What's there to say about Dangan Ronpa?
Well, it started life as a PSP game which was a mystery, visual novel, and a few other things shoved in there as well.
The setting?
Hope's Peak Academy, a school for the best of the best. Everyone enrolled is "Super High School Level" at a particular skill, to put it lightly.
Though something happens, a strange creature calling itself Monobear locks every student in, and informs them that the only way out is if someone carries out "The Perfect Murder", if they succeed and aren't found guilty or found out, they "Graduate" and leave the school, but everyone else dies in their place.
But if they are found guilty, they are subject to a brutal execution.

Now, I myself haven't played it, but from what I've seen, it's a pretty good game with a great story and characters.
And given that an anime started last month, might as well make a thread, yeah?

Oh, and there's also a sequel, Super Dangan Ronpa 2, which takes place on an island with new characters.

Both games are on the PSP, but a rerelease with both is coming to the PS Vita... in japan.
Though thankfully, NIS is localizing the first Dangan Ronpa for PS Vita, with a dub job!


And ANOTHER Sequel called "Another Episode" which was just revealed.
All we know right now is it appears to be a third person shooter
...Quite a change, but hopefully it'll be good.

But yeah, discus Dangan Ronpas in here.
 
I won't be able to play this as long as my charger for my PSP doesn't work. And I don't really feel like trying an emulator or something like that.

But waht I readed about the game looks awesome, It really has it's own PhoenixWright feeling and I love it.

Fuck it, I'm going to buy a new charger.
 
I bought a new charger just to play Dangan Ronpa.

There's a fan patch for the first game, and I highly suggest playing the game over the anime, as the anime has bad pacing and cuts out a ton of stuff.
 
Yeah, but if you plan to get a PS Vita, you should definitely consider getting the official Dangan Ronpa translation.
If it sells well enough they'll probably translate SDR 2.
And the third person shooter one.
People clamored for it to be translated so if the sales are shitty it'd discourage NIS from going further with localization with the franchise in America
 
I went through the lets play of Dangan Ronpa and have just started the lets play of Super Dangan Ronpa 2. This is now one of my new favorite series.

The Anime's almost over I heard.
Two episodes left.

SDR 2 will probably get an anime. And we'll probably get news on DR 3 at TGS this week

I haven't watched the anime yet but i hope they can fit everything from the games ending into the last few episodes. Also my favorite character was Sakura, what was everyone else's favorite character ?

Fukawa is best girl. Any other answer is wrong. Nidai is also my favorite guy with Ishimaru trailing right behind him.

Yeah Nidai is great but a few questions

Do you prefer Ishimaru or Ishida and do you like Fukawa for both her and genocider or do you just like Fukawa?

I like everything about both characters. But Nidai will always remain my favorite character overall. They better give me the option to date the guys or I'll just bitch and then go do something else.

Thanks, and that's just weird... I'm actually really curious but getting eaten in adventure games has always scared the hell out of me
 
Eh, yeah Vore's very strange.
Some people don't really mind t, some people are horrified by it. and others are turned on by it.
It's a really odd thing to discuss without inevitably talking about the Fetish aspects.
So we won't do that.

But yeah, third person shooter where you play as Naegi's sister.

I am pretty hyped about the game. I'm also curious as to what Fukawa (if that was her) was following Naegi's sister around... and how did his sister even got in there.
 
Oh... so the characters that unfortunately die in the first game are either dead or pretty damn close to getting killed/executed?

And the only shred of info we have about DR 3 is that it's being worked on.
I really hope we can save the students from dying this time around. But that seems kinda... meh.

ANYWAY!
The Dangan Ronpa anime ends next week, the SDR LP is still going, a light novel just came out, and the NIS translated version of DR comes out sometime next year.
Lots of stuff to talk about!
 
I wonder if SDR2 will get an anime adaptation? I would love to see Nidai in animation. Its totally not because I have... like... the biggest crush on him
 
I think so. I don't like how the rushed the latest episode though, left a bad taste in my mouth.
 
I'd be glad if the last case got two episodes instead of one. But most likely we'll be seeing one episode.
 
I already read it. Unless that one happens to have the LP for the second game. I've only seen the body discoveries and executions for the 2nd cast of characters.
