Experiencing "input-drops" (I guess?)

Hello everyone, I am more of a casual player but got an arcade stick years ago, so I feel comfy using one.

Trial mode is a good way to learn combos, so I played it to find a fitting character (for me).

Some special moves don't come out everytime so I took a look at why this occurs. (I'm using a F300 upgraded with JLF and Sanwa buttons).

As of the button indicator on screen some circular movement inputs drop (can deal with that) but the bigger problem is the button inputs with 2 buttons simultaneously.

So I wonder: is it me, is it the buttons or is the game itself demanding like frame perfect inputs to recognise a 2 button input?

Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?

The game does have leniency for 2-button simultaneous inputs, so you don't need to be frame-prefect. Simultaneous button inputs for supers should have 3-frame leniency, and button dash should have 1-frame leniency.

If you are looking at the input display in training mode and all the required inputs are showing up but the moves aren't coming out, either you are pressing the 2 punches or kicks too far apart, or you are doing them too late after the last direction, or you are doing the motion too slowly. Since you are using a stick then I think it is a matter of practicing and correcting your input.

You could set macros for certain simultaneous inputs that you might have particular issue with, but I don't think that is a long-term solution since the game does have several 2-button combinations, and it's not possible to set macros for all of them.

Thanks for your in depth answer, but I was misleading with my question: pressing two buttons simultaneosly sometimes shows up in the hud as being pressed single-single. Like "K-K" instead of "KK".

I'm wondering if this is my fault and I need to practice more, or if the problem lies elsewhere

Oh yeah, I get what you mean. Maybe my explanation wasn't very clear either. Sorry about that.

On the input display, the 2 buttons will show up in a single frame only if it is pressed at exactly the same frame, but even if you didn't input them at exactly the same frame, but quickly enough to be within the 3-frame leniency window, the super will still come out, as you can see in the screenshot here:

So as you can see, you don't have to worry about the buttons showing up on exactly the same frame. As long as you can consistently input your buttons in the buffer time, you can consistently do supers.

Edit: Just to clarify, yeah it is most likely an issue with your execution where you are pressing the 2 buttons too long apart. Being mindful of your execution and practicing the correct way will help.

Again, thanks for this very in detail explanation :)
Now I am aware that button-inputs are recognised correctly and I need to practice my timing and execution (especially with my joystick hand, since my motions sometimes lack the down/back input).

I find this game quite "difficult" in a way, since parts of combos have to be executed in different rhythms (or so it feels to me), so timing is pretty much key. And this "input-problem" doesn't do any good for this xD

Thank you for clarification, now I know what to look at and practice more. Thanks!
