Okay so I'm not saying I'm stopping or starting anything... but I'm just curious...

Monthly 32 Man Tournament VS Weekly Grudge Matches

One or the other which do you prefer?

Let me know guys tryna bring what you guys want to see.

IF I END UP JUST DOING MONTHLY TOURNAMENTS DONT WORRY, IF SHIT POPS OFF IN THE COMMUNITY YOU KNOW I'LL STREAM SOME GRUDGES.

How would you determine the entrants for the tourney? First come first served? Invite and then filled up with randoms?
Would you have a consistent, good playerbase for a 32 man tournament at all? This poll sort-of lacks info,
As a 32man tournament with sev, ncv, you, sonicfox, blandaid etc would be a ton more interesting to watch than one with 32 random people from the SH offtopic.

Either way, I'd think that this sort-of falls into the same spot as Skullbats does, and longer Sets between 2 good people are really scarce to find, so I'm voting for the Weekly Matches.

Voted for weekly grudge matches for similar reasons as IsaVulpes. Good FT5/FT7 footage is hard to come by. Also, I have some concerns about always being able to fill up the 32 man bracket for the monthly tournament with the offline tournament season about to ramp up again.

First come first serve, but I COULD do a curleh mustache-esque thang, which I plan on doing but at a later time... but thats rarely gonna happen and it wont be consistent.

The 'grudge' matches have great potential to be a weekly delight of entertainment compared to the standard package monthly where tourney tree placements/short sets sometimes doesn't bring a satisfying conclusion as it could have for the player/viewer.

The weeklies by far.

And perhaps throw in some special events for the weeklies, like "top 8 at evo" grudge matches where people can take on anyone from evo top 8 as long as the connect is solid and the top 8 player agrees. That would make it easier to find grudge matches.

Or perhaps an event like ducks corner where he takes on someone every week in a ft5or something so that we can get a constant stream of sg's best player taking on different players.

Or maybe like they do in japan... And have a kumite style thing where duck (or any random top 8 player) takes on a predetermined cast of players in a series of best of 3's where he stays on win or lose... It would be a compendium of that players style... Or something.

Idk. I think getting stale is a problem for the weeklies, but if some creativity is put forth i think it will make them a lot easier to manage.

We need weekly streams, aside from Salty. I like the idea that we, as a community, have something to watch/participate in virtually every day of the week.

Weeklies. I prefer looking at a set between two skilled players over watching randoms of various levels play in a tourney; less work to find quality matches.

Skullbats doesn't happen anymore?
We can't all make it to Skullbats.

Because no.
Fine, just do the weeklies, then. I suppose more content with less participation is better than less content with more participation.

I'm going to go with Grudge Matches on this one. I enjoy watching the back and forth (hopefully!) of matches between players during longer sets... Watching other players as they try to d/l their opponents over a couple of matches. I find it interesting. Mind games anyone? haha

Eh, SG needs high level content over another random online tourney imo. I'm sure you can make it to Skullbats like once a month at least? Does this even happen anymore, btw?

I work in retail so I pretty much never have a saturday off.

But yeah, apparently the new Skullbats season is starting up so it's definitely still a thing.

Grudge Matches.

When I was in the tourney I was too busy getting bopped to watch the stream, then I was too salty to watch the stream.

At first I was leaning towards the monthly tournament, but after reading through the posts these guys convinced me Weekly Grudges matches were better. They'd generally be more entertaining and easier to run. One thing I was hoping to get from the 32 Man monthly was more exposure for lesser known players and more experience for some too. Just going to find to find other ways to do that now.

Grudge matches is a good thing, so I'd want to keep that goind as long as possible. A streamed online tourney is also cool, but 1) isn't really that different from watching an online tournament, 2) isn't particularly original, 3) can be done by someone else much easier than the grudge matches could, and 4) doesn't have as much riding on it for the players.

Grudge matches would be great if you're able to get enough matches per week. But if I remember correctly it's sometimes been a struggle to find enough players for them, or at least players that didn't also play the week before.

A monthly tournament, as @Bit_Strife said, would likely be easier to run and get bodies for, as well as possibly showcase lesser known talent in the community. But as @Vadsamoht pointed out, it's not exactly original and doesn't have the hype-factor or high-stakes around it like grudge matches do.

grudge matches are only good when we have good players to watch lol
I don't necessarily agree with this. I can enjoy watching a match where neither of the players are that great if they're evenly matched.

Set play > FT2.

SG needs higher level sets very badly. The ones we've gotten so far have been a godsend in terms of study material and hype.

If you dislike watching bad plays, and there weren't enough good players to fill 6 slots, you'd have a field day watching a 32man tournament instead

I'm all for grudge matches, but no money matches. I'm just not a fan of those.

I voted grudge matches because instead of people typing a paragraph long post describing how they don't like each other they can just fight it out in a grudge match for our amusement.
