Who wouldn't make it to 'Skullgirls 2?'

Actually Eliza was somehow mentioned in concept art. One noticeable concept art of hers features Delilah, Samson's ex-host.

I mean, we didn't know who Lamia was before Eliza was released so your statement that Eliza doesn't feel like a main story boss can apply to Lamia as well.

I think Lamia's referenced in some of the Double material, too. I vaguely recall some art of her being referred to as the main villain in the game's unlockables. I could be mistaken, but I don't think the Eliza/Delilah (Delilaliza?) pic was released until her DLC came out. I may have to go through the concept art again when I have time.

Just confirmed, Double's Model Sheet:
Double Model Sheet.jpg
"Double is a 'shadow' of the big bad, Lamia. This particular head piece is from REDACTED's distinct crown shape."

I didn't find that Eliza/Delilah pic in the game's Art Gallery, sadly. Thankfully, Google had it.

We didn't know that Lamia is Aeon and Venus's mother, though. Also iirc there were already a bunch of Eliza concept art before the DLC campaign.

Eliza (who's said to be one of Ahad's favourite SGverse characters) has been around for a long while before she was chosen for DLC. While not mentioned directly in-game, her existence was foreshadowed by the Eliza banner seen in the Medici stage. I also recall her "was meant as a boss in a sequel" status was revealed either during or shortly after the character votes. As for art, there is/was some old pre-Indiegogo sketches of her as I remember comparing her vote concept with previous representations around the time.

All of these tidbits are hard to dig up as they're either hidden deep in stream archives (which might as well no longer exist due to Twitch removing "saved forever" past broadcasts some months ago) or were brought up in the Skullheart forums before all of its content was purged 1,5 year ago, so I have to rely on my memory here.

My theory is that SG2 is gonna have the Vanilla cast plus Squigly, Marie, Black Dahlia and Umbrella. The final boss should be Venus, Aeon will wait for SG3

if I had to speculate the cast introduction would have been something like this.

Skullgirls
Ms. fortune, Cerebella, Filia, Peacock, Parasoul, Painwheel, Valentine, Double, Squigly, Umbrella, Squigly, Black Dahlia, Marie

Second season of characters or (Skull girls 2)
Eliza, Big Band, Mrs Victoria Annie, Feng, Minette, Scythana, Panzerfaust, Hive, Leduc, Beatrix, Ottomo, Beowulf, D. Violet

Third season of characters or (Skull girls 3)
Aeon, Venus, Roxie, Adam, Molly, Isaac, Samson, Yu wan, Regina, Hubrecht, Taliesin, Brain Drain, Ileum, Stanley, Andy

I came up with this list simply on how late I thought the characters would show up in the story. While it's obvious that some characters would have shown up right after Marie like, Annie, Mrs, Victoria and Feng. Other characters are hardly mentioned like Isaac and Regina. Other characters like Brain Drain and Ileum I just feel would avoid fighting until they had too like the climax of the story.

I wonder if there are any characters that had cemented in stone to not be playable in the first game, I mean certain characters like Eliza were obviously meant to come into play later but what if there are characters we don't even know about?
There was that 'alternate timeline' stuff that was hinted at a long time ago, possibly the excuse for how both Samson and Filia will be playable, although they also hinted at 'Hairpin Swords Filia.' Being the inexplicable Lorenzo fan that I am, I still hope for a playable young Lorenzo without the expense of killing off Fortune...

But that might (is) be a conversation for another thread...

Aeon and Venus working together could displace any alternate time line character into the main story. Making it possible for both versions of Samson to exist at the same time.

What kind of gameplay should come out of Lorenzo, though

I still pray for playable Irvin
Wonder how his wooden boxes would work

Always been on board with Irvin being playable.. so mysterious, especially because he wasn't even a nomination for a playable character. But neither him or Lorenzo are quite as gimmicky as other characters (also why didn't support good ol' Adam)

Agreed! And don't forget Isaac!

I like how they set up Irvin as a bridge between Ms. Fortune and Big Band. She needs more ally connections like the Lab 8 survivors (which should expand to include Painwheel). Perhaps that Dagonian kidnapping case will be a big lead for Irvin's and Ms. Fortune's SG2 story mode.

Squigly's inclusion is more about HOW Squigly'd continue to live. She dies in every story mode, including her own, after Marie dies. In the case that Marie survives, so would Squigly. I don't know whether or not she returns from the dead along Marie in Eliza's story mode, but presumably she does.

I see Squigly's future limited to a few options:

Status Quo
Powered by proximity to the Skullgirl, Squigly and Leviathan can only wait for each seven-years opportunity to revive with each new nearby Skullgirl transformation. However, Squigly is still slowly decomposing so this arrangement is finite. Either they need to become stronger to somehow resist this entropy, or...

