IMPORTANT: The Non-Gameplay Character Apocalypse Has Come!

You have 900 posts on this forum, 850+ of which are in the "Unpopular Opinions" and "Gaming Journalism" threads in the OT; the only thing remotely gameplay in your last 200 posts was "I don't like how Beowulf looks"
As far as I'm concerned, you aren't a part of the SG Community at all, and as such removing you does not kill any part of it.

Really? This has to be the most fucked up thing I've ever seen you write. You would seriously tell this directly to someone's face? Being more interested in shooting the shit with other people who play this game, or are even interested in this game more than talking about the game itself is justification for discarding people?

A community isn’t just people who talk about the game all day long. I play the game from time to time because I like it, I come here because I like this place, but I'm no mastermind at this game because I don't want to be one, so I cant participate in the gameplay-topics much. In what shape or form does this board benefit from shutting people like me out? It doesn’t. It will only become more empty without appeal to new users.

If you like off-topic or not, kicking people out of a fanbase that struggles with getting new faces into it shouldn’t do shit like that.

This pretty-much mirrors my thoughts on the matter perfectly. If anyone can name me another place to chill with other people who are interested in Skullgirls, please suggest away. If you want to talk about the game and the game only, the Skullgirls subreddit and the gameplay discussion forums are great places for that. But Skullheart is the only place I know where you can always be with other Skullgirls players/fans and chill out. You can't do it on SRK. You can't do it on Dustloop. If you try to talk to anything to Skullgirls fans there, you're "kindly" told to go to Skullheart instead.

You beat me to it. Yeah, it may be the "New Wulf Order", but we aren't limited to Beo Discussion only. So if you want to just talk about Skullgirls (or just find a place for casual conversation), feel free to jump on in. We're always happy to see new faces.

Would it be possible to have a conversation (PM with a bunch of people) to act like a thread? :U Guarantee that would last like 3 posts, but still.

theres a five person limit

From what I understand, though, not a lot of people like Reddit. Which might be getting in the way.

Personally, I think Reddit looks like a mess with the way it's organized. :/

RIP SkullFans

honestly though, i think this is a terrible idea. as much as I hate threads like "Unpopular opinions thread", i dont think they should be totally deleted. i just ignore them. no one's forcing me to look at the off topic section

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/BnBeez

Previously known as the ASG Labs, which was previously known as the Unofficial Official Temporary Skullheart (UOTS), started when Skullheart went down in summer last year. A group where SG players can talk about SG, but often end up talking about whatever they feel like, with group chat active for most of the day due to various timezones of regulars. It's where I've been spending the half of my SG-related social time that was not spent here ever since August 2013.

Lately ASG merged with a Street Fighter Beginners group to form BnB, since regulars from both groups socialised with each other, used to hang around both places, merging was only logical from a social standpoint. It's now consists about 50% of SG players and 50% SF players who talk about one, the other, both or neither. It's a fun place. We have weekly lobbies + movies on Sundays.

I also recommend the already mentioned New Wulf Order for the Wulf Den experience. The fact that I'm an officer in both groups in no way makes me biased when I say these are good groups.

As one of the BnBeez SG mods I welcome anyone willing to join our group for casual discussion OR gameplay. Or both!

Skullheart is staying this way. Then if there are people who are not in agreement with these changes but still want a community to connect with, then you are welcome in the BnB group. Since the focus isn't solely on one game, I ask that anyone join be understanding of other people's interests. Not everyone plays a fighting game on the group to begin with, so if you really are just trying to find a community to be a part of with Skullgirls being a part of it, you are welcome.

Because apparently there's a large number of users (many of who are now temp banned) who have nothing better to do than be assholes, this section of the forum will now only allow posts to appear once they've been checked by a moderator. This obviously means conversations will slow down a bit while a mod comes to check them out.

Regardless if posts appear or not because of this new measure, if we continue to get trollish posts attempting to be posted in here, those users will still get warnings and bans.

