Crouching is normally better because you're better off going for a low hit if you're on the ground. Also c.LK has quite some range for a c.LK. If you do hit with s.LK, you can combo into standing moves.

I'm under the impression with fighters like this that big combos are important, as opposed to smaller combos with resets like yours, Spencer. Should I get this assumption out of my head?

I always tell everyone this: If you don't mind doing some mod work on a stick, you can buy a WWE BrawlStick and mod it with Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons and stick to create a TE quality stick for a fraction of the price. LordCeno linked this in another thread if you want to learn how to mod one...

You can't throw tech out of command grabs. If you're expecting a grab, jump. Jumps beat grabs. Unless Cerebella expects you to jump and throws her anti-air grab instead... MIND GAMES

I only suggest the BrawlStick because it's probably cheaper than a SFIV SE, making it a great foundation for modding.

Just make sure to factor in the cost of obtaining those Sanwa/Seimitsu parts. My stick was modded by a friend, so I can't say for sure how difficult replacing the parts actually are.
