To begin...

The Royal Rumble is this weekend, Daniel Bryan is back in action but Reigns, Ambrose, and maybe even Ziggler are looking to give him a run for his money this Sunday. Any predictions?

Haven't watched any WWE in years, but I know there was a recent story about how Triple H [who I believe is currently a heel now] ended up making a kid cry, but broke character to reassure the kid. Apparently he invited the kid backstage later for some free merch.

I'm really hoping for Ryback, Reigns, Ziggler, and Bryan to be strong in the rumble. Hoping for them to be the final four.

Been a good while since I saw some action from WWE. Regardless, there something about slams, the ring, and the crowd that gets me all hyped up.

Ya they built up quite a few wrestlers over the last couple of months, I feel like Bryan winning is almost too obvious and we're gonna get swerved with someone fresh.

Thought you might wanna be here

I don't know anything about the sport or it's players, but I like watching people get salty so wrestling is pretty cool to me I guess

Disappointed Rowan didn't get into Rumble, but everyone else I like did. Huzzah.

I think deep down WWE knows that Reigns isnt ready yet.
But I'm also worried I think they don't care at all.

If Regins wins, I guarantee the Philly crowd will give him the Batista treatment.

Yeah.. Idk who's writing his promos because they've been really bad lately. Rumor also is the rock is in philly, so something interesting might happen.

Soo... does TNA even exist anymore?

The consensus on reddit was Vince himself. I'd get hype if the Rock came out of nowhere and eliminated Rusev or something, but if here's there at all I think he'd be announcing hosting Wrestlemania.

Soo... does TNA even exist anymore?

TNA...exists. They got bumped from Spike after they found out Russo was still writing for them and probabaly bad ratings, moved to Destination America. Doesn't look great for them, but they did re-sign Angle recently.

Wasn't Reigns also booed when it was just him and Batista in last year's Royal Rumble?

My entire knowledge of the WWE comes from Two Best Friends Play's Rustlemania event. I like watching a match once in a while on Youtube, but I wouldn't know where to begin watching wrestling.

He was technically a heel then, and I think the issue there was more of he wasn't Daniel Bryan. Now I think he has enough casual fans as a face that he'll probably get a net positive reaction if he wins. Probably a Cena like reaction.

If you want to, the easiest way to get into wrestling is just to start watching, every episode has alot of recaps and character defining moments. Smackdown's only two hours and is easier to watch than Raw if you're starting, and apparently you can stream it now for free.

What's the difference between Smackdown and Raw?

What's the difference between Smackdown and Raw?

Raw is the main show and is 3 hours long and shown live Monday on USA, whereas Smackdown is the 2 hour 'B-show' recorded on Tuesdays and broadcasted Thursday on SyFy.

Generally, the same wrestlers are on Smackdown and Raw and they follow the same plot lines. Raw as the main show has most of the plot development and 'big things' occur, like Raw this Monday was mostly about the championship match for this Sunday, where as Smackdown this week was all about 3 returning wrestlers qualifying for the Royal Rumble. Actual wrestling wise, they're the same.

There's 2 smaller shows, Main Event and Superstars, that you can mainly only get through there subscription network and are just steps below Smackdown, shorter and less plot, as well as NXT, their developmental league.

Don't worry, you don't have to watch the full 6 hours of wrestling they put out every week to enjoy it.

Pay-Per-Views are once a month, and you can stream them from the WWE Network as well as their entire back catalog of them for 10 bucks a month. Usually they're higher quality championship and feud ending matches as well as big gimmick matches like they Royal Rumble, Table Ladders and Chairs, etc.

Rumor is that Vinny Mac himself is writing Regins' promos. Can you tell that Mr McMahon is out of touch?

Sorry if I'm being a slowpoke, but I read somewhere that a lot of people believe he's gonna be the next face of WWE. Winning Royal Rumble might achieve that. Don't get me wrong; I like Cena and respect him, but I think he needs to step out of the spotlight for a bit.

I'm also a fan of The Big Show

Someone should edit those gifs to use the Skullgirls Blockbuster effects.

Yup, the WWE and alot of fans believe that (:PUN:) Reigns is the next Cena which is why he's been booked the way he is. The reason why he gets some snark is from his repetitive matches and bad promos that just kind of feel forced. I think even the smarkiest of smarks (myself included) would like to see Reigns succeed with that X-Factor of his and get to the top, which headlining Mania would certainly do, but just not at his current level where there's so many other guys who could be where he is.

As for Cena, yeah many people are in the same boat. Cena gets way more flak then he deserves, but only because he's been alone at the top for a decade.

Damn. How bad does it gotta be that you've got THE ROCK coming out to put you over and you still get booed?

WWE desperate for a new babyface and it backfired horribly. Haha.

They should have let Bryan or Ziggler win this year.
Cena should have pinned Lesnar, than been cashed in on by Rollins.

I'd love Rollins vs Bryan or Ziggler at WM

#CancelWWENetwork is trending worldwide. Seriously, it actually is. That's how bad they screwed up this Rumble.

We care about this... why?

I was under the impression that it was already established that 99% of wrestling fans are a bunch of whiners who aren't satisfied by anything short of wrestlers bleeding all over the ring. Of course they're gonna bitch at this; they bitch about everything.

Rather have Reigns win that the likes of Big Show or, god forbid, Rusev. At least there's a good chance of him stomping fucking Lesnar.

Welp...finally got to finish watching the Rumble. I thought it'd be impossible, but they topped the 2014 Rumble.

Let's start with some positivity.

