that... shouldn't be the case. mk should take you back while lp and lk should advance you. Does this only happen for you in the replays or did lights and mediums get switched everywhere? Because I have that happen when my controller disconnects and I plug it back in without restarting the game.

I'd suggest verifying your file cache on steam just as a precaution. I have the game on a separate hard drive as well so I'm not sure thats the problem.