Fusion
Become like Eliza, a pair of parasite and human blurring into one being. If it is even possible, perhaps Squigly will cease being undead and be some bizarre hybrid but alive. Ideally, she'd regain a healthy color and regrow/heal her missing parts. But also keep some parasite transformation powers (hand changes into a blade, flame breath, serpent tail whip arm attack, etc.).

Doom
Squigly rots and Leviathan expires or he seeks out a new host. Perhaps he's undead too seeing how he jumped to a dead/dying host being revived by Skullgirl power. Sure, parasites can go in dormant states, but his situation is quite unique.

Here's a sketch. I didn't feel like coloring in the entire fused Squigly :P

Squigly's going to have some temper problems, but at least it'll keep her well-preserved.
'Cause she'll be salty. :PUN:

Nothing is in stone but besides every character dying atleast once in story (though not canon) we can't be sure who makes it, though it should be noted Marie isn't dying for awhile being she's heavily tied to Peacock's story, lightly tied to Filia's story, and both of them have been stated to be the perspective we get the story from should a novel arise. A Skullgirls 2 would likely consist of Eliza Annie, Lab 8/0 and our 8 original plus Double and Valentine with the story wrapping up with Issac, Aeon Venus probably a overpowered new Skullgirls host, Filia Peacock and many more it should be noted we don't know how many other characters Alex had in mind remember Irvin wasn't in the vote and that other characters like the half and half lady in the Streets of New Meridian who is tied to Venus could arise

I think the most likely scenario is that Squigly is doomed, but there is another possibility. She could become a Skullgirl herself and thus become a self-sustaining undead, but that's highly unlikely. It would be pretty fucking cool though.

Those purple things in her hair aren't part of her skull, y'know.

Nonetheless, I really like these theories, thanks for sharing them!
hope you don't mind if I 'borrow' one

He probably wont return for skullgirls 2.
That depends. No one knows what storyline is canon. That's why I think the sequal would be more what if story's of defeating Marie. Same plot as the first Skullgirls but we'll learn more about the background of the Canopy Kingdom and its citizens.

It's been said already, but yeah, we can be pretty sure - in the theoretical scenario of Skullgirls 2 ever being made - that none of the currently playable characters will be dropped. You don't simply throw away 1500+ frames of animation and the $200k it took to make those, especially in Lab Zero's financial situation.
I'm thinking the techniques being used to make Robo-Fortune would be applied to Marie since she also has existing art and sprites.

I don't know- Marie pretty much floats and points. And explodes. I mean, I'm sure her assets can and would be reused, but comparatively speaking there's not a lot to reuse.

It's odd but I feel like parasoul won't return and her moveset will be given to Umbrella

I always tought that Squigly would get a skullheart fragment inside her. That would be enough to maintain her awake, but not enough to turn her into the skullgirl...

Or we can kill Nadia and use the Life Gem on Squigly (nothing against the cat, but Squigs is more important).

Probably in part 3 should one ever happen

The thing about Umbrella is, she's heavily connected to the skullgirl, skullheart, and most likely the trinity or at least Lamia. We know just being in the presence gives her skullgirl eyes, I think she'll have a more powerful moveset esp if alex borrows from his old version where she was stronger than Parasoul

Future Umbrella being a redrawn Parasoul would be a pretty cheap cop out, one that I wouldn't expect. Umbrella and Parasoul are sisters and both use umbrella-ish living weapons, but that's where the similarities end.

The sisters are basically mirror reflections of each other. Parasoul is calm and collected, Umbrella is energetic and emotional. Parasoul uses Krieg methodically, Umbrella's moveset concept art suggests her using Hungers is more about barely controlled chaos.

When she was meant to be included in the original cast, I reckon the height differences between tall Parasoul and pipsqueak Umbrella, as well as color contrast between black Parasoul and lightly colored Umbrella were both meant to further emphasise on how different these two characters are.

I would like to think that every one is way to expensive to just cut

Why must people be so jealous of Annie, just because she's better than all of their characters

I will fight you in the desert

Please don´t become "My fav. char. would get and yours not because it´s sucks"

Im agree with Muro, all the chars. could be dead, disappeared, get pregnant (lol KOF), etc. in the Story side, but that´s doesn´t make cut it out from the playable roster in game ( and remember, this is a Versus game, if we get all the chars. would be better, tought.)

I would but I'm not entirely sure what this means

I believe the phrase you're looking for is "My fav char would get in and yours wouldn't because they suck" but that's not really important and DDB's a bit of a dick for getting hung up on grammar like that.

