Beowulf Chair doesn't darken when equipped after KO

I am not sure if this is a bug, but I saw that the Hurting doesn't darken after Beowulf is KO'd with it equipped. The Hurting does darken when he is KO'd when it's not equipped. Here are some pictures for comparison:
