Would these buffs make squiggly overpowered to you?

  1. her MK dive kick was horizontal instead of the usual downward strike.
  2. her LK dive kick was vertical only.
  3. her HK dive kick was left alone.
  4. her dragonpunch had two hits and you could cancel before the second hit registered.
  5. her flame from c.lp was longer by about an inch
  6. her grab knocked back less
  7. her lvl 1 being controlled with the opera singing move depending on which punch button you pressed.
  8. superarmor for her HP
  9. quadruple jumping
  10. you could control the direction of j.HP
Would these break that character?

because how stance canceling works a Draugen Punch cancel is completely unnecessary

Man, did I tell you about these beginners asking for changes when they don't fully understand how to play the game yet? Learn the game first, then think about changes (or better yet, don't beg for changes at all).

Damn o_O.All i asked was if those would break squiggly man lol.I know all the moves for all the characters and can do a few lil moves myself.

i like how her dives are now, but it would be good if the dives varied.kinda like how painwheel's stingers vary depending on what button you press to launch a projectile.(would be kinda cool if leviathan was a hatred install move of some sort for squiggly as well :p)

Sorry, knowing all the moves doesn't move you out of being a beginner. Not trying to be an asshole, but I think it's better to learn how to play the game competitively before thinking about how x character can be changed to be better. Once you improve on a competitive level you'll see that certain things are fine as they currently are.

Changing something for a character should always be about competitive balance and not about whether or not it's "cool".

All these people always wantin' to buff Squigly.

Buff Nadia instead.

Fine.:D

There are differences between the dive kicks already, they are just more subtle (one is quick but (EDIT: can only combo off of certain situations like airthrows [Thanks @DDB ], one combos in more situations, one's slow and relaunches). Besides she already has tools to cover other areas not covered by DIVEKICK!
But hey, this is coming from a non-Squigly player, so take with a pinch of salt.

Light Divekick can actually combo off of airthrows and such.

These changes seem a little misinformed, some of them, maybe I'd even say most would hardly be buffs, more complete changes to her toolset. Her divekicks all have different functions right now, they don't fill massively different areas, but they are used for totally different things, already have variation there.

Armour on her HP or chosing direction of j.HP are just kind of ridiculous, that is a very, very major change.

DP cancel would be far too safe and Opera control would be kinda broken for space control.

The 2LP buff is much more reasonable, but really it fills its purpose of being a good ground to ground normal as it is.

Not trying to sound harsh, but your suggestions don't really address any particular aspect of Squigly's game, they come across as more change for change's sake.

she can cancel draugen but by the time you cancel it the other guy is already flying towards the ground.ive tried seeing if that whip of hers could catch the opponent off of a charged draugen and maybe follow up with H.K and then her opera note.

I'm not really sure on what squiggly is supposed to be, i try to use her like saiki from kof13 maybe that's why i'm thinking this to begin with. : /
Those suggestions ive made do seem too much though.(ill stick with the horizontal dive kick suggestion)
the reason for the 2hit draugen punch would be so the person on the recieving end had a small chance to pushblock,,then again they could already do that now if they were pretty fast players.

Squigly doesn't need buffs.

The only thing I would ever consider changing about her is I think her level 3 is bland compared to the rest of her kit. I would have probably come up with something different, but I am not a Game Designer.

1 and 2 wouldn't break her because they're not necessarily buffs, I don't know why 3 is on there.

4 is stupid since if you really want to you can cancel into Squigly Battle Opera and continue/convert into a combo on hit. Her DP isn't Updo, it has to be used differently.

5 is pointless, if you want more range then use c.MK or c.HP.

6 is just why? Use Squigly Battle Opera, level 2 sing, or a corner wallbounce and get a combo off of that. Even if you can't combo off of it you get to build space between you and the opponent, which is exceptionally good against more than half the cast who specialise in being right on top of you at all times.

I'm not even sure what number 7 is asking for. SBO's location is already based on which buttons you use regardless of charge.

8 is crazy.

9 is crazy.

10 is crazy.

updo is the worst dp ive ever seen but since this is about squiggly ima leave it at squiggly.
number 7 is like how peacock can hold her airborne weapon after you input a hadoken motion backwards.
number 9 could be 4 jumps and the last extra jumps didnt allow blocking,so in theory you could dodge an ultra but when it came down to actually blocking that shit you'd get hit regardless since you lost the ability to block after deciding to use those extra jumps.

This thread makes no sense. YOU don't make sense. Please no more buff threads ;_;

ok no more buff threads.(or maybe...)most of those probably dont make sense but some of them actually do.

