What's in a Name?? History Behind YOUR Name!

NbgVkrv.png

Yeah, I thought Ermac was always a pretty cool name for a character. After finding out how he came to be I made this my name.

Broseidon Rex: Because my brother and I were trying to fit the word bro into every conversation and because his xbla name had Rex in it, I put it at the end of mine. Turns out, people love saying it and it stuck.

Will Drop for Diamonds: Cerebella, should she ever become a hobo, will gladly drop her combos for Diamonds and/or food

Plan C: Complain About Stacking : Trend I noticed on TF2 that if a team was losing badly, someone on that team would accuse the other team of having all the good players (aka being stacked). Since Plan A is fight as normal, Plan B is fight underwater (Pyro Achievement), I thought Plan C should be to complain about team imbalance. I actually used to have one for each situation (Plan D: Die, Plan E: Kill [Player], Plan F: Fail Harder, Plan P: Come up with New Plan, Plan Z: Complain About Zombies, etc)

Mine just popped into my head one day. I liked it, so I used it. Fascinating, huh?

It all started back in the very clever days of ten years old when I needed to make an account for BF2.
I'm so old.

My name is...my name, because nearly everyone just went by their name back when I started doing things in the FGC, or had a nickname that came directly from their name (s-kill, etc)...except maybe ponder and inkblot and Wiz.
And because I didn't want to go through the hassle of being stuck with a stupid handle forever.

Muro means "wall" in Spanish. But that's not it.

Muro is an aplication on DeviantArt. But that's not it.

Muro is a Japanese DJ. But that's not it.

Muro Town is a location in the Pokemon universe. And that's... not it either.
Looks like you decided that if you're going to have a name-origin story, you might as well make it multiple choice.

I was young and felt that N1nj4_Fr057 was a good handle for my XBox account. Took out the Fr057 and added "code" to signify my entry into the world of Software Engineering. Hooray growing up lol.

Just look at my profile pic. You get the idea.

Originally I prefer to use just X as my name, but forums and other games simply won't accept names with just one letter. I only had the chance to use X as my name when playing Counterstrike way back in the 2000's.

When I was about to start Skullgirls it was going to be my first serious FG. I have a bad sense of humor of constantly insulting myself so I decided why not just be so upfront that I'm a scrub that I put it in my name? Then one of the best win quotes ever, Urien's "Pitiful scum!" along with my favorite number. That is the reason my name is scrubbyscum999, because I am a scrub and I am scum.

so is your avatar scum too or is it just the semen ghost I keep seeing it as

So around the time AOL 8.0 came out, I figured that it was time to stop sharing a screenname with my cousin. I threw a bunch of names out there and sadly, this was the best that I could think of at the time. Being the unimaginative gent that I am, I use it on damn near everything that requires a gamertag because ironically, I can't think of anything cooler.

Doesn't fit me since I'm actually pretty fucking stupid, but whatevvvvvvsssss.

Everyone assumes my name is a Chrono Trigger reference. D:

I used to go by Chrono Commando (the unit in Red Alert 2). Tata is my actual nickname irl, which was another name I used when playing games with people I knew. Chrono Commando sounded extremely generic so I decided to just amalgamate it with Tata. The underscore came from the fact that many PC games at the time don't let you have spaces in your name.

edit: now that I think about it, I think that started from Worms World Party which, iirc, replaced space automatically with underscore and that just stuck since.

Pali is a language, a very complicated one at that. Was given to me because i'm hard to figure out.

As for heavyjugz that one is obvious, i'm well equipped.

I got mine when I was looking into Filipino mythology. Idiyanale is the god/goddess of agriculture and animal husbandry :)

Hrmm. I originally had a different name on everything, but I've been trying to get in the habit of having a consistent handle across different forums/websites, so I went with this one, which is my dA account name. I had an awful habit of a dozen different user names (only some of which I actually remember/keep track of).

As for the origins of this one, "Rei" dates back to a handle I used online a few years ago. I've gotten attached to the name for various reasons, including that it's what my significant other still calls me, so it became a name I identify with as much as my own. The user name itself is just a silly soundalike for Sunny Day.

Then people started calling me Sunny here instead, and I kind of like that as a nickname too, so Sunny it is. ^^; But still Rei to people I'm close to.

I'm a whore for fedoras (MJ and 1930s-40s gangsters inspired) and ninjas (cuz yeah. They're awesome.)
Really I just threw crap together for a steam account that I created just to get portal for free. Didn't think I'd stick with it or use Steam for anything else.

i like elite beat agents, plus my name starts with J
(first one to guess gets a prize)
I'm guessing your name is Jay. Also you didn't say that I had to guess right so what's my prize?

