As much as i love being a pad warrior, i used to use a stick when i was playing 3rd strike back in the day with my cousins. and thanks to a some people at salty, i got motivated to give stick one more try. so any recommendations from you guys?

I just bought a WWE All Stars stick about a month ago. I'm liking it, but I need to try the Square Gate. Octagon is nice, but it feels really weird.

What sort of fight stick did you use for Third Strike?

Seconded. I have an Octo-Gate in mine, and replaced the stock buttons and ball top with Sanwa parts.... I love my black mesh top :3

(Also helps that it's multi-platform, so you don't have to buy two separate sticks for console and PC)

wow.... i actually found it on Google images. anyway it wasnt mine, it was my cousin's, he had 2 sticks, but i dont remember the one he used, but we played on PS2 and this one was the one i used.

everyone was using these at salty, and i borrowed i think Nekro's (not sure), and felt solid and fluid. granted it was a little awkward, but i felt more comfortable with it.

The WWE All Stars stick is great for modding. You pay forty bucks for the stick, then drop another forty for replacement buttons and joystick when you feel you need them (you might not even need to replace the buttons). I outfitted mine with Sanwa parts and it feels great. Changing the parts out was really easy, too.

Edit: The buttons and joystick I used for my stick are the same ones that are in the Qanba Q4 except I spent about half as much. My stick doesn't look nearly as cool, though.

??? Are you sure we have the same stick, since my stock parts were/are Sanwa

also what are Sanwa buttons like?

They feel the same as the buttons on arcade cabinets.

I totally forgot the stock parts were Sanwa, too; whoops.

I didn't do any of the modding work myself; the stick and the mod work were gifts a few years back. Stock top and buttons were replaced with a black mesh top and translucent smoke buttons. There should be a picture of it in the "Show your stick" thread.

well that will help a crapton. as much i am going to miss using DS3, i think that this is the best if im going to evo.

J-Arcade cabinets, specifically. American buttons feel, and look, different.

i like the bat tops a lot than ball tops( they fit more comfortable in my hands) but im still split between the buttons. concave is what im use to, i like the spacing but the buttons always felt fragile to me, convex buttons feel a lot better, but it's too compact for my tastes. (i playing the pied piper here basically)

Do the "Colossi way". I'm tired of not being able to perform moves like Napalm Shot or Egret Call/Dive/Charge on the keyboard, so I started to learn again how to play the game. I didn't gave up on the keyboard, I'm still using half of it, and half of a Dualshock controller.

I basically use the punches and kicks on the keyboard (IOP for punches, KLÇ for kicks) and the macros and directional on the Dualshock.

It's weird as fuck and i'm still trying to land basic combos on the training mode, but it feels like it's gonna be way more versatile than only the keyboard once I master it.

that is a fucking odd way to play, but mad respect for thinking outside the box.

Feels weird when doing ADCs because it's easier to double tap front on the keyboard, but I put double P on the macros to help.

these sticks are good and all, but im on a budget, i have money to go to evo and get a room,(about 500$ and counting , how the fuck does a 16 year old have that much? recycle, recycle, recycle,) so i cant be spending too much.... :s

If you want a stick with high-quality parts WITHOUT breaking the bank, invest in a Qanba Q1. They're lightweight, cheap, and will still run you under the price line for most high-end sticks AFTER modding. Seriously, replace the stock buttons; I've been told they're crap.

Well, again, the WWE All Star Brawl Stick is $40. You can change out the joystick for another $20 once you outgrow it and leave the stock buttons for a really nice $60 stick (adding new buttons for an extra $20 if you really don't like the stock parts). If you're scared the of Dwayne Johnson's stone cold stare, you can even get new art printed out at Kinko's for like $5. It's actually a good beginner stick and I think it'd be silly to not consider it.

is it PC compatible?

If it's a 360 stick, yes. If it's PS3, yes, but you'd need to manually download the drivers for it, most likely.

well i have the drivers for DS3 installed on my PC. will that work?

Yes. You just need to install a program called x360ce and it works perfectly fine. I've been using it on PC since I bought the stick.

You should be just fine, then.

Funny, I had installed the drivers just by letting Windows do it's thing for once.

But yeah, as a side note I had extreme difficulty removing the Square Gate on my WWE Brawl Stick. I don't know if you will, too, but there's something to keep in mind. Personally, I love the weight, but the buttons just feel too sensitive.

Is there a guide on how to mod sticks? Can someone post a vid? I cant really learn from reading, I have to see someone actually do it.

The stick in this video is the same as the WWE stick. You just need a phillips screwdriver.
