I've noticed that on the character select screen, confirming a selection of the number of characters, the actual characters, the assist type and the stage is done by pressing any of the 6 attack buttons and canceling is done by pressing Select. However during Online there is a small dialog window after selecting the characters which says "Are you sure this is the team you want?" which is the only time where the selection has to made by pressing X, Square or Triangle and canceling is done by O or Select.
This can get pretty confusing sometimes, especially when X is not mapped as one of the 6 attack buttons and O is. Now you must not press X during the character selection process in order to not select one of you preset team, then the dialog shows up and you HAVE to press X and not O, and then the stage select comes up and now X doesn't work anymore and you have to press any of the 6 buttons again. It would be much better if for the confirmation dialog any of the face buttons should be used to confirm and Select to cancel, just like everything else on the character select screen.
