So after playing on my own in training mode and trying to understand the game as much as I can I've decided to try and become a somewhat decent competitor in Skullgirls. Upon reading some of the other diaries, I really hope that I can use this as a means towards, establishing goals in Skullgirls, gaining feedback and criticism on my play and generally chronicling my development as a competitive Skullgirls player.
Currently I am playing Beowulf as my point character and Parasoul as an assist. I really enjoy both characters' play styles and find my self to be comfortable with them.
So some preliminary goals I'd like to establish based on some recent play.
Goal #1 - I need to have a more full understanding of my characters.
While I'm able to execute basic bnbs with my characters, there is much more to playing this game than just hitting the opponents. This includes understanding the neutral game, match-ups, and proper usage of assists. Furthermore I'm unsure of what exactly are the optimal combos for my characters especially when it comes to throw and air throw combos.
Plan of action - Learn to navigate Skullheart
I have actually used this site before to gather some basic information on my characters but there is so much information I'm kind of unsure on what information to use. So hopefully, with some help from others, I can learn what exactly I need to do with my characters.
Goal #2 - I need to learn how to use defense options more effectively in this game.
I am aware of mechanics such as absolute guard and pbgc have great benefits but, I need to understand exactly how to use these options at the proper time to benefit my play.
Plan of action - Play more opponents
I feel that the best way to learn to block is to just play the game and to note what exactly hit me and why. One thing I noted in my last set was that I would overuse pushblock and get punished when my opponents read it and punished the dash that would happen.
I think for now I'll leave my goals as such. I greatly appreciate anyone taking the time to glance at this post and provide any feedback to me. Also, I encourage anyone to add me on Steam to run sets as I really do enjoy this game and I feel like my learning accelerates so much by playing a variety of players in sets.
Thanks again to everyone!
