War changes occasionally, aka The Fallout Thread

First impressions with Fallout 4, it seems to just be a better Fallout 3, but not as much of a better Fallout 3 than New Vegas. The perks system that they're using is really boring, with more or less complete lack of specialization besides the super early game. The new speach wheel is so terribly awful that I don't even know where to start. Basically no impact by the player in the story, no choice of how you're meant to do things, barely any variation on quest completion based on build types. Barely any way to use speech to avoid combat, but that might just be a result of the butchered speech system. Otherwise it's great, but it's pretty clearly inferior to New Vegas from where I'm standing.

It just feels like butchered Fallout 3 and thats no place to be.
15 hours in and im using the same guns and armour that i've been using since the start, its really lame how little customization there is.

The game has some broken partner bugs. Ever since the first big mission in the Minutemen sidequest Preston won't talk or follow me anymore.

So far I'm enjoying the game the customization is good so far in my eyes but I understand where you guys are coming from

Also nick is the fucking coolest partner in the fallout series.

If you mean gun modding or armor modding, yes theres that., but in terms of outfits its just
Leather right leg
Leather Left Leg
Leather Right Arm
Raider Left Arm
Military Helmet
For weapons you're going to see ugly pipe weapons everywhere.

I really want to kill this useless dog that ruins my sneaking as well.

I heard it's a good game, just, disappointing.
Kinda sad, really.
I'll still get it, but it seems like It'd be better to wait for Mods.
I WAS hyped for Steam Workshop. But...
Apparently Fallout 4 will be using some newfangled thing called "Bethesda.net" for mods?

Beth.net is probably for console modding.

On the armor and guns trust me you'll find better ones eventually.

Troy Baker seems to have had an encounter with extraterrestrials.

Well, we got Fallout 4 DLC news.
And it's
Not too good lmao
Basically, the pass is still $30, but if you fail to get it before months end, it swells up to $50.
So, what do you get for fucking a $50 DLC pass?
A cheap DLC that lets you make robot companions. Lame
A cheap DLC that lets you tame people like Pokemon. Lamer
And a SINGLE ACTUAL DLC That's more like Fallout's previous DLC!
HO BOY! THIS IS BAD.

Update: I failed to see that apparently the DLC plan has been extended and there will be more, and it's $50 due to this plan.
Still though, a very weak starting line-up for DLC

To be fair, the Mechanist DLC is pretty good.

Question, is it worth it at all to build up settlements? Are there any real settlements besides more places to put cannons down?

I pretty much ignored it and only used it to build boxes and beds where convenient so I could have a place to heal and store my excess stuff. And build a stairway to jump off of in power armor. Couldn't make it very tall, unfortunately.
