Yes.
Tbf I think for it to be the end of the main Skullgirls timeline it was good
I feel like it was supposed to be the end of the timeline. I know the story modes are all in separate timeline but however you see it Marie's is supposed to be the end of it.I don't feel like it was, lol.
Marie falls in every other available Story Mode, so the simple fact that she survives her own is notable, if nothing else.
The other Story Modes present the Skull Heart (and by extension, The Trinity) as this unstoppable, inevitable thing. But Marie's Story Mode explicitly challenges this, which I feel gives this story/timeline narrative value. Sure, this idea didn't need to be presented in Marie's Story Mode per say, but I dare say it was a good fit.
I think a story in which Marie successfully creates a world devoid of Skullgirls would be like, The End of the story of Skullgirls, which I'm pretty sure wasn't the intention here.
The True Story Mode/Timeline is a long-dead horse by this point, but I don't think it was fair to assume that Marie's Story Mode would be the end-all-be-all. Besides, this timeline ends with a bunch of loose ends and looming threats, just like every other timeline.
Marie isn't sure how long she'll survive
Valentine has sworn death upon Marie
Double has sworn death upon Marie
Parasol has sworn to stand against Marie
The Trinity has sworn death upon Marie
Marie is now caretaker to the dead
Marie believes that she finally got her wish, but their world isn't much better for it
Marie's return to Lab 8 likely won't end well
Peacock still hasn't eaten (a sandwich)
The other Skull Heart fragments (?)
The Chrome Heart (did Brain Drain make this out of the fragments? I'm still not sure)
Where are Filia and Sguigly???
ALSO, if future content was ever seriously considered, providing an ending to the story here might have been a questionable choice?
Yes, the ending was saccharine, but I do not believe the story was bad.
I do believe the things that happen in the story have elements that are supposed to be part of the canon, especially the way that Marie survives with a shard of the Skull Heart, and the remaining shards being collected to create the Chrome Heart. But I highly doubt the rest of the events were supposed to be canon.Tbf I think for it to be the end of the main Skullgirls timeline it was good
There's so much tragedy in the story and for everyone affected by it to finally take revenge was kinda cool
I feel like they forced the peacock powers to be relevant as the most obvious plot device in the planet though to escape at end (iicr), feel like they brought it up over and over and over. But my memory is a little foggy so I could be wrong
(Also chrome heart is badass)
