Skullheart

This is out of curiosity. I'm not looking to start a flamewar or a thread itself. I'm just confused.

Holy shit, Gamergate is still going?
I was there at the start and I didn't follow it because they were basically trying to justify something that shouldn't be justified: giving a good review of someone you're in a relationship with without disclosing info.

Kind of. It's not anymore about that case in particular, rather against biased media outlets that don't factcheck, censor stuff, are corrupt and/or are trying to push an agenda. GG wasn't justifying that shit, they were exposing it and criticising it.
ArgonBern

The other side (at that time the "projourno" if I remember correctly) was trying to either justify it postumously or saying GG is a hate group that harasses women and other spiteful and false stuff.

The whole situation has evolved in a political thing, with people siding with one group or another and with a variety of tones being used.

I dunno, SH seemed mixed about all of it after the GG thread was closed after somebody thought it was a good idea to start insulting people, and I'm always afraid L0 won't like such a discussion because of one reason of another. They're devs that I highly trust and I don't know how they would look at me or at my posts after they were asked about it.

True that it's not ultra important right now and they had to put up with unimaginable shit, but with people getting banned on some forums because they (the users) stated they were pro-GG or made the wrong question and the whole heated climate on the subject, I don't know what's the general idea here. Sidenote I don't have much self-esteem but that's not the point.

Getting confused on who "pro-GG" are, but when I was still following it it was basically the Journalist circle-jerk justifying actions and talking shit about gamers, plus a few obvious fake threats they decide to publish for sympathy.

Then there were the (loosely) Gamers who were basically not taking any of that shit and maybe some people decided to be dicks instead of be civil. Wouldn't blame 'em.
Generally a lot of shit flinging. So much.
Un-informed people who decided to join in definitely didn't help, which is probably the biggest problem of any big internet arguement.

Can we appeal to have "controversial" topic threads back?
I didn't follow them much but when I did check they were mostly civil.
I don't know, it's just the type of thing that propagates interesting discussion (and destroys respect)

I mean, with how slow skullheart is right now something for conversation won't hurt :v

It's something the mods could be asked about but I feel they might fear a flame war, and I understand that. Someone would have to enforce a "be civil" rule if anything happens and that isn't simple.

Btw pro-GGs are the one against Journalist circlejerks and anti-GGs are the ones that denied the scandal and started referring to the movement as "Gamergate" and calling them names. Just to clear up the confusion. There must be surely some info on the internet more concise that mine though like on KnowYourMeme
