There's no Soul Calibur thread? I've got to fix that.

I make bad decisions. I'll learn eventually.

Title. Who do you guys main in SCV/IV, and why? When did you start playing?

I'll start. I main Ezio in SCV, and back in IV I played Cervantes. I play as Ezio because of his ridiculous number of counters (four, last I checked) and his incredible ability to interrupt an opponent. All it takes is one 6B~BE and they're already far away from you, at which point you can make them respect the crossbow.

I'm sorry if this is a bad thread I just don't see Soul Calibur anywhere and I think it needs love

Psh, SCIII and SCII are the best in the series, get with the program :3
SCV didn't have Zasalamel, Talim, or Yung Seong and the Kilik wannabe wasn't that cool, so I main that one lady with the crystal ball cause weird weapons...Actually, the weapons in SCV were pretty weird overall, weren't they? Either way, I feel the older games were better with more modes and higher quality gameplay.

SG is the first fighting game that I really got into and tried to play well, but truth be told, SC was always a favorite of mine, and I even got ok-ish at SCV. My wife made fun of me for dressing up all my little dollies in create-a-character, lol. I made every version of Taki from SE to SCIV, though, because Natsu is lame as fuck.

I eagerly await SCVI.

Yeah, hopefully SCVI, which they seem to be hinting at the existence of, won't be marred by the issues of SCV (bland new characters replacing the fleshed out ones we've grown to know, lack of modes, lack of story endings for arcade, limiting character creation to just the ingame styles and Devil Jin, etc.) I wish they'd bring back create-a-character specific styles and game modes. Those were fun D:

I mained Mitsurugi in 4 but didnt really care for that game as a whole. I mostly played around with character creation and took my horrid creations online in that game.
SC2 will always be the best. No not just because of Link though that is one of the reasons. The gameplay was amazingly responsive and fluid, there were so many weapons and character unlocks,(even if alot of the characters were moveset clones or re-skins of past characters) the graphics were jaw dropping and the single player mode was incredibly fun and long lasting for a fighting game.
I really didn't like 3 though I think thats more a matter of opinion and the series has become a joke since 4.

Yo, soul calibur 2 and 5 are my jams.
Anyone wanna play on PSN hook me up.
I main Siegfried, Taki/Natsu, Raphael, and others.
I don't have much in terms of mains.

I remember when I played Soulcalibur V online a lot, and made some good friends.
Ah, back when I didn't know how to play fighters.

But when I was really little, I remember fiddling about with Soulcalibur II, and all I remember was it was good.

A lot of ppl don't really like SCIII from what I hear, and I'm just confused on htat. It still had the long running Story Campaign, heck, it had even more features to play around with! It introduced Zasalamel! Though, I'll fully admit the Story was harder than necessary and endings with QTEs was BS...and Night Terror and Abyss are both crap....b-but I just love this game D:

AAAGH, THE SUDDEN ALERT SPAM. SAVE MY NOTIFICATIONS (;_;)

Happy to see this thread got rolling. I started as a button-mashy scrub in SCII (with Spawn, I think), but now I'm entering fighting game tournaments.

Heads-up: If you want to work on your footsies in this game, go try SC. After figuring that out, removing a dimension makes spacial management so much easier.

It was very content rich, but it was probably the worst-balanced SC made, so I imagine that's where the hate comes from. I never played against any humans in SCIII, honestly, so I remember it fondly. I was in air force tech school at the time and we were all playing Halo 2 for most of versus sessions, no time for fighters.

I am the only person on the internet who probably loves Necrid.
Especially his orange alt.

I remember my cousins play SC2 on GameCube. I have SC5.

SCII - Mains- Xianghua, Heihachi (played Link alot too but not a main)
SCIII - Mains- Xianghua - Her black and whit outfit was awesome in this. Also mained the SAGE create a soul custom. They need to bring those back.
SCIV - Mains- Xianghua, Taki. I didn't play this one that much.
SCV - Mains- Viola, Leixia. I wanted to be good with ZWEI but it didn't happen.

I've played all the Soul Calibur games with my siblings, cousin, and non 2D fighting game playing friends casually. It was the only fighting game they would play with me since I was miles above them in skill at 2D fighters but none of us had any idea how to play Soul Calibur well so we were all pretty evenly matched.

I played Xianghua in all of them, and Setsuka in 3 and 4. I didn't play 5 much, I think I played alpha patroklos or whoever they put in instead of Setsuka and the clone of Xianghua (her daughter i think?).

I really liked Setsuka, if I pick up any Soul Calibur game seriously (maybe 6 if/when it comes out?) I'd definitely want to main her. Her speed and knockdowns let me play my bait and punish in to okizeme (as much as you can in SC) style that I use in 2D fighters
