Partially something I asked myself in my training diary but I couldn't quite think of a good answer to because I'm not particularly solid on my mechanics or on fighting games in general.

What are examples of good mixups? What, in your opinion, makes a mixup good?

A good mixup is when you have more options to open them up than they do to defend it. Like Cereblla on the ground vs a meterless Painwheel in corner compared to someone with meterless invincible moves or with meter.

As someone pointed out above, do you have more mixup options than they have defense options? Are you safe if they guess right? Do you have options if they try to mash out?

Most importantly, do you have plenty of opportunity to be incredibly unpredictable?

A good mixup is a non reactable mixup that beats high or low block, is safe on block, can beat multiple options from the opponent, and has no one way to be defended against.

Mixups are my weak point, but I can block most, for some reason. I think that if you know your opponent's mentality, you can block better. That's one reason why SFIV matches always explode in round 2. So I think the best way to do it is to make it up as you go, and do what you wouldn't think is the best move/what you usually do.

Could be wrong, though!
