NEC is coming up around the corner, and if you haven't been keeping up with the front page, Skullgirls is going to be a main game with a potential pot bonus of over $1000. NEC is shaping up to be a significant tournament for the Skullgirls community.

However as of recently, there was a decision to place a cap on the number of players that can sign up for the tournament. There are likely many reasons for this, whether it's to ensure that the tournaments don't take too long to run as a result of wonky brackets caused by an abundance on-site signups. It is also possible that the caps were placed to motivate people to pre-register for the tournament as early as possible. For Skullgirls, the player cap was placed at 64 entrants.

As the number of players has come increasingly close to the cap, in addition to the support that members of the SGC are demonstrating on social media, Big E has raised the player cap and offered an ultimatum. If Skullgirls is able to get 80 players registered for the tournament, there will be a substantial reward, not to mention the fact that it will make the game look much better for future tournaments.

If you want to support Skullgirls at NEC, but lack the ability or time to get yourself there, there is an opportunity to help get SIG (a skullgirls player living in Japan) to NEC through a gofundme campaign. SIG currently does not have the means to make it to the tournament without the support of the SGC and with his placement in top 8 of EVO 2015 demonstrated his abilities as a strong contender. Whether you want to aid a fellow member of the community in need, or if you want to test SIG's mettle once again to see if he really is a force to be reckoned with on the grand scale of the Skullgirls international community, it would be a great boon to the Skullgirls image to have a much more visible international presence.

It is once again the time for the Skullgirls Community to show up and prove to the other fighting game scenes that we are getting stronger as time goes by!
