some very pretty stages, and nice music that fit with the era the game took place in. One thing I loved about the game was the character creation. It was such a neat idea. Creating your own character and customizing them how you saw fit. Even better, you could unlock and buy more weapons and accessories, and even buy new classes. To put it simply, I love SC3.

Soul Calibur 5 though...it's sort of okay. I wasn't as impressed with it honestly. One big reason is the new roster of characters. The characters from the previous games were cool as usual, but the new characters just bored me. I didn't unlock anyone yet, so I don't know who else there is. Oh yeah, that reminds me. I usually like to set the rounds to 1 so that I can get through the story mode faster. I didn't see any option to change that anywhere. Really disappointing for me because having to win three rounds every fight bores me quickly. I wish I could say more, but the game just didn't hold my attention.

I havent completed the series yet , have experinced the first version game play. Would love to complete the series till I get the pre ordered acheter witcher 3 . Would try the game experience before I get the game Witcher 3 .