It's my deviantArt name, which I've been using for like six years. I just wanted something distinctive and memorable, and I'm a horror nut so I wanted to associate it with horror in some way.

I got this mental picture of a zombie who was like "Guys, I dunno about this whole brain-eating thing, it's kind of gross when you think about it." And boom, there it was, ReluctantZombie. It's a stupid name, but that's kind of the point.

Watching Toonami as a kid back in the 90's Gundam Wing was my favorite show to watch. So I decided to use the name of my favorite gundam as my psn/gamertag. The rest is history.

A few years ago, I wanted a cool name to use when playing FPS games (particularly UT2004). The name 'Some Person' came to mind since it would fit most any situation.

I slipped into my high school's gamer's club and hopped in for several rounds of UT. When everyone in the club started loudly accusing each other of being 'Some Person', and caused such a ruckus that I began taunting everyone in the game chat, I knew I found a great handle.

It's Castform, one of my favorite pokemon. That's another thing, I am a huge pokemon freak. Castform is also one of those pokemon I feel not a lot of people like, so I put it as my avatar usually. It's small and cute and reacts to weather.

Dude, you're Squigly. It's like freaking destiny.

It was one day I got home from school my friends decided to make new characters on World of Warcraft, i had to think of a name. And you can't use spaces or underscore or numbers or anything, it has to be proper.
I used to use really generic names like Hydra, Vortex, Overmind usually stuff taken from Starcraft or CnC. So my names were always taken.

So I dunno, i thought about it for a long time and tried everything I could think of, to no avail. Then randomly Dagwood popped into my head and I thought it sounded like a cool name for an Undead mage.

It was in my head because I read the comics in the newspaper that day, dagwood's a comic character:

Copied and pasted from another thread:

Elky is a nickname for the Chevy El Camino. I became associated with them after buying a 1980's model. Then, like most people who become "that guy" who owns a unique older car without much dollar value, people offered to unload their own last-gen Caminos on me for bottom dollar.

Before I knew it, I had five of the goddamn things, in various states of decay. I had built an engine for the somewhat decent one myself after reading a book and deciding it was easy enough.

Then, I had enough with fretting over what I was gonna do with all these truckcars and unloaded them all to put the money toward one nice one. Now, I own a pretty nice '65 model and keep it in a garage instead of having five rotting examples sitting in a yard that looked like a fine place to sell a duffel bag of meth.

And the "Dori" part? Maybe some other time.

A long time ago I registered on a Resident Evil forum under the nick "Chimera" (you know, the BOW from the first game/Remake), and some time later I changed it to Caleb because I was playing Blood 2: The Chosen at the time and I thought the main character was awesome.

Since then, my name on the Internet was Caleb. Sometimes I change it to Von Kalev (a friend told me it sounds like a vampire from the XVIII century lol) or Goldman200 (my nick on FFNet)

So, Caleb --> because Blood 2 :PUN:
Von Kalev --> I wanted to do a variant just for fun.
Goldman200 --> based on the villain of The House of the Dead 2

In the summer of 2010 during my lunch breaks while working at Safeway, I spent my spare time drawing a super hero comic starring BOOTMAN. he wasn't super powered but he was a genius with gadgets. He was like Batman, but all his gadgets and utilities were in his boots. And he had different types of boots he used to thwart bad guys.

Anyway it was pure comedy/satire of the classic super hero genre. The secret identity of Bootman was a dopey, kind of stoner-looking dude who was the most unassuming, average, laidback person ever with the most unassuming, unremarkable name ever: Guy Percinn.

Fast forward a couple years and I start using it as an online persona because it's easy to remember.

I really liked playing as Elizabeth in P4A

I like the food, so I use it as a name. I really prefer not to use it cuz I think it's kinda stupid now. The name I prefer to use on the internet is fashionableFidelious, which is the Pesterchum tag my friend gave me for my trollsona. If I can't use it, then its probably because it's too long, so I use this name or timidDaydreamer (fantroll's tag). So yeah, that's my stupid name history.

Opened up a German dictionary, I saw Verstand. But then someone already had the name on PSN so I added the e to it.

I played the original Blood and loved it (along with all of Monolith's other games). I heard that the sequel was really bad, though?

Yes.
I play a loli (or the closest there is) in every game I play.

May
Plat
Fullmoon White Len/Crescent Schoolgirl
Squigs
Shabrys/Naoto
Bulleta
Leissete

It wasn't even on purpose until like..... a year ago.

I just noticed I only cared to practice with those characters.

Granted I do play other characters in all those games.

Mine is a nickname I had in high school. It was given to me in our anime club. I really liked FFVII and the guy running it told me I wasn't as cool as Cloud Strife so I was named Bit after Bit Cloud from Zoids. I just combined the two and bam! I've used it ever since and I always get to use it on whatever site I go to.
