agreed. Toonami has been on a roll and I hope it continues to see success in that regard.
as usual the first half isn't as good as the second half, but at least they had a rather entertaining parody of the classic sci-fi storyline of an alien planet divided in a war but no one remembers why it started. original star trek did that stuff all the time.
and people STILL defend this show...
To put this in perspective, I'm jaded as fuck and torture stuff usually doesn't faze me
heres what happened in blood+I'll just say this: you'd never expect SAO to have these kinds of scenes as you would in Berserk. SAO is a very shonen anime like Naruto is, where as Berserk is seinen. You wouldn't expect the main heroine, like Sakura, to be molested and almost raped would you? I can't take a show seriously if it's going to treat its most important characters like that
I haven't seen Blood+ so I don't know what the setting is.
That's....very messed up ._. and way past Shonenheres what happened in blood+
spoiling it because I know some people on this thread don't want to talk about it.
one of the main characters is raped by title character's sister, then has him killed, and the rest of the series constantly hangs the rape over everyone's heads especially considering the fact that the main villain is now pregnant with twins of the boy she raped.
albeit the rape isn't shown but its clearly obvious what will and has happened in that scene as it plays out.
and with the whole "you die in the game you die in real life" aspect, I can't really consider it that shounen. like, SAO is literally more akin to .hack from what I've seen.
I thought this was the last episode?
There's one more after this.
I recommend at least watching the final episodes of berserk just to get a feel of it. I honestly feel that final scene at the end is so well handled, yet I can't really explain why I think that.Yeah Blood+ is technically horror genre which, from what I can tell, isn't always akin to Shounen anime.
I only brought that scene up because it's the first thing I think of when people talk about these types of scenarios and it's usually the worst one I've seen. (I've never watched Berserk nor particularly care to or anything in that level of intensity)
The point I was trying to make was: I was expecting something more offensive due to how all of the haters played it out as this awful thing and I didn't get that. I felt more uncomfortable than offended.
Back on topic: Are there any plans for Space Dandy to appear on DVD or get a soundtrack release? Because I will gladly buy that stuff. And I don't say that often w/ anime.
I recall when that aired on adult swim
They actually put that on TV? Christ...
