    Shin Megami Tensei and Persona

The game just didn't need a remake tbh. Feels like a cash in. New Girl especially doesn't fit because she's not wearing a fucking demonica, or at least wearing a stylizied/altered one. Gives off a kind of "special snowflake" vibe in the context of the rest of the uniformed cast.

Gravity Breakers - New Character GERZIL!

Reminds me of Acceleration of Suguri's control set up. Actually a similar idea on a surface level (though more of an emphasis on bullet hell over melee), not sure if it's been brought up here before:

Doesn't everyone love Sonic? - The Sonic the Hedgehog thread.

I'd be more enthused if classic Sonic was that good. Like if this was Contra Mania it'd be a different story. They're not bad games and they have some interesting things (the sprawling size of the stages, for one), but Genny Sonic was always a case of style over substance. They never played...

    Shin Megami Tensei and Persona

I identify with my flying shmup lolis and space ships lol Real answer: depends on my mood and the game itself. I can go either way. Often times I try to envision or create characters that are unique (this goes for rpg's, table top, game dev, etc.)

    Shin Megami Tensei and Persona

My biggest problem with Persona 3 & 4 is the silent protagonist. Silent main dudes work well for lonely affairs like Dark Souls, story/plot driven affairs with little characters, and story-lite games with little of either. They do not work for games based around character interaction. You...

    Gaming General Discusison

Been playing Blaster Master Zero lately. So far, I'm fairly convinced that Inti Creates doesn't have the same chops for level design they developed during the Mega Man Zero age, but that being said, this is still a wonderful little game with a ton of fun gimmicks even if it's not as tight or...

That's not an uncommon viewpoint for fans who are well acquainted with the franchise.

Senran Kagura thread: I dance for the honor of evil!

The main games are just softcore porn musou, so if anything they're trading up.

Yup and developmental issues like stuff needing to get scrapped or restructured on deadlines can seriously screw with the project. Never4Get Too Human, the game that proved that you can be in development for 10 years and still be shit.

    Platinum Games

I never said otherwise, but the specific game I pointed to is an example of grave incompetence resulting from a deficit of "giving a fuck" rather than any stylistic creativity. An example of a massively funded title who's graphical budget could probably feed a third world country but for which...

    Platinum Games

Exactly. Hence budget isn't necessarily what makes a game exceptional. I could probably go onto a random "writefag" thread on 4chan right now and find someone capable of writing a more coherent plot then FFXIII. Granted, that's not exactly high praise...

Only thing that stood out to me was >Implying budget is what makes an exceptional product Literally what's killing both Hollywood and the gaming industry. Budget is nice but it means nothing if you don't put it where it matters. Hire better writers and game designers you nerds. Like the...

Okay good to know. I'll set it to hard. I'm tempted to do a replay of the prologue now, but I'll probably pass because I want to get into the game, and having to play through that segment over and over (with the unskippable opening cutscene) is just too time consuming.

!!!EXISTENTIALISM!!! Anyway, started this out yesterday. I was told V.Hard is a little nasty, so I started on hard. Switched to normal after getting one shotted by boss and having to replay the entire prologue lol. Wondering if you guys prefer hard mode and think I should switch back. I...

    Fire Emblem

I honestly enjoy most of the mechanical innovations introduced since Awakening. Pairing is actually a great idea IMO. Just don't hire a mangaka to pen the script then throw out 90% of it at the last moment forcing a horrific rushjob/clusterfuck of a plot.

    Gaming General Discusison

To be fair, D&D has no real plot and is more of a template for telling your own stories. You could run it in the style of everything from Game of Thrones to Undertale. Or you could just ERP. Also tangential but I dislike of the term "power fantasy" and feel it's frequently misapplied...

    Gaming General Discusison

The whole idea of making a badass action game centered around the LOTR universe just doesn't work thematically or tonally. Half the point of LOTR was that it was a subversion of classical myth/legend/folklore. Instead of the manly action dude saving the day by killing the big bad, it's weak...

Platinum certainly has the know how and experience to pull it off, it just doesn't have the same knowingly zany flash that usually characterizes their work. More of an aesthetic issue then anything else IMO.
