Another thread for another fighting game.

After its recent steam release, it looks like VP is starting an indiegogo campaign to add netplay at http://igg.me/at/vanpri . Kinda weird the way they've approached it, though - it seems that they're going to release the DLC for free, and are using the IGG to find developers to work on it?

Would be pretty happy for this. Will probably donate later when I get some cash.

Merged threads.

I'd really like to see netplay for this game, but is really having an IGG campaign that essentially sets up a competition for developers to create the feature, rather than just hiring a team to implement it professionally seems really strange to me.

I cringe when people compare this to skullgirls

They mentioned in the campaign video that they will contract a software firm to create the update if there is a lack of interest from fans. I'm guessing they like the idea of bringing the community into this and rewarding them, instead of contracting a company to help them along.

It's a little strange, but I get it. I'll probably donate to this pretty soon.

Don't. VP is an excellent game.

Unless you mean in comparing the sex appeal in the art styles, because indeed VP is far more reliant on it than Skullgirls has or ever will be.

As Flotilla said, they addressed that. And as someone who's actually played it online, it's just as awful, unstable, unpredictable, and inconvenient as it sounds.

We want to thank everyone for the support of Indiegogo. We didn't reach our goals but developers did step up and made multiplayer breakthroughs to the game. We're going to support them with the contributions we received from Indiegogo.

We're processing the incentive packages so that we can deliver them to our contributors.

Thanks again to everyone for this campaign.
