Report Skullgirls JP Arcade Release Date, SIG Is Funded For NEC

This thread is about the Japanese arcade version of Skullgirls (and SIG), not the PS4 release handled by Arc System Works.

Report Skullgirls JP Arcade Release Date, SIG Is Funded For NEC

There's already a config option for that. But apparently the way everyone does it is just to have it end after every round. Nope. But the "coin-op" mode features should come to PC at some point, if that's what you're hoping for. You'll probably be able to pass a flag when starting up Skullgirls...

Report Skullgirls JP Arcade Release Date, SIG Is Funded For NEC

Update 1.01 for NESiCAxLive is out today. 15% - 30% improved framerate when large characters are present on screen, a couple of fixes related to NESiCA card reading, and a small cosmetic menu fix (sometimes 2nd and 3rd character names on a team would not show up after a second player does a...

Current Events Skullgirls Second Encore Location Tests Going On Now In Japan

Just giving a quick update -- for whatever reason, Taito hasn't released the big-character-memory-bus-performance-fix version today, it's the same version as the location test. They're saying that the version with the fixes will go out on Nov 10th. I'm out of the loop on this since I'm just the...

Current Events Skullgirls Second Encore Location Tests Going On Now In Japan

The first one was the "offline location test", which was to gauge interest and get feedback on the progress of the port. This is the "online location test" where the port is feature complete and the NESiCAxLive features are enabled, but are still being tested for bugs. I don't know the reasoning...

Current Events Skullgirls Second Encore Location Tests Going On Now In Japan

The game centers aren't supposed to advertise that they have "online location test" units. Also, nobody directly involved involved with Taito is allowed to publish a list of the known locations. These restrictions obviously won't exist for the real release. :)

Current Events Skullgirls Second Encore Location Tests Going On Now In Japan

This patch has already been merged into the code base for the Windows desktop version of Skullgirls and will appear in released versions sometime in the future, as far as I know. It's a Direct3D9-only optimization, so it's not really relevant for the OpenGL versions of the game (Mac, Linux). For...

Current Events Skullgirls Second Encore Location Tests Going On Now In Japan

We've actually improved the performance significantly since sending out the version that's currently in the location test. In addition to the other performance enhancements we've already made on the game, we reduced the amount of data that has to be copied back and forth between the CPU and GPU...

Report Skullgirls Encore to receive Japanese arcade loctest from November 28-30!

M2 and Taito decided that TypeX2 was the best decision. Probably because the number of TypeX2 machines greatly outnumber TypeX3. Skullgirls in arcades is deployed using NESiCAxLive, which is sort of a digital distribution multi-cab thing. It's easy for arcade operators to add Skullgirls to their...

Report Skullgirls Encore to receive Japanese arcade loctest from November 28-30!

You could use them on the PC version. You may or may not notice the speed boost in loading. On a modern PC, the load times are already tiny (less than 1 second on my desktop). Note that it comes at the expense of slightly increased memory usage, so you couldn't use it on the last-gen consoles.

Nope, can't do that :( Not planned, either. Edit: it's technically possible to re-enable it, but I think we decided specifically to disable that menu. If Lab Zero guys think it should be re-enabled, we could do it.

Report Skullgirls Encore to receive Japanese arcade loctest from November 28-30!

I doubt it will be possible to have an updated intro with all of that stuff in time for the full arcade release. We should, however, have recorded replays that play automatically in attract mode, and I imagine all of the characters will be featured there.

Report Skullgirls Encore to receive Japanese arcade loctest from November 28-30!

I'm the primary programmer working on the TypeX2/NESiCA port. I'll share as much as I think I'm allowed to! My tiny company is working with M2 on this project. I talk to Mike Z pretty frequently. Mike Z and us have full access to each other's stuff, so either of us can change things if we want...