This is a thread is a brain trust of Skullheart's greatest minds so that we can mathematically predict the future!

We must focus on our mission and work as a team to get the answers that elude the rest of the community!
Even though it's all just speculation anyway...

I suspect It's already been said before In this thread, but what I think what would happen Is that Skullgirls 2 would be nothing more then a "Look-In-The-Future" (Or If they do what I don't really hope for,"Look-In-The-Past") progression.Which means that,or what I atleast am trying to say,Is that we'll have the same (PLAYABLE) characters (Don't worry, they won't remove your favourite waifu or husbando In this theory) as In Skullgirls I,but now,we'll see how they are doing In the future after the past events we've experienced with them In Skullgirls Uno.Personal side note,I would really like a big gap.Something like 5-10 years.3 months would be "egh" for me at first, but again, that's just me.

The reason I think that Is because In Skullgirls I,we've barely (or me atleast) got as much as we could expect from It.Before I actually played the game,I thought that the lore playthroughs would be long, deep, and full of Interesting shit. Now,I'm not saying that I think the storymodes were shit, they weren't.Just a lot shorter then I expected It to ever be.

What's more on these storymodes Is how apart they are from each other.Sure certain characters are connected to each other and certain points In x' story mode happen also at y's story mode, but apart from that,we barely know what actually Is going on In the time and space of the SG Universe.

What a lot of us say here Is that we need the storymode of Marie to actually know what's going on,because as far as we can tell,Marie has witnessed every character without me saying she met them all (In the boss fight, ofcourse) and knows that,or that depending on which storymode you choose there has been only one character Marie Is associated with. And we don't know which one or what the actual hell Is going on.

Back to Skullgirls II,why I think that each and every (PLAYABLE) character of Skullgirls I would be back,Is that I think they would do the same way of storytelling In SG II,with the separate lores, because this could lead to 2 things :
1.The classic Skullgirls "play your favourite cat, saxophone, dead kid,big tits and every other weirdo we've got to offer you" storytelling style.
2.An actual climax of the storymodes coming together and make some grand finale for this lore and reveal what has been hidden from us and what we've been anticipating all this time.

Note that last option. If we wouldn't look through the mountain,Skullgirls lore seems like something created for some fun, maybe goofy storytelling without the main focus on that, and rather on being a good fighter game.
But luckily,we do try to look through that mountain of what seems simplistic and feel like Lab Zero Is hidding some major things to us,for the sake of being hidden until the right time comes. That's why It would be Important for them to keep the same characters,so that to not only us who have been wondering, but to the characters themselves we've experienced with,to finally discover what Is going on and your whole existence wasn't just "grab Skullheart, make wish, become antagonistic character."

Think about this : Double Is probably the only character we actually get the most Information out of on what has been playing In the backgrounds of history and who we may or may not count responsible for the creation of not only the Skullheart, but the world and universe SG Is set In.
Double Is the playable character out of the original roster. You need to play through the other characters first before you can discover more.
Put In such a sentence,we can theorize that the other char's are like SG I and Double like SG II.In the end,we'll discover not only Information, but truth.

I'll tell you guys this though,I really should get better at keeping my posts small even when I tell myself that before writing the thing.Oh well,I can atleast always just say that I'm "contributing".

Hey all the events of Skullgirls Encore take place in a single day, a lot could happen in 3 months, especially with things popping off they way they have.

....what will happen in 2 weeks?, dear lord!

I agree about Avian and the Lab 8 personnel who are shown as dead in "Empty" Lab 8 stage. Those guys are most likely dead meat for Skullgirls 2.

Lorenzo Medici I also agree. I think him dying and Vitale taking over the family would be one of the major plot points of the game going forward.

Marie and Squigly I disagree. Putting aside the fact that killing off fully-made playable characters for the sequel would be a terrible business decision (assuming Marie will be fully-developed as a playable character if/when Skullgirls 2 rolls around), Alex has already dropped hint that the Skullgirl would regenerate if the she is defeated but the Skull Heart is not wished upon or destroyed. It's completely possible (and in my opinion, likely) that the canon ending of Skullgirls 1 will follow that path and hence leaves the possibility of both Marie and Squigly to return for Skullgirls 2.

Even if Marie dies, Squigly only needs a Skullgirl to exist in order to be active, so Marie dying doesn't rule out Squigly returning either. I think the seven year gap between Skullgirl events has been a time period engineered by Double rather than an absolute restriction (for example, we know that Queen Nancy encountered the Heart a significant amount of time before actually turning in the Skullgirl, but when she did, it was exactly seven years after the prior Skullgirl incident), so it may be possible for Double to pick a new Skullgirl candidate straight away if Marie dies and there is a crisis affecting her masters' plans.
