I like to use rush down characters as well, though at times I do tend to prefer using keep-away characters depending on the game. Who can however, rush down when the time is needed. Design does come into play when picking a character to try out, but if I don't like two or more things about the character, I will try someone else out. Most times I find myself playing brand new characters exclusively. It's such an odd trend with me, that I joked "I might as well main Decapre." And looky there, I did.

I enjoy playing a character that is able to buff themselves throughout the match; whether it be after knockdown or not. Yukiko has her Flame Boost, Tsubaki has her install gauge, Wii Fit has her Deep Breathing, and Jam (who I sub) has her kick cards. I tend to like some sort of pressure that I can keep rushing in, but have the freedom to try and zone people out. There's so many fighting games I want to play but don't have the PC to emulate or actual money. :U For some reason I think Nu-13 and Arakune have the best playstyles ever, but I cannot learn them.

Analysis:
Looking back on my history of mains, I either see characters who are slow, defensive, and control space, or very mix-up heavy, hard to hit assholes, and that does tend to be what I look for when choosing fighters.