If there were gonna be a Squigly buff, can we have her divekicks not randomly whiff on herself entirely?

This thread made my day worse. It's as intellectually stimulating as a thread asking if it's ok to kick someone in the balls for fun. But the fact that you are still defending even one instance of ball kicking still baffles me.

Look just give everyone a varient of proton cannon and were all gold why not leviathan cannon, or egret cannon, hell lets give annie star cannon, that way everyone will be the same ^^ *nods*

On some real shit though while were talking about balancing I think EVERYONE in this game is fine and needs no changes. The game is as balanced as its ever been in SGE and we should just focus on the upcoming characters.

BUT LET ME SEE THE FUCKING QUAD JUMP DOE GAWT DAMN

yes i honestly think updo sucks man and lady.sure it has multiple hits and whatnot but the amount of shit you can do to someone messing that move up outweighs the use for it.I like all the characters and this game is almost the ONLY game i still play regardless of genre due to how awesome the combat is and the artsyle with seemingly nonstop references and homages to past fighting games :p all of the characters feel good to use but if everybody keeps that mindset you know...it might stick.if stuff never gets tried out, what would we have?experimentation is risky but in most cases rewarding.

Now I'm not exactly advising anybody to completely change the game.but it would be good to add stuff to further evolve it :D
Im somewhere between "if it isn't broke dont fix it" and "trying things out leads to better things and new ideas"
the list was poorly though out i must admit.i didnt really have a good explanation for most of those to begin with so i understand the wtfs.

Well common sense filters out the stupid ideas and Mike DOES experiment with the characters from time to time (Peacock's new airplane for example THE VARIOUS NERFS FORTUNE GOT). Hell head on fortune used to have headless fortune's s.hk.

We welcome the change so long as it isn't ridiculous. (but not game mechanics apparently)

Shorter version because I feel like it:

Don't be silly, Mike changes the characters sometimes.

Ok :/ fortune rocks with those new moves i wouldnt call those nerfs.i'll just leave it at that, gtg

If only you knew...
So many nerfs you don't know of OH GOD THE NERFS.

The sad thing about it all is the BEGINNER FORUMS are now home to this nonsense. As if we needed confirmation that beginners aren't going to get any better. =/

Swore I seen this kind of Squigly thread just the other day...
deja-vu-cat-o.gif

About this topic: No Squigly don't need any of those buffs. People been highly underestimating her recently.

Also please don't go overboard with the chastise treatment on the beginners. Explaining why they may be wrong is sufficient enough.

Don't waste time on silly shit like this and focus on improving at the game competitively.

Reason: Threads like these help nobody improve at the game, are not read by the Devs and are a waste of time in general.

Is that good enough (not that they listen)?

To be honest View, in every thread that a beginner has complained about something you've given them the same shit along the lines of "don't expect us to help you get better", which is the absolute worst attitude towards a beginner to have; sure, you don't need to hold their hand through every step, but don't just leave it at "everything you said is pointless".

If anything a thread like this at least shows beginners why those characters do not need buffs/nerfs. Just telling the beginners they're idiots who need to figure stuff out for themselves or that their voices mean nothing isn't exactly encouraging anyone. What's that thing they say to kids? "If you've not got anything nice to say don't say it at all"

At least when Vulpes or the like insult someone's intelligence they throw in a nice video we can admire or a pile of frame data that no one reads and just takes for granted, and even they are polite enough not to talk to beginners like they should know everything already.

"This community is so scrubby why aren't they getting better", maybe has something to do with the fact there are only a handful of good players encouraging improvement, instead of complaining that it's not there.

Well, if it's a thread with a question like "what can I do in x situation", I have no problem trying to help. But if it's a complaint about why the game is bad/what needs to be buffed or nerfed/why something needs to be changed/why xyz is too strong from a player who has very little experience with the game, what do you expect? Instead of acting like they should have a say in the competitive direction of the game (they shouldn't, not until they've put time into the game), why not try to learn to play the current game first? I have no problem helping out with that. If they don't want to learn the current game, they're free to play something else.

So, less threads like these and more threads like "how can I deal with character's x" or "how can I make use of character's x" or even "is character's x even useful" would be ideal. Not "how about changing this character".

Point: If you're a beginner (or players in general), don't start asking for buffs/nerfs to a character. Instead, ask about what a character can do in x situation, with x tool. Also, don't complain about something that you may not have spent enough time with to understand. It's better to ask for help/info instead of asking for things like this. Not saying this thread does all of that, but generally.