I just wonder what will happen with all the work we've done with the Annie in motion thread, since we were just doing that.. speculating(animating) on possible Annie gameplay;
An with all those fan projects like the Black Daliah animation thread that were also speculating on her moveset....
I understand the reasoning behind the desition of making Skullheart more focused and organized, but at the same time... I feel like threads that popup randomly on the recent threads are one of the bigggest reasons people keeps coming back to the site, things like the Dark souls, Smash Bros or even the anime threads(to name some) were at least in their own way, productive and kept people entretained; I admit most of those were becoming more and more useless andfilled with random off-topic threads, but I think there is a way to keep things moderated to a point where we can avoid the site overflowed with useless content and at the same time have places where you can have genuine discussions over themes that interest all of us.

I feel like well moderated off-topic threads have a very important role on keeping the site fun and alive, since most of the people that visit the site are here for other things other than just the core gameplay, and characters of skullgirls. I just wish there could be a way to resolve the issue in a democratic way, somthing like a poll regarding all the upcoming changes for the site... at least it would be interesting to see what are people's opinins on the matter.

(This are just my opinions and in no way ment to harm or upset anybody)

We're still ironing everything out and I'll be making my way to the Art forum to clarify the situation for big projects like the Annie, George, Minette and Black Dahlia animation things. Busy time of the year so it's going a bit slow!

We are listening to everyone's opinions on the removal of off topic, even if it looks like we're just ignoring it. We're in the middle of heavy lifting all the other changes and plans we had in motion for this forum rejig ( a lot of stuff under the hood that won't be obvious to a lot of users too), so we haven't been able to properly respond or act on any of that input yet.

Honestly, on a forum like this, voting just is not a good idea. Look at the Waifu Wars. Over a year later and people still complain about that. On such a contentious topic as removing a forum section there is no way to please everyone and it would just be even messier with a public forum vote.

However, speaking of stuff under the hood, the "Moderators must check every post in the character forum" policy has now been lifted! Yay! That was instated to stop people trolling and maliciously derailing threads, which was extremely common in the hours after this sub forum opened. One of the new additions to the forum is the ability for mods to ban individual users from posting in specific threads, so now if someone is disrupting a given thread we can just prevent them from ever posting in it.

The new rules probably wins the dumbest thing I've read in 2015 and it isn't even 2015 yet.

People can speculate all the fuck they want. It's human nature to speculate, hope and to be disappointed. Bad posts are one thing, discouraging people from posting is an entire thing in itself.

A community will decide in itself what it wants to be. Moderators are not there to tell people what to talk about and what not to unless it's something disruptive like trolling or incredibly off topic posts.

Lab Zero needs to suck it up. Everyone has expectations, only a minority of them can be fulfilled, this applies to everything in the fucking world.

If the management team's goal was to deter people from posting here entirely then I guess you're on the right track.

I don't see what the point is of stifling discussion of any sort, excluding obvious trolling.

I mean, if the goal here is to make people stop saying dumb and pointless things on Skullheart you'd better close down the entire gameplay section too... hell you probably should have closed that one first.

Yeah, but is it really our fault that people have bad waifus that aren't Annie?

Well...
...this is interesting.
I mean, the changes don't sound good, but I want to see how this turns out.
But honestly, it will be hard to talk about *insert character here* without talking about how he/she works.

So off topic is back. That's cool.

But I still do not agree with the decision to ban gameplay speculation. I know perfectly well not to expect anything that I or anyone else thinks up to actually end up in the game. Hell, I know that even ideas from Mike himself may not even wind up in the final product. People should really know better, and it's their own fault if they get disappointed. As it is, neutering character discussion in such a way, and ruining it for those of us who didn't bitch when a character didn't end up playing exactly as we imagined, seems like a cop-out.

That rule was done away with because people spent more time complaining/being confused about it than anything else. I still don't approve of it going on, but oh well.

"No gameplay speculation" is still in the subforum rules though, plus the subforum is named "non-gameplay character discussion".

Will the rule be removed/subforum renamed to reflect this decision?

The rule was removed, somehow we managed to neglect removing it from that thread...

The forum might be renamed, it would certainly make sense now. :p
