Report Skullgirls 2nd Encore: Challenges, Trials, Voiced Story Mode, and More!

I watched someone who doesn't play fighting games besides Smash manage to make it through story mode and could see a spike in difficulty between every character vs Marie still.

This describes me so hard it actually hurts.

Skullgirls is the first fighting game Ive played over 20 hours not named smashthat I didnt just button mash my way through story mode on easy.

Or we could just make Marie easier in Story Mode, which is easier.

I never found Marie hard in any mode except Marie 300%, at least when I'm using characters I don't utterly tank with like Parasoul. Oddly enough I already find her feeling harder in Arcade Mode than story mode but I think that's just me and the fact I usually have a trio of characters to go through it for practice on dealing with AI which sadly Im rather bad at dealing with, or for fun.

Mannnn that wouldn't be fun and less rewarding though :C

I am ALL FOR keeping Marie the way she is in arcade mode. However, If I'm playing through story mode, it's because I want to experience the story, not deal with crazy final bosses.

I can play through nightmare in arcade and be fine, but that's because I'm probably playing characters I'm much more comfortable with, so dealing with Marie's crap isn't as bad. In story mode though, I'm more likely to be playing characters that I'm less familiar with/don't really know at all, which makes Marie more of a pain. She's honestly the reason I've only gone through the character story modes once each =\

That being said, I don't think she needs to be super easy or anything; just toned down a little.

Why not just axe story mode altogether and make a comic book detailing the intricate story behind Skullgirls?

I don't think they should axe the story mode, but I do agree that they should make a comic book adaption to at least tell the story of SG (You know, just in case SG2 never happens)

I only play the story mode in Sleepwalk

I want to hear soviet Mike say "Hot 2d Fighting" in peacock story mode.

Fully voiced story, Challenge Mode, Trials, Survival Mode, New Trophies, AND Cross-play between PS3 and Vita.

My money.

It's flying out of my wallet and towards my TV screen.

WHAT'S GOING ON?!

2nd Encore content will not be released on PS3, no. It's for PS4/Vita, and maybe as DLC for PC if all goes well.

Do you have the time and resources to make a complete comic series right now or in the next months?
Making a comic is not as easy as reading one, ya know.

Ah...

Sorry.

Had to get the irrationalism out of the system.

Lab Zero must have their reasons to not have an all systems release. They have a lot of credit considering all their work and all the crap they had to put up with.

It still will take time until I change systems though.

Just get Vita
Persona Dancing
Skullgirls
What more can man require than pretty women

Indeed, and they're pretty transparent on it. A 3rd party has paid for the PS4/Vita port and this new content, so they get to set the rules.
The idea is that Sony wants to promote new consoles with 2nd Encore, so releasing it on older ones would go against their intention.
The content might be available on PC because it isn't *that* much of a direct competition to PS4/Vita, plus apparently Sony understands that small developers need Steam sales to stay afloat.

I thought about it, but, nah. There aren't many games in Vita that I want (Criminal Girls).

And I think it is an exploitation to download things by the PS3 and only be allowed to play them in the VITA.

Besides, these are the games I have yet to play, besides Robo-Fortune:

-Valkyrie Profile
-The Witch and the Hundreth Knight
-Dishonored
-The Last of Us
-Revengeance
-DOA Last Round
-GG Xrd
-Persona Ultimax
-Hunie Pop
-Nekopara
-Katawa Shoujo
-Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
-Mark of the Ninja
-Darkest Dungeon

and lots of books, comics, tv media, etc.

There is a lot to play in the systems I already have.

for the love of God...please pleaseeeee.....please do the best you can to put this on pc...and announce it asap when. wanna do a video on it oh and PLAY IT :D

I hope some of the challenges aren't really about fighting
Like:

-Explosive Catch: "Catch the George at The Air Show with Big Band's A-Train!"
-Gato Golf: "Hit Fortune's head using her Outake into Double's Monster!"
-Bellaball: "Reflect the Napalm Shot assist back at the Bella as much as you can without getting hit!"

I hope the PS4 release revitalizes general interest in the game and I hope to see new players pick up the game.
I think the PS4/Vita release will revitalize things, especially if it gets more media coverage because of it, at least for a bit. The one thing I'm worried about happening, is that new players will pick up the game, then go online, then get completely discouraged and quit because they get trounced by players who have been keeping up with the game since release =[ Of course, there will be other new players online as well, so things might balance out. And I guess there's all of the awesome additional single player content being added, so maybe this won't really be much of a thing.

I...I want all of these things 0_0

Concerning the Marie discussion, I'm actually not sure how I feel about a general decrease to Marie's difficulty in Story Mode. It's definitely a reasonable solution, but since I'm one of those people that usually ignores Marie in Arcade Mode, the Story Modes are really the only times that I fight her anymore.

To be honest, while the fight does aggravate me, I don't really mind the challenge of figuring out Nightmare Marie with a new character at first. Nightmare Marie plows through weak strategies so quickly, that I just feel I get more out of fighting her than the other difficulties. To beat her, I usually have to go through the character's whole moveset, and piece together attacks with the best range/armor/damage/etc. to get the job done. So, if I don't know a lot about the character I'm using yet, the experience really does teach me some of those move properties in a way that the other AI matches don't. However, when I'm on my 30th attempt against her, and I see my clock roll past 1AM, that's the point when I start wishing for a cheat code to help me wrap up the story.

Of course, we only have one Story Mode left to play anyway, so I'm just gonna suck it up for that one, same as the others. Newcomers on PS4 might not know what they're getting into though, so maybe lowering Marie's difficulty in Story Mode would be the better move for them.

Yes, and we've given those reasons several times now.
Gameplay-wise, everything will be the same. And Robo, the art gallery, and lobbies will be everywhere. That stuff is all covered by the IGG campaign funds.
The extra stuff (voiced story etc) for 2nd Encore is not paid for by the IGG, it is paid for by a separate entity that would like people to buy the PS4/Vita versions. Therefore, it needs to make money, and because it is an incentive to get you to buy the new versions it will not be included in the old versions. That's how business works - even though it's not how SG has worked so far. :^)

Like answering this same question in a bunch of different places. ;_;

Translation: Sony paid you off for it. Which pisses me off because I'm on a Sony boycott until they resolve this bullshit:

Are we really gonna complain about Lab Zero cooperating with the one publisher that was willing to fund Skullgirls content.
Are we really preferring Skullgirls to not get anything post RoboFortune instead.
Are we really.

Geezz the multiplayer is the SAME in all versions, just 2nd will get OFFLINE features ( and PC posibility.)
Come on Skull Heart, don´t get "mad" just for this thinks, the versus mode its the same!

Would it be possible for people to make their own combos into trials? I guess that's sort of silly since you remember the combos you normally do anyway, but it might be nice if you wanted to help teach someone weird stuff you do.

Also make it online. You do a combo, then it'll swap roles and they try to repeat what you did.

Like a game of H-O-R-S-E but with waifus.

Aside from you being wrong about who it was, I take issue with your phrasing.
Someone "paid for" it, not "paid us off for" it. As in, things like voiced story mode WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AT ALL unless it got paid for, not that we were going to do it anyway and they paid us to make it PS4/Vita exclusive.

So... W-A-I-F-U ?

How does that work? Who manages to characterize them the most consistently?

Which, after the voiced story mode may be difficult. A lot more personality can come from a voice than the written word.
