    Anime/Manga General Discussion

Franken Fran's a pretty interesting (sometimes) satire. The author clearly put a lot of work into writing believable (to some extent) explanations for the medical mysteries. I'm a little sad that it ended at 60-ish chapters, though.

There's worse out there. The nuclear explosion scenes from Barefoot Gen made my skin crawl the first time I saw them. As for horrific transformations, the gigantic fetus from Akira takes the cake, what with the mess of wires and tissue melding together and spreading like some insane infection.

What's in a Name?? History Behind YOUR Name!

I enjoy lemonade and watching explosions. This name happened to rhyme.

Damn right they do. "World leaders play Mahjong to determine the fate of the world" might just be the single best premise for a satire I've ever seen. The manga is 5x better (read: more hilariously ludicrous).

Well, there went my theory out the window.

Kill la Kill *WARNING SPOILERS EDITION*

For the entire time the reveals were happening during that last episode, all I could think of was Eva. I can definitely see the Chrono Trigger angle, though.

Kill la Kill *WARNING SPOILERS EDITION*

I wouldn't go so far, considering that in the 4th episode, Maiko (the mole) was able to wear Senketsu with no problem. EDIT: Then again, Senketsu might have lost its memories (again?).

Official Anime Peacock voice pack thread!

Opening quote vs. Eliza: "Hey lady, where's your Millenium Necklace?" Death by timeout: "You ran outta ink, too, didn't ya, ya bastards." Reference: Win (general): "That didn't come close to the source material."

I really hope that doesn't happen, even though there is already a huge amount of foreshadowing. If this ends up turning Ryuko into some "awakened form" like the eponymous soldiers in Claymore, I feel like I might explode from hype. Also, can't wait for the battle next episode.

REPUBLICAN CAAAARRR - Kaiji Tang's REPUBLICAN DOUBLE Dialogue Suggestions

Intro: "I smell a known unknown!" Ground tech: "[(bleep) it,] we're doin' it live!" (The expletive can be omitted if necessary. Reference: ) Loss against opponent who has assists: "Damn third parties wearin' down mah HP!" Win (general): "Ha! I guess you couldn't!"

Yo, who here has watched Dead Leaves? Or Mind Game? Cuz that is some deranged animation in both movies. Anyone got good recs for the trippier/more deranged animation (outside of, for example, Satoshi Kon's work)?

    The Claymore Thread

The manga is among the best ongoing ones I've read thus far, what with the great (albeit in battle scenes (which were incredibly well-animated in the anime), well-developed characters, and really engaging plot, although the characters have become so darn numerous I've had to reread from after...

    Anime/Manga General Discussion

So I was watching this satirical anime about the decline of humanity called Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita, and this scene comes up at the end of the first episode: I enjoy the fact that this anime derives most of its humor from satire (no cheap gags/fanservice so far). The female lead is smart...

    Anime/Manga General Discussion

Yeah, Madoka was subversive, but not particularly tear-jerking or rage-inducing or stomach-turning. I was caught by the hype train, but it pales in comparison to plenty of other anime. Dear fucking god Narutaru was twisted. After some point all I could think was, "Oh, a few more people died/the...
