My problem is not the long/short combos, because I simply don't care about that. I just want a stable version in which my combos work, all my combos end up in bursts and if I start learning new combos now, there is a possibility that this new version will come out and I will have to learn combos...

MGS 1-3 were great. MGS 4+ are bat shit awful. I have no hopes for MGS5 and I'm only buying it if it has MGO, which is all that matters at this point.
