I'll give you Jotaro, he's the weakest link of the group in part 3 as far as characterization goes in my opinion. Going off of just the old OVA, Kakyoin was a lot more likeable than Jotaro although I cant get into details. I dont really remember Old Joseph standing out that much.

That annoyed me, I was only familiar with Stardust Crusaders at the time due to the fighting game & OVA. Unlike Battle Tendency's opening, the only things spoiled is the team & they travel.

The opening sequence to Stardust Crusaders makes it clear they go on a long journey.
