All in all it was a pretty good event, not sure why I was so pessimistic at the start. AoE was pretty boring unfortunately (and the guy never grouped his units?), but lots of other good stuff. Also the Mirror's Edge run actually cleared up how to get around the thing that made me quit the game...

Paradoxically, the problem was that I DID pay the bills, and then the zone file disappeared when the payment went through.

Animorphs was the best run ever.

I think the checkpoints were to save a bit of time, because after the race people would probably get tired of the game a bit quicker. Have to say that I'm enjoying this event more than I was expecting at the start.
