Squigly Ms. Fortune Painwheel
I play on steam with a usb playstation controller with the analog stick. However, I don't think the controller is a problem, but maybe it is.

Whenever I play, I try over and over again to input simple commands, but they don't seem to want to work. For example, I'll press forward jump and end up just walking forward, or do a quarter circle special but then end up in a crouch jab. And the crazy z inputs, I can't even begin to do that in the timing to defend against airborne characters. And that 360 input.

i.e.
-Can't jump as anyone, or atleast the first time I press the button, let alone forward jump.
-Things like air dash I can't do in the time of the jump, especially after I spend so much time jumping.
-Try to do Squigly Liver Mortis, end up on the floor with a candle, try to extend the turn and end up jumping.

Do you guys have any tips, tricks, or even methods of practicing getting these inputs to work and work consistently?
-Jumps, forward jumps, and air dash
-Quarter circle inputs
-Forward, down, diagonal. Z input

the best method would be to keep practicing them. It took me about a month just to learn how to do charge moves consistently, and that was only for back>forward ones, down>up was still an issue. just don't get too upset and stay patient, it'll come to you soon

It takes a little practice, start slow.

Try slowly making the inputs over and over on the controller without looking at the character and learn the motions.

One thing to check would be whether your controller is inputting the correct commands, just to make sure that it's not a hardware issue.

Other than that, it's just a matter of getting your hands to learn where to move/etc. and build the muscle memory to the point that your hands are able to input what your mind intends on inputting. Another option would be to see if using the Directional Pad is more comfortable for you. It may be, it may not be; it's a personal preference type of thing. For me, when I play on pad, I actually tend to switch between the analog stick and DPAD (even during games) on my Dualshock 4.

Neutral jumping is just moving the analog stick straight up.

Forward jumping can feel a little awkward at first on analog stick because there isn't a very clear-cut way for your hands to receive feedback that the analog stick is in the correct up-forward position. This is just something you have to practice until you're able to consistently hit that sweet spot in between up and forward without inputting either up or forward first.

Air-dashing and just dashing in general can be done in two ways:
The traditional method is to tap a forward/backward input twice in rapid succession, and that's just a matter of practicing and experimenting with different ways of moving your hands/fingers so that you can dash with as little effort as possible. It's going to take you a while to get used to inputting a direction, bringing/letting the stick back to the neutral position, then back to the same direction again.
Skullgirls also gives you an easier way to input dashes, just simply hit two punch buttons at the same time. If you are inputting forward or neutral (no direction) with two punch buttons, you will dash forward; but if you input backward and two punch buttons, you will dash backwards. This works both on ground and in air.

QCF/QCB(Quarter-Circle Forward; Quarter-Circle Backward) Inputs
This is going to take some practice until you are able to do it consistently, however, there's a good way to tell where you're going wrong. If you get a crouching normal move instead of the special move, you are not finishing the QCF/QCB motion, and instead hit the button too early before your analog stick could reach the forward/backward position. If you get a standing normal move instead, you are hitting the button too late. In both cases, it's about timing so that you hit the button right as your analog stick fully completes the QCF/QCB motion. Just take it slow, and input down, down-forward, forward + punch. An easy way to abstract this motion so that you don't have to mentally think about doing the entire QCF/QCB motion, is to just focus on moving the analog stick from the down position, to the forward/backward position. The analog stick will naturally want to input the down-foward or down-back direction without you having to necessarily worry about it.

Z-Input (otherwise known as DP or Dragon Punch Input)
This may look more complicated than it really is, but there's a small trick that I use to input it consistently without too much effort. I simply tap foward, like I would be trying to do 1/2 of a dash input, let the stick come back to neutral, then just worry about getting the stick into the down-forward position; but rather than aiming for the exact down-forward input, I aim just a little bit more towards the down side of it than the forward, so that the analog stick will naturally input the down input for me as I move the stick to the down-forward position. This is going to take time but once you get it down, you'll be anti-airing people who love to spam jumping normals with ease.

360 Input
I don't particularly know how this game handles the 360 input, but most other games just look to see if you've inputted all 4 cardinal directions (up, right, down, left). An easy way to abstract this is to input HCB (Half-Circle Back) and then Up + Throw.

I think my problem is a bit related to that. Just I do not have the problem with the analog stick inputs but I just do not manage go for blockbusters. For example I am at the tutorial level with the cancels and I am at the last (?) stage where I have to combo with Filia s.lp->s.lk->s.mk->s.hk->Hairball(Hk)->Gregor Samson. And I just cannot put in the double K to activate Gregor Samson and so I just hairball 10000000 times. Advice pls.

Try changing your macros to K-K and P-P. It worked out well for me.