This happened, title match amazing.
Bray Wyatt had a good showing.
Ryder returns, and hit the Broski Boot!
DDP outta nowhere!

And now the rest...

So...a distraction finish...in the main event...of a pay per view...that everyone booed. I felt like there was so many favorites who got 5 seconds to shine and then just disappeared...Bryan, Ziggler, Ambrose, Ryback, even Mizdow. It just felt all over the place. Also, the Rock returns, and doesn't say a single word? :(

But...they did manage to pull a complete 360 last year due to crowd reaction, and, uh, there's been some reaction. With no Raw monday we're gonna have to wait and see if they keep going full speed ahead.

And just maybe, there's an ace in the hole...Axel was never eliminated. Next week on Raw, The Royal Rumble Do-Over.

I gotta say, watching the interviews on RAW, they’re handling the backlash really well from a promo perspective. And the whole #CancelWWENetwork died as quickly as it started (as expected), considering it’s a ’cancel at any time’ subscription. Wonder how many people cancelled for the screencap and then immediately resubbed? Whiners, indeed. It’s gonna kill the stock, but they’ll recover and hopefully learn from this booking mistake. Reigns himself even acknowledged people were pants-shittingly mad on RAW, but unlike Batista, he didn’t be snarky about it and turn on them. I think Reigns can win them over in time, especially if Seth Rollins continues getting monster heat and perhaps cashes in on Lesnar before mania (or on Reigns at mania). However, the months lost to the hernia surgery are gonna cost him in the long run. He’s just not ready yet. He’s got the makings of super-stardom, but I’m worried that Vince forcing the Wrestlemania main event on people or molding Reigns into Cena 2.0 will turn the entire fanbase against him.

I mark out pretty hard for Reigns, and people genuinely like this guy. Hearing the audience boo him from the building because was painful, but let’s be honest: as long as it wasn't Bryan winning, they were gonna be boos. And Bryan vs. Lesnar is just asking for Bryan to get taken out of action again.

I was sad, but okay with Bryan only lasting 10 minutes, considering his neck injury. I couldn’t help but cringe as he took dives, so taking on Suplex Man wouldn’t have sat well with me. I even laughed when his elimination was juxtaposed with the "Shattered Dreams Productions" of Goldust’s titantron.

I didn’t take Bray’s loss too hard, as he looked really good up there, and I felt he took his elimination like a martyred cult leader. The interactions with the rest of the Family were interesting, though. And the Lunatic Fridge would’ve been a good choice, storyline wise.

What really rustled me, was Ziggler getting tossed out like garbage. He was beasting it with those super kicks, and they already had him carry the whole "Team Cena vs The Authority" match, so he’d be a good fit for the Beast.

It was terrible booking all around. If it was, say, Bryan, Ambrose, Bray/Ziggler, and Roman Reigns in the final four, I think the audience would’ve taken it a lot better. It was too much heels vs Roman Reigns at the end, trying to force people to cheer for the lone warrior of WWE’s choosing after the fan favorites were already booted out, having done nothing. At any rate, I don't care who won, I just want someone to cut Lesnar down to size.

I feel like..I should briefly lift my self imposed skullheart exile to mention that there are other companies aside from wwe that are wonderful, unique, and fit to a variety of tastes. A wrestling thread does not need to devolve into the constant of complaining online and tuning in again on monday night following wwe yet again not living up to expectation. Instead of writing an essay...you could just watch pwg, lucha underground, roh, chikara, or new japan (or Nxt which is a wwe product that has fin balor).

Or, just not take things so seriously..I mean it is dudes in types grappling one another for your amusement...which is silly in of itself when you think about it. I mean it's a wrestling thread...not a sports entertainment thread.

If you can find it in the thread archive's section the "beowulf like's wrestling let's watch wrestling thread" has a huge repository of good matches throughout history, as well as write ups on various international stars, from various companies (some I mentioned in my first paragraph). Even though it's been locked away.

New Japan's new beginnings is next month. Wk9 was last month it was easily the best wrestling pay-per-view in a few years (and they have an english commentary option).

Santino is now ring-retired, and only shows up barely.
Funkasaurus is now on TNA under a different packaging.
Big Show is part of the authority and still as stale as ever.

Absolutely. There's plenty of alternatives out there if you look hard enough, and this gets brought up when WWE makes a real mess of them self. I've been wanting to watch Underground for a while especially since Del Rio arrived.

Like any entertainment there's upswing and downswing *coughSFxTcough* that you gotta endure, and hopefully have them learn from. The 2014 Rumble directly led to Brian winning the title. And the WWE has had downswing measurable in years at times, so there why I'm not sharpening my pitchfork just after one bad main event.

@SanoBaron

Well, about a year ago the Funkasaurus' broke up and pretty much immediately Brodus was released, Tensai does behind the scenes now. Santino announced his retirement a while ago at a non televised show due to cumulative injuries, but he returned recently in a non wrestling capacity. Big Show is currently corporate heel and interferes in matches mainly.

Honestly I got the feeling people wouldn't be booing as hard if someone like Ziggler or Ambrose won. Sure it wouldn't have completely removed the blow from Bryan losing, but at that point everyone had accepted it and were just hoping someone that the WWE wasn't pushing to the moon and back as Cena 2.0 would win. Big Show and Kane tossing everyone else out like nothing is what really set everyone off since they knew ROMANWINSLOL was coming.

At least this seems to be resulting in DBry vs. Ziggler for Wrestlemania. That'll be a match for the ages.

Don't watch the Royal Rumble, for starters. Except maybe the Triple Threat championship match, but that was a diamond in a pile of crap.
