Valentine Basic Trial Instruction Question

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to the game and have done all the tutorials and am now going the trials for Valentine. In the middle of her third trial I am instructed to (land) - j.lp - j.mp - j.hk. Some how I am doing something wrong and the trial cuts out and starts over at this point. I've tried staying landed and delaying my jump but that doesn't work. I've also tried immediately jumping but that doesn't seem to work either. Are there any tips someone can give me for this?
