Them's Fightin' Herds

Not sure if joke or not. <. <

Congrats!
I'm lookin forward to playing!

People are so obsessed with giving all the characters arbitrary accents that Arizona might be the only true 'Merican left.
Just wait

the first time you hear her in the character select screen,

She'll say

Gud effort, don'tcha know, eh?

Glad this got funded. I hope they can somehow manage to get to the stretch goal. The goat sounds promising and I'd like another character to play. As-is, only two characters really look interesting for me to use.

Evening gents. I just made a topic over in the "Miscellaneous Skullgirls Discussion" section and, to be honest, I sorta' forgot this topic already existed, but if ya'll wouldn't mind I'd appreciate some feedback to see if you guys like the ideas I've proposed. I imagine there's a lot of people in this topic who are better than I am, but I'm actually not too shabby (and wouldn't mind playing ya'll at all), so it seemed like it was worthwhile to get it posted.

If you folks are big on the idea, I'd love some support...we could maybe get an organizational structure going that's more than just one guy. I'm really, really big into trying to get a lot of these new people going into fighters, and I'll do what I can to make it happen. I know a lot of you have posted or linked to Skullgirls resources or have tutorial videos of your own, and all that experience would be awesome in trying to turn the group into something bigger.

Don't mind the title I gave myself, by the way...I wanted to put more of a joke in there about how I'm not really the first dude considering Mane6 and everyone at Xanadu, but I hit a character limit. I'll probably change it. Please believe me when I say I'm not trying to be any sort of egomaniac in the least. ^_^;;

GOAT FUNDED!

We have the goat person, with 7 more hours of the crowdfunding to go. Nice, cool, sweet, positive adjectives.

2 am local time, welp. Time to die and see how high we made it after I wake up. Looking forward to it!

Still, we need more. There's always a few people who donate and withdraw their pledge, or screw up their payment, or just don't have the money for various reasons.

Screwing up a payment isn't really possible on IGG though because the money is already taken when you pledge. That only happens on Kickstarter.

>everyone counting to baa

Less then 6k for the Goat story/stage/music benchmark with 5-6 hours left as of this post. They should list a few of the "and beyond stretch goal" specific numbers while the last hurrah momentum is still going especially before that last listed stretch goal is reached.

I was going to say it would be a bit unrealistic to expect a whole other stretch goal even with the pace we're going at but only 2k left to story mode.

I haven't checked it in about 24 hours and out of nowhere a new character and about 1k away from his/her story? Fucking crazy.

Huh, I didnt realize that.
That said, pledge pulling is still a thing. I've heard enough stories of pricks pledging hundreds or thousands, just to pull out.

For reference the SG IGG had at somewhere between several hundred to around 1k territory in pulled pledges [not counting the TF2 hat hunter refunds that happened early] after the dust settled. That is an insignificant amount of money in the big picture. IGG tends to have donations that are more likely to be legitimate compared to KS since it actually requires the backer to put down money immediately.

We... actually crossed into "the beyond"... I honestly didn't think it was possible!

Congrats @Jay Wright and the whole team. You guys crushed it.

So in the interest of unifying a large community around this game when it's done, would you guys consider making the Goat character and the Goat story mode/stage/music separate DLC items for the non-backers?

A character by themselves being like $2.50 or something like that would make it affordable for many people to get into while the extra bells and whistles of the story and all the work that goes into that is something people can also get if they are interested in it.

This has been a lovely campaign and a real pleasure to follow. Congratulations guys. :)

Well, yeah, it can still be a thing. But considering you have to front the money first I would tend to think it would deter all but the most fiscal of trolls to want to stir some shit.

I considered all of the pulled funds and dont remember the exact numbers for what was due to hat refunds, so you may very well be correct.

Fair enough, though I expect some trolls to have the funds. That said, the ones that pull funds are few and far between so I suppose the odds are in Mane6's favor.

In any case I wish them luck.

Oh to be both wealthy and an asshole...

AND BEYOND...
-Additional characters
-Additonal stages
-Improved lobby
-Consoles and more

I'm curious how far does $27,086 reach into the beyond. Characters are the most expensive, so the other three seem more likely.

Hoping for:
-Additonal stages
-Improved lobby
Especially the latter, whatever improvement it may be. Consoles are cool but eh. We can live without them.

No Spooder Goat

Oh well.
What are you talking about? WE GOT GOAT AND HER STORY MODE+STAGE! WE ACTUALLY DID IT!

Nah I wanted Spooder Goat. That is what I really wanted.

But regular old goat will have to do...

Doubt it will go to another character or even console ports.

60k more was asked for Goat
50k more was asked for mac/linux port

I can see it realistically going to more stages or improved lobbies

Only 14k was asked for Goat stage/s, more music, and story for example

I'm fine with it being just a pillow of backup money in case anything unexpected comes up (as we've seen happen multiple times in SG's development history).
If all goes fine though, sure, some more content in the stage/music/lobby department sounds neat.

A hundred times this. If it seems like they can deliver more, just like LabZero found out they could, then I'm sure they will. Anyone thinking about consoles isn't thinking clearly. Console licensing is expensive as hell. They might be able to come to consoles AFTER the game is made, if it starts selling well enough. We'll see just how powerful the draw is outside of the backers who funded it.

In hindsight, they could have at least listed what $$$ amount is needed for console ports [rather then a vague distant goal] so it's not just PC gamers throwing them money. The donations noticeably stopped spiking/slowed down a bit when there was no more target goal benchmarks.

On the stream that went on in the last hours of the Indiegogo, they mentioned that it's really hard to estimate how much money is needed for a console port at this stage of a game's development, and therefore consider promises of console ports for games that are being crowdfunded not a very honest attention grabber.

Though they would love to provide console ports at some point if they manage to, they very much wanted to avoid a situation where they say "it will happen if we gather x amount of $$$", only to way later down the line be potentially forced to spread their arms and go "oh well, turns out it was way too little. No hard feelings, right?"

I'd like to see zero console ports. At least for the foreseeable future. The PC is legitimately poised to become the go-to FG system. PC exclusives only help further that goal. With xPlatform realistically on the horizon (PC players will have more to say after this weekend, no doubt), and major games on or moving to the PC (SFV, KI, T7, MKX, BBCPE, KOF, SG), it is getting more and more difficult to justify paying 700 dollars simply to further split up the community. Add to that, most people have a PC now for reasons other than games (school, work, the freaking internet)... fiscally it starts to make sense as well.

Anyway, I'll take my PC Master Race hat off, but I really hope they don't go too far down the rabbit hole splitting up the community which is likely going to be relatively small anyway.

The only thing I'll point out is that just because most people have computers for the reasons you state doesn't mean they're all capable of playing this generation of games.

Thankfully, the Z engine's been quoted to "run on a toaster." For all your breakfast fighting needs!

Yeah, take SG for example, i would preffer to find people on the xbox live, than playing on my pc version, without 3d backgrounds. :/

But pcs are really the most universal thing right now for fighters.
